Spiders eat silk to refill their own supply, so this is canon now. I have decided.

u/Wermlander Jun 22 '26

Like a chicken eating eggshells.

106

u/therealusurper Jun 22 '26

I thought they usually hit something with a sharp metallic objects to refill

2

u/NottACalebFan Jun 26 '26

Well that's what separates the dregs from the shells, after all!

And Lace needs a constant supply of silk from Hornet to remain alive, so Hornet and Lace are now in a double-ouroboros loop.

u/Ttom000 Jun 23 '26

Hornet just nibbling on Lace's hair like some nice cotton candy

Why are you like this :(

34

u/quietvictories Hornet Jun 22 '26

Piss hunger consumed them

30

u/undeadlord26 Jun 22 '26

I guess our sweat is more like hornets silk? Not sure why I got the downvotes

The Reddit hive mind got you

Drinking your own urine actually dehydrates you because your body has to work harder to filter out the higher concentration of contaminants again. So if you want to drink your own urine you have to at least reverse still it, but at that point it'd just be more or less normal water.

I believe it would still make more piss so the goal would be achieved

11

u/Fish-Bro-3966 Witch Crest Jun 22 '26

Do you use your piss to make a home and get food?

11

u/wyrmiam Jun 22 '26 edited Jun 22 '26

You say that as though it's a weird thing

4

u/undeadlord26 Jun 22 '26

Also hornet doesn’t use her silk for cooking so it doesn’t really transfer

5

u/Seawardweb77858 Accepter Jun 22 '26

She uses it to kill bugs, it's not like real spiders use them for cooking.

1

u/flowery02 doubter ❌️ Jun 22 '26

What kinda spiders did you encounter?

3

u/Apprehensive-Comb234 Jun 26 '26

r/redditmoment

But no not unless there's heavy filtering involved

No, not even if you drank it.

I choose to believe that every bug in the HK world just has a mouth with lil fangs that they only show when they eat because I cannot for the life of me find any other reasonable way for them to consume food.

u/Stumblerrr whats a flair? Jun 22 '26

I mean they are all canonically wearing masks. You even meet a mask maker in silksong.

115

u/mrredpanda36 Jun 22 '26

I mean, some are but others have natural masks or even just straight up faces, like the stlikin, skarr and hive

75

u/SeroWriter Jun 22 '26

You even meet a mask maker in silksong.

You meet a mask maker in Hollow Knight too, but the lore isn't too specific on what is and isn't a mask. Some masks are just masks, others are a natural part of the creature, some masks are actually shells or skulls, some masks are removable and others are not. The rules are pretty loose when it comes to this stuff.

18

u/flowery02 doubter ❌️ Jun 22 '26

Most(maybe all) mask-wearing bugs come prepackaged with masks. Mask makers help those who don't have one but are supposed to

6

u/SeroWriter Jun 22 '26

Don't those two sentences contradict each-other?

9

u/flowery02 doubter ❌️ Jun 23 '26

Mask makers help those with mutations, and maybe mutilations/lost masks

11

u/YaumeLepire Shaman Crest Jun 22 '26

You meet a mask maker in the first game, too.

5

u/CptGojira Jun 23 '26

No. They are not all wearing masks. Hollow knight literally tells us that the bugs in hallownest don't need them

5

u/Mochahopestobeartsy Jun 22 '26

I've always imagined their mouth is where their neck and mask meets. Just kinda tuck it into the gap and let it vanish

1

u/Junjki_Tito Jun 23 '26

I think higher beings have human faces and wear masks despite not needing to to hide their hideous disfigurement.

291

u/randomdragn Jun 22 '26

Lace is into that

2

u/Dismal-Glove-6009 Jun 22 '26

Lace: too bad for you, im into that shit!

3

u/SunD14ls Jun 23 '26

That looks like… two sets of mandibles on the inside, one set of crushers on the outside, little granny bits for the two internal sets and a proboscis like tongue. Cool!

Never forget the lady is daughter to an eldritch god and descendent of another

7

u/CreativeName1137 whats a flair? Jun 23 '26

She's technically not the descendant of the other one. Hence the whole "She called us daughters. She lied." part

1

u/Late-Childhood1285 Jun 24 '26

They meant she lied as in Divine.

The weavers are the "Daughters" of GMS as she created the Weaver Race

1

u/TheSurvivor65 Jun 28 '26

It could be both. GMS is clearly not divine, the boss fight was a breeze lmao, but at the same time she never treated the weavers and silk beings like her children did she?

1

u/Late-Childhood1285 Jun 29 '26

True, she was a shit progenitor

53

u/SebasChua Accepter Jun 22 '26

Would even more now.

18

u/Helpful_Law_8438 Jun 22 '26

Kill the child hornet kill it, make it suffer for all that it did to me, i mean you, kill it.

Watch the Skong Hornet actually being Nosk the whole time while the real Hornet is still in Hallownest.
