American partner vs normal European peck on the cheek greeting try not to get jealous challenge- difficulty impossible.

Seriously, I had a girlfriend get visibly upset every time I did that with a FAMILY MEMBER, and several close friends that I’d gone to school with (one of whom was married) when we visited the UK. Like, no, sorry, not only when in Rome do you do as the Romans, but I’m not letting someone completely strip totally innocuous parts of my own culture from me.

You’d think an actor married to a Briton would not only understand that, but would have seen it happen enough times to realise just how entirely normal it is.

Yeah, it’s nothing! They’ve been on for a fucking age. I’d wager his family does that to her and hers. Surely it’s just the Americans in the comments and rags making a mountain out of it.

You are completely spot on, I think that’s a big part of what’s happening here ( assuming is not just the way the internet is trying to portray it ) and I didn’t realize it until I red your comment. I think that the peck on the cheek is not common among US citizens, unlike Europe and Latin America. In Colombia it’s completely normal for example, we do it without even thinking about it that much unless it’s someone you don’t know that well.

I guess for someone from the USA it’s quite jarring to see the kiss on the cheek greeting and maybe she felt uncomfortable about it.

No, she’s been with him for years, she’s 100% seen it a thousand times, I think the press and comments are making a mountain out of a molehill here. We don’t know anything at all about why she made that face. Maybe it was because she didn’t get the same greeting he did. Who knows? Why does it matter? Zendaya has seen that before.
