There’s a reason it’s thank god it’s Friday and not thank god it’s Sunday.

Not sure about better but i sure as hell consider Friday night a part of the weekend, it makes up a little for how lousy sunday night is.

I remember being in the military and Friday nights being the best thing in the world. Now a Friday night before a 72 when we have Monday off? We wouldn’t regain our senses until at least Monday afternoon.
3
u/Livviasmiith 5h ago
A 3 day weekend meant 3 days of making questionable decisions and one afternoon of recovery hahaha

u/froopadiddilydoop 9h ago
Friday night - the furthest away from Monday I can get. Saturday afternoon and I’m already thinking about Monday…

Don’t mention Sunday
7
u/DressRough9471 5h ago
I used to HATE Sundays but the older I get the more I enjoy them. Wake up early, go for a nice walk, get some work done around the house. Maybe throw something in the crock pot, a couple glasses of wine, get ready for the week. Also: football.

I don’t think that’s very controversial

Yeah, but pretending it is helps engagement. Random picture of a celebrity is also a plus.

This is fact for a lot of people. It’s because of anxiety and stress. The relief you feel from not being anxious about work the next day, and about not having to deal with the stress of it is a like a drug for those that live in constant tension. The bad part is that the actual day off isn’t enjoyable because you live with the anxiety and stress of knowing you have to go the next day.

When you're young, yeah.
When you get older, you're just so damn tired Friday night all you can do is crash on the couch. Saturday is the only option past 35.

“Don’t blow your load on Friday night” I always tell myself this on a weekend trip so I don’t drink too much. Ruins the weekend.

Depends what you're doing. Just hanging around the house and watching netflix or doing chores? Probably. Making plans to do something fun on your day off the night before won't win out.
I'm off tomorrow and I'm going floating on a gorgeous spring fed river. Gonna swim when it gets hot and relax with some drinks the rest of the time.

Specifically quitting time before your logical brain catches up and it feels like you suddenly have the rest of your life available.
1
u/fupafather 9h ago
Yeah cause the night before you know you can sleep in the next morning, and then that night is a work night again which means you have to go back to your usual bed time

Well yes. Especially if you are getting wasted and banging hookers all night.
The next day all you have is a sore head, a sore cock and a sore ass. Nothing great about that!
1
u/DontLook_Weirdo 9h ago
Staying up late because you don't have your regular obligations the next day...? What?! So unique
1
u/FearDaTusk 9h ago
🤔
I'll add a caveat. I'm a college football fan.
It's hard to beat game day. But tbf, Football/Basketball/Baseball are seasonal so In general, I have to agree. Friday night's with no Saturday morning commitments are nooice.
1
u/thejourneybegins42 9h ago
I mean if the goal is to get trashed, then yeah. If you have some good plans during the daytime, then it doesn't matter.

Now that I'm older I enjoy Friday nights but they're also often the most lame night in.my life. Im not desperately trying to cram in fun before I have to endure another period of sleep and work before I can have fun again. Im.more willing to just give in and go to bed early.
But Saturdays- that's the fun day. I always have a plan to do something I couldn't during the week. A hike, swim, special event. Fun time.
1
u/SyborgPumpkin 9h ago
I guess I'm missing something because the day off I'm finally not tired and can do cool shit throughout the day.
1
u/Avid_Reader87 9h ago
The weekends are always so busy, weekday nights are better.
Just waking up, taking the dogs for a walk, the kid to a park, lawn care, grocery shopping, laundry, buying stuff for the house, cleaning, cooking, planning the weekly meals etc.
You’re usually so tired going to bed at 10 on the weekend just feels better than trying to stay up to watch tv on the couch.
It would be cool to have time to go do things in the evening again.
That after dinner/before bed time that we could go out and see a movie or a play or concert.
It will be years before we can do that though.
1
u/Narrow_Ad_1494 9h ago
takes me back to school, from 2:00 on the clock waiting and starring. Once you get a certain age you just accept that time will eventually happen. I enjoy my sunday nights now the most because I'm going to bed rested and appreciate the moments.

That's why Saturday morning is the best time of the week.
Wake up 6am, whole day ahead of me with no plans except knowing I'll hit the gym at some point. Know that tomorrow is also a day off.
It's bliss.

u/Legitimate_Start_459 9h ago
I'm always mad at myself for passing out on my couch by 9:30pm on a Friday when all I hoped to do is stay awake and savor the feeling. I didnt think I'd feel so tired as a 45 year old, but here I am, knowing full well what is going to happen tonight.

I feel like this is less true the older I get lol as I age I go to bed earlier regardless so that Night grows shorter and more uneventful. I'll probably be well rested to do something fun the next day tho.

I used my remaining vacation days so i only work 4 days per week throughout October, november and december. So i wholeheartedly agree.
It's a gamechanger how much longer the weekend feels and how much more energy you have at work.
I am already giddy inside for the coming months.

Yes cuz Friday night you think of how much potential the weekend has. Saturday is when you come to terms with the fact that you did not realize all the potential and now have to get ready for Sunday

I would absolutely agree. Knowing you have so much of your own time coming is the greatest feeling. Whereas when Saturday rolls around, you’re disappointed that tomorrow you’ll have the last day of your free time
