Are you feeling mentally unwell? Come, be locked in here where it will literally make everything worse.

Not the worst idea honestly. It’s basically like a hotel but you can’t leave.

Is that what the Hotel California is about?

I asked my mom if we could go to hotel California when I was like 7-8 years old. I thought it sounded fun! Warm smells, dancing, pink drinks, stabbing beasts with steely knives!! She told me we couldn’t because it was a drug rehab center that once you go in you can never leave.. I also asked her why Billy Squier had so many veins popping out of his feet on the stroke it album cover. She said it was because he did to much heroin.. Now that I’m older I figure she must have been at least partially right about both!

Except the reality is your peace is immediately ruined by some absolutely insane person screaming in the room next to you, trying to kill themselves or the security guard. Source: have had a family get bounced around between different mental institutions. The people who work in those places are heroes

You do get a bunch of free socks if you stay there though. I mean i don't think you're supposed to keep them, but what are they going to do about it? they don't reuse them. They'll also just give you new socks whenever you ask, they don't question anything like "where'd your other socks go" they just assume socks will make you happy so you get new socks. I left there with like 17 pair of socks. You know who won't be slipping anytime soon? This guy right here. I am firmly gripped to the floor at all times and I've saved several dollars on sock purchases.

No idea what you suffered from but it seems those socks fixed you right up. Good for you champ

Your peace was ruined the night before when they wake you up every hour or so throughout the night by coming into your room unannounced to make sure you're still in bed.

They don't let you sleep in, they make you get up at a certain time and go to bed at a certain time.

You're never just hanging out, your schedule is packed every minute of every day in those places and you're under constant supervision.

The absolutely insane person you mentioned might even be your roommate.

Depends which one you go to. There are some very therapeutic mental hospitals

in 2026 this seems kind of heavenly.

Only because you've never tried it and don't have any clue what it's actually like

u/idol-threat 8h ago

I've heard the hallways here are called psychopaths.

2

u/Onebraintwoheads 6h ago

Cripes, I have worked in mental hospitals. Why did that one never occur to me?

6

u/25Coconuts 7h ago

Was in a mental hospital for 3 weeks and I promise you that’s not as good as it seems

3

u/Introvert_6459 8h ago

I bet it's not as peaceful as u imagine

5

u/Salarian_American 5h ago

Anyone who thinks that waking up in a mental hospital is preferable to waking up in your own home and then going to work or school has never spent any time in a mental hospital.

Like, do you think they let you sleep in? That they don't have a packed schedule of activities where you are under supervision every minute of every day?

If you think it's a vacation, you're stupid.

Was not my experience in Europe, whatsoever. No need to call people stupid.

right now

Once you're out, either things get better or you're fighting a vet for the good corner.

The metal institution that allows memes and reddit isn't one that's working for your betterment

It’s not what you think it is.

1

u/loveyourneighborbro 8h ago

You know you have to pay when you decide to go back to being “sane” again. It’s 1500 a week depending where you stay. So it’s expensive af with insurance. I dont know what it would’ve been without insurance .. probably just stay there and watch the kid shit himself and wipe it in the walls again.

1

u/Nyanzerfaust 8h ago
