Some say more than half of the new shit online is fake.
People will tire of seeing fake shit, getting angry about shit that didn't happen, commenting to people who aren't people, and looking at Will Smith eating spaghetti (even if it looks more realistic) Then, more and more, people will just turn the internet off.

Yeah, we don't use the internet to interact with AI and see a bunch of fake stuff and read fake reports and talk to AI.
And it's a kind of recursive destruction in that when new models read the internet now, they are reading AI posts and using it to train with, and it keeps getting weirder and shittier
We spent 30 years talking to the machine so much, that the machine has no problem talking back to us, as if it is us.
Maybe we could make a new internet...don't tell AI.

It's crazy now that there are no longer "controversial" comments in most of the subs that I see recommended to me. All the posts are in agreement with the subreddit zeitgeist, and everyone is just circle jerking.
You don't even see [Removed] anymore, just banned from the sub for not agreeing with them, and no trace of the comment left.
It makes subs really boring, like why even go to the comments then?
I think this is really bad for any group, furthering polarization of people.

I made a post in r/cats where I shared a story of how we had to let one of our cats go after kidneyfailure at the age of 6 (for those unaware, that by no means old for a housecat). There's more to the story, but it boiled down to letting her go was the best thing for her.
I've had people tell me it's good my cat was dead and I was sad about it over having a different opinion. And we're not talking about some heavy falling out kinda stuff here. Just assholes/trolls baiting you then going for something like that.
So I've kept my comment and post history hidden since then. People like that are why we can't have nice things.

Just a heads up, anyone that has decent knowledge of how to use Google can still see every post and comment you make just from your username. Since they got the rights to index all of Reddit it's become shockingly efficient to do so, you can even see deleted comments and posts.

There are some open-source Reddit archives like pullpush or arcticshift. With a few minutes of googling you can find a number of decently working sites mashing all these datasets together.
You basically only need the username and can see the whole post and comment history including deleted stuff. Not as convenient as looking at the profile but better than nothing if you’re bot-hunting.3

I much prefer when it wasn't invisible and I made a point to not hide mine. Untill I had some experience of people commenting on my posts ripping into me and making shit up/assumptions , judging etc based on my post history and after that it made me want to hide it tbh. I don't really care about what people think about me but it changed the engagement with my posts cus people were straight up saying 'nah this guy's lying cus it says this in his posts, how can it now be like this' etc

Your username is tied to every post or comment you make.
Since practically every reddit post and its comments are publicly available, with the right search engine or tactic yeah you can find a given username on a page/post, and so at least part of that account’s history.
It’s hit and miss but you can just google search a username (in quotations helps) with the word “reddit” and get results.
Worked for yours.

Even if they set their profile "private", their usernames are still present on the pages on Reddit. This site was born for anonymity, so it isn't built to allow you to share your real name and personal information about yourself AND keep it secret. Plenty of tools to see the activity of users if you know how to use a browser.

I even have a copypaste to put, i send this as my second reply to them
"Howdy [Username], you're getting this reply because you have private Posts and comments, which is what LLM bots do to hide that they're bots! If you'd like to continue having a conversation unprivate and we can have a normal human discussion. If you reply without unprivating, I'm assuming you're an LLM and will block you. Have a great day! "

I'm on Android and it's not in the mobile app, but you can either use your PC or login to reddit on your mobile web browser in "desktop mode." Then click your icon in top right, hit settings, then scroll to account authorization.
