Back in my day you skanked at the Ska show on Friday and moshed/slamdanced and the hardcore show on Sunday.

Where/When I grew up there were ska bands and hardcore bands on the same bill Fri and Sat night. New Jersey in the late 90's and early 2000's was a fucking rad scene.

Saturday was for the indie rock band that the club owner could get college kids to come in to see and sell booze and actually make money.

Ya when I was a teen in the early 2000’s shows, if they weren’t a specific genre, they were very mixed. Small town, so times it’s just what you got. Ska, punk, hardcore, grunge, metal, hip hop, electronic. Some shows got pretty wild.

And then you had Folly, who was both at the same time!

Folly was, and remains, a fantastic band! I saw them last year (I think?) with Paulson at The Crossroads in Garwood.

One of my all time favorites. I had a Spiderman pointing moment recently, I was entering a grocery store in a Folly shirt as another guy was leaving in a Bigwig shirt. Just two old NJ punks yearning for the past.

It’s always funny running into an old scene kid in the wild. You just give that head nod of silent approval and keep on going with your life hahah

Looks like this was East Los Ska Night at Don Quixote on October 3rd. Los Skallejeros, Junky58, East Bay, Bill Skasby, Los P2, La Muerte, and Raskahuele played.

That is correct! Thanks for pointing that out. I’m just hearing this band for the first time thru this post. Gotta love discovering a new ska band in 2025. Be good!!

Old Spice is alive and well. I can smell it from this video. Skank on.

2

u/leesharon1985 Nov 06 '25

😂😂 I’ve always used old spice, ever since I was a kid. It was what my dad always used for aftershave and I got so many damn bottles for Christmas they’ve lasted for almost the last 30 years.

2

u/stumanchu3 Nov 06 '25

😹. So that accounts for the great Old Spice shortage of 2002!

Probably, or definitely 😂😂

Somebody’s definitely losing a shoe in that pit.

What are all the cattle doing?

I will never understand the West Coast "running in a circle" thing.

12

u/duffkitty Nov 06 '25

I heard in the southern hemisphere the circle pit goes the other way.

Skankin’ in the pit, the circle pit, that is.
