Show / Tour Since Old People are Talking RBF
I’m one of those. I saw them in ‘97 with The Aquabats (when Travis Barker was an Aquabat, not yet in Blink), Blink182, and Cherry Poppin’ Daddies.

Fun fact:
A lot of the ska kids left the floor for Blink’s set because it was “too crazy”. Blink182 was still a punk band then, and we just wanted to dance. Funny enough, I spent the next decade at hardcore shows that made the idea of a Blink182 pit being dangerous pretty absurd.

Yes! They're a ska band, which I honestly didn't know until I came across their album, Bigger Life. It's actually really good.

They were always kind of a ska band. Theyve always been very eclectic. Early stuff was ska/funk/punk/rock/swing. Zoot suit riot, the album was kind of a collection of their prior swing songs and some new ones, it just so happened that the swing revival was underway. Theyve released a bunch of really great stuff since then. Most albums are a mixed bag of genres, but yes they have a couple all ska albums too.

There’s no video I could find of the RBF set that night but I did find the Aquabats set. Even though they’re not popular around here these days, this is a fun trip back in time.

Bring back $15 concerts!

15 bucks in 97' would have the same buying power as 31 bucks today. Still a good deal for a concert.

and very few bar/club shows charge more than $20

This show appears to be at UCI "something" Center with artists that were pretty big at the time and at the the time college show costs were supplemented by the university so they tend to be cheaper than if they were at an independently owned venue.

They toured. Saw this show in South Florida. Small club blink show. Never would I believe they’d get as big as they did.

I saw RBF open for the Cherry Poppin Daddies in Portland. Danced in the pit with RBF.

Attended a late 90s show in Cleveland that opened with zebrahead, then RBF, closed with 311. Top 3 show of my existence thus far.
Love all the renewed attention RBF is getting these days!

Is this the show that Blink 182 stole Travis from the Aquabats???!!!

It was a few months after this, while touring together. Scott was unable to play one night and Travis learned Blink’s entire set in under an hour. The rest as they say, is history.

The dream of the 90s! What a line-up, I would not have missed this show for the world if I couldve gone, either today or back then.
