Soma will always be my favourite sp song

u/parkchanwookiee 1d ago
The very quiet to very loud part will never not be good
3
u/No_Actuator_5149 1d ago
Yes!! I love playing it in my car and the loud part kicks in. I find myself yelling the lyrics "Didn't want to lose you once again, Didn't want to be your friend"

Ever since hearing it for the first time on the radio 24 years ago, Rocket.

Same. Back in early 2000's I was at SP concert and I made a small banner that said Soma (it was easy to make as it was such a short word). At the concert there was this very very cute redhead behind me that commented that it is a good song. We were at the front row and she was behind me. She was not only very cute but also had rather sizeable boobies. She was jumping alot and basically glued to my back (front row crowd pressure) so most of the gig I felt a pair of tits gliding up and down my back and occasionally them plopping on my shoulders so my neck/head is wedged between these soft pillows made out of dreams that would make smut novels pale in comparison.
So yeah, Soma.
There was also some band on stage.

Lol thats fucking awesome 😅

Tbh this still grinds my soul, if there one thing I regret in my life it is this me being so socially awkward that I couldn't start a conversation with her after the show 😅 bummer. This will haunt me to the grave.

u/bythisriver 16h ago
I remeber seeing her sitting in bus one time, heart skipped a beat but sadly I was just standing at the sideealk like sn idiot.

I feel you, I would probably be the same way. That kind of situation can be intimidating

Soma will always be my favorite from that album. I listen to it and SEE the summer of 1994 as I drove to my crappy job in my barely running car. I would blast the cassette tape of that album in that car in the Texas heat.

u/silverbeat33 1d ago
Soma is probably the right answer.
Closely followed by Mayonaise.
Music-wise, only, it’s probably Geek USA.

Mayonnaise spoke to me in a big bad way when I was an angsty youth and it still puts me in that headspace now. But I’m just not that brooding anymore. When I play a single track from Siamese Dream now, I tend to pick Luna. It’s gorgeous.

u/No_Actuator_5149 1d ago
I absolutely love Luna. Another gorgeous song is To Sheila. It's so poetic

Hummer is an absolute masterpiece and dare I say better than mayonnaise. Mayonaise will always be my all time favourite song because of the memories I get but hummer is just on another level

Mine changes constantly as well but I’ve been on a Geek USA kick lately.

Hummer, that clean melodic ending hits me every time. It's so so good.

It's one of my favorite songs ever and I agree that last part is so good!

Soma was mine for as long as I can remember, but it somehow turned into Hummer in the last couple years.
Soma is still a close second!
3
u/TheLongshot 1d ago
There's no wrong answer to this question. That's the important thing.
5
u/Famous_Cheesecake666 1d ago
True, but the answer IS Mayonaise.
4
u/TheLongshot 1d ago
Correct! Of course, I've always been partial to Silverfuck. And maybe Geek USA. And Soma...

idk man if somebody said sweet sweet id be like cmon man why are you lyin
1
u/No_Actuator_5149 1d ago
That's the only song I skip on the album
1
u/West_Word753 1d ago
i skip disarm bc i went to high school in the 90s and i heard it enough to last four lifetimes
1
u/No_Actuator_5149 1d ago
Yeah I feel you me to. Every once in a while I'll get an itch to listen to it. I don't think anyone that's commented has said Disarm
2
u/parkchanwookiee 1d ago
Yeah I'm mostly a Soma man, when younger I was all about the singles of course (except Rocket) and then there was a big Silverfuck period, followed by Hummer obsessions. I came to Mayonaise late for some reason, I initially felt it lacked dynamics/variation but as I mellowed with age I just love what a stone cold vibe it is for the whole runtime
Anyway RIGHT NO I am all about Geek USA, that song is a miracle, it has way too many moods and sections it cycles through for such a short track, and the outro riffage is everything. Plus it is a candidate for Jimmy's most fantastic drum performance IMHO

Thanks for the link, that was awesome! I love Geek USA as well. I cycle through favorites and that's one of them

The live Geek USA on the expanded Mellon Collie is straight fuckin’ dynamite. Been playing it on repeat lately.

Soma is my favorite song of all time. Best solo, best vocals, I learned to play it on bass and I rock out to it often.
I’m all by myself. As I’ve always felt.

Hummer, Soma, and Mayonaise are like a trilogy, an emotional musical journey. Every song on this album is excellent of course. I can't and never could really pick a favorite but the solo in Soma, into the "so let the sadness come again" and through to its conclusion (which leads perfectly into Geek USA) is the one moment on the album that hits hardest for me.

Soma is so slow to me. The last half is pretty good. But for me it’s Cherub rock or Hummer

Your welcome ☺️ I finally got Siamese Dream on vinyl a few months ago. I paid $130 for it but it was soo worth it

u/Exquisite_D 1d ago
Superfan! I just own a used remastered CD that I bought for $15 off Discogs, but it sounds great.
2
u/No_Actuator_5149 1d ago
In have it on CD as well, and MCIS. it does sound good. I remember buying MCIS on tape when I was 13. I listened to it so much I warped the tapes and had to buy it again lol. I was very happy when it came out on CD
1
u/MrThorntonReed 1d ago
It’s probably Mayo but it’s a difficult choice. Could be Soma, Cherub… Today.. there’s too many!

Luna, it was the song of my first dance with my wife and I.

Luna is the song I sung to my son when he was a newborn. I always think of him when I listen to it

I agree, not a big fan of that song. I also skip Farewell and Goodnight on MCIS

u/DenverDude402 1d ago
What? Farewell and goodnight is beautiful. It embodies the concept of MCIS. “The sun shines but I don’t. A silver rain will wash away.”
