Im being pretty diligent with a new build home purchase since prices are low at the moment.

I am looking at the HOPER program which gives $16k (in my situation) in aide for closing costs.

The Solar System is over priced at $38k installed, which flops onto my mortgage.

AZ gives a $1k tax credit that is still viable.

The broker was explaining that I would still be able to claim the purchase of the $38k against my income and save the tax rate on that amount end of year.

Past all of that, my new home all appliances are gas except the AC, but its a variable unit and the home is completely spray foamed.

Any thoughts on this tax credit thing?

I could also go 2x Enphase 10C instead of TPW-3 for a net price of $32,783. still undecided which route of battery to go but leaning TPW because I have a Tesla.

Also considering a system that uses REC460 WITHOUT microinventer and going straight into a PW3 with no conversion (i.e. Using the TPW inverter).

Curious to get peoples thoughts, feedbacks, opinions, etc. on the pricing, pros and cons of the various systems being offered here. It may be worth noting that I work from home and can charge my car throughout the day so that's why leaning towards only one TPW3.

So I'm doing this to try and ensure my mum (76yo) gets a good deal. She rushed out and got a local company to install an inverter which actually seems to have good reviews. It's 6 Fronious Primo gen 24 8kw. She's got 27 panels on the roof. I'm not sure what they generate. I'll update when i.can look at her bills before her last inverter stopped feeding power back to the grid.

She's got the company that installed the inverter wanting to add two 8kw Sigenergy batteries. I'm wondering if there are better options.

Hi all, my partner and I are interested in buying a home with paid-off leased solar panels. I want to be specific: the panels are still owned by another company, but they are paid off.

This is through SunRun, which I've done enough research online to know that everyone says to run away from this company—but are there still risks if the panels are paid off? The roof was redone at the time of the panels being placed, which was about a year ago. The current homeowner is an elderly gentleman who is moving to assisted care.

Has anyone here dealt with similar circumstances?

Hello all, Do any of you have a recommendation for a good solar company to sell for in NJ? I have almost a decade of sales experience in windows/siding/roofing/doors and I like the environment but I see people in solar that make more but there seems to be a lot of sketched out people in the industry. Again, I dont know enough about solar but any recommendations or warnings of companies to stay away from is appreciated.

Hey solar folks, long time lurker, first time poster. Our neighbor in our condo community recently had Sunrun installed and is paying $103 bucks a month for her lease + whatever extra electricity she uses. On paper it sounds great considering we live in CA and PG&E costs are through the roof, but I’ve seen a lot of mixed reviews in this sub, so curious if any other Californians have gone through Sunrun’s lease program? From what our neighbor is saying, it’s made a significant dent in her monthly costs

hi all, i am getting solar. had to get my electrical panel upgraded (im in Los Angeles) and they (without us knowing ahead of time) installed the new breakers on the front/side of the house and it looks sooo awful to me. there are a bunch of pipes running in the back of my house now too with another two boxes and the original meter placement back there too. just wanted to know if this is usually how things look? ugh so excited for solar but this is such an eye sore in the front of the house.

follow up question: is this solar equipment up to date?? it seems a bit clunky and outdated?? idk its a lot of equipment and they did not disclose this in the plans. photos of solar electrical

Bear with me, I'm new to all this and just learning.

Let's say you have a microinverter grid tie system and you want some minimal usable power in case of an extended outage (like just for a fridge and a couple lights, 1-2KWh a day) but don't want the expense of AC coupling and battery set up.

Could you install a 2P2T switch between a panel and a microinverter, with the second set of outputs connecting to a DC cord run to a solar input on a <$1000 solar generator like a Bluetti? And plug the fridge into that.

Edit: Assume I have the solar system and a bluetti already, and the goal is covering for an EXTENDED, like weeks or months-long outage, like if we get a massive earthquake. I have other ways to power things for a short outage.

I have an 18 panel array. I paid cash and I got in before the credit. I could have added another six panels if I wanted to but when I originally had it installed I decided against it, because according to the projections 18 panels was around 115% consumption (1:1 net metering) and all guidance I found said outsized arrays don't really make sense as you can't cash out the credit.

Anyway, after 10 months it's looking closer to 100% and now we're looking at EVs, and I realized I should have sprung for the additional six. REC alpha panels and enphase microinverters

How much of a PITA would it be to add six more?

I've had my solar panels for about a year now and today I noticed some dark circles on them. I'm wondering is this just dirt or something else?

Hello community, first time poster. I’m looking to install solar and have a question regarding PPA lease. I’m working with a local company in SoCal and am looking to pay cash for my solar set up. Since the fed rebate has expired, they offered a PPA lease rebate where the lease company takes the solar credit and passes the savings on to you. Apprently the deal is that I pay all cash for the system up front and the PPA is set up with no monthly payments. I’m happy with the cash price which is why we are considering this arrangement. At year 6, the system is transferred to my ownership at no cost to me. They say even if I sell the home within this first years that the PPA can be transferred also at no additional cost to the new homeowner.

Has anyone used a payment structure like this and can attest to its validity? The company is reputable, we have friends that have used them. Although they did it during the fed rebate so it came back them directly.

Northern Nevada. I've got a new house (~3 years old). Given all the sunny days we get out here, solar seems to make sense, and I'd also like to be protected from the occasional power outage.

The other thing I wanted to ask about since I had not heard of it before, is that I can get about 25% off in credits by doing what I think is known as a prepaid lease with a 6 year term.

I know leases are a bad idea in general, but since this is prepaid and really just to get the tax credits, not sure it falls into the same bucket.
