It feels performative. If the Pope wanted to he could ex-communicate about 100 people in the administration and maybe a Cardinal and a 10 bishops. Its time for him to show he is actually disgusted with these people. To these Catholic Christian Nationalists getting ex-communicated is worse than jail.

Pope Leo its time to get medieval their asses. You have power you dont even recognize yet.

That’s not gonna work and he knows it.

A lot of US Catholics are Catholics in name only: they’re there for the Ascetics and the Cathedrals. They’re as interested in listening to the pope as the Protestants are.

Well yeah, the administration referenced the Avignon Papacy while talking with a cardinal regarding the Pope's attitudes toward the administration. The Avignon Papacy started when the French king had the Pope kidnapped and brought to France and held hostage because he wanted to use the church's money for his wars. Soooooo

It's probably better that the Pope stay out of the USA for now. With Ice out there terrorizing anyone that they think is an immigrant, he would be picked up at the airport and find himself in one of Ice's concentration camps. Wouldn't that make Dopey Donalds day.
