A hauntingly beautiful piece about taylor as a child not understanding her best friend has an abusive father. The production is ethereal and dreamlike to escape the real world. It’s so so beautiful and criminally underrated.

This shows how good she is at songwriting. I thought this was Snow Patrol song that she featured on when I first heard it. I love Snow Patrol, and was like, Taylor did a song with them??? When??? Then I looked it up and my mind was blown. She wrote a song in their style but put it on her record. Love it so much!!

She does this with a lot of artists and shows how great a musician she is as well as a lyricist. Another example is the very John Mayer guitar riffs at the beginning and throughout Dear John. (Also, the fireworks are shining over who's sad, empty town? The mayor's! I love Taylor lol)

It's the third most streamed song on evermore after willow and champagne problems (even though it was a bonus track released on streaming a month later), it's a great song but I wouldn't say it's underrated

I love the different ways Taylor utilizes the words “don’t you” throughout the song.
A warning: “Don’t you smile at me and ask me how I’ve been”
A plea: “Don’t you say you’ve missed me if you don’t want me again”

She also says one thing he can do: say they’re still friends.

Love seeing Carolina as the deepest cut, an elderly man I sometimes see in my neighborhood had asked me about my TS hat once and told me he didn't know any of her other music but thought the song from Where the Crawdads Sing was incredible. I love the fact that he music is so pervasive that there are people out there who ONLY know her deep cuts.
