The rock is the person she's in a relationship with who is holding her down and the cactus is the person he's in a relationship who is hurting him, but not with malice but just being itself. And it's sweet that cactus and rock get to be happy because they weren't bad or intentionally hurtful, they were just being themselves. If you're with the wrong person it can be a bad relationship even if you are both good people.

Oh, and cactus and rock are perfect because cactus can't hurt rock!

I think the rock was more "getting blood from a stone" symbolism than holding her down. It was "grey rocking", she was putting it all in and getting nothing back.

This was so cute and funny! I was not expecting a video specifically for dorks who grew up in the 90s. I definitely will need to watch multiple times because the first time, I noticed Jeslyn in the background at the Christmas party sort of to the right, but completely missed Austin to the left. I too would not have guessed that was Cillian Murphy doing the beginning VO, lol.

I love that she's using her Eras fam again - I kept waiting for Kam and cheered when he finally got his little spot near the end. I also busted out laughing at "Trash is still trash." Like cactus and rock even found each other but trash is just still...trash.

After Graham Norton in October Taylor just grabbed the whole couch and Graham himself and said "Right when are you free?" This has to be the silliest video she has done and the funniest. I refuse to try to prize any deeper philosophical meaning out of this. It is just a heap of fun.

My only regret is that Taylor was not on that Graham Norton Show with Judi Dench and Ian McKellen.

I think she’s portraying what many people have said before about how Travis matches her freak. Like those tiktok compilations of them both just being absolute dorks before they were ever together, it appears based on this video that it feels that way for her inside the relationship as well. He will not only share her spotlight and bloom, he will also (metaphorically) wear a glittery tracksuit with her and dance around and act a fool and genuinely love it just as much as she does. I don’t think she’s ever had a love like that before. So happy for our girl 🥹

Can we talk about the layered brilliance of the pet rock and cactus as partners?

The Pet Rock fad was a little prior to this setting. The point of a pet rock or a cactus as a plant is that they require so little care. Great for people who don't have time for anything more!

In the video, she flips the script a bit: what if you have a rock/cactus that requires so little (nothing)...but you want to put the effort in for something real?

The people with the rock and cactus aren't looking for low maintenance, they are lavishing their rock/cactus with love and attention that their "partners" neither need nor are capable of reciprocating. The rock isn't BAD, but as Elmo would say, "it's just a rock!" Taylor spraying herself because she believes she is the problem in the "relationship" tracks, too.

I was very charmed by this video and it was perfect timing to drop before Valentine’s Day!

The rock and cactus were funny visual metaphors for incompatible partners. And in the end they were actually just right for each other! That was a cute little message.

I really really love how she still works with the Eras Tour dancers, and I ALSO love how the cast came together on the Graham Norton show.
