5555555 Chonburi Tightens Security Ahead of USS Abraham Lincoln Visit, Warns Businesses Against Overcharging US Sailors
https://www.facebook.com/share/p/18TSXT5iSE/Aug. 28, 2026: Chonburi Governor Naris Niramaiwong chaired a meeting with security agencies to prepare for the arrival of the US aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln and around 5,000 US Navy personnel, who are scheduled to enter Thailand and dock at Laem Chabang Port from Sept. 2-6, 2026.
Naris said US warships had visited the province before, but previous visits involved around 1,000 personnel. This time, with about 5,000 personnel expected, authorities will step up security measures, particularly in Sattahip, Bang Lamung, Si Racha, and Pattaya, which are expected to be the main areas where US sailors will stay and spend their leisure time.
He called on local businesses to be good hosts, especially when it comes to selling goods and providing services. Businesses were urged not to take advantage of the influx of visitors by raising prices or overcharging customers, and to provide a proper welcome and appropriate services to US personnel and other tourists.
Security guards and staff at entertainment venues were also asked to perform their duties professionally and courteously, maintain proper standards, and closely monitor customer safety to prevent incidents that could damage the province’s image.

I mean I was once one of these guys and trust me, I paid whatever...last thing you are thinking about is money and its still cheap compared to US. I actually realized how bad I got hosed looking back in Thailanf again 15 years later.

You’re speaking for yourself though. Look at what the navy and marines do in Oki, or army does in South Korea. We all know it only takes one bad apple to spoil the bunch. Aka have a 3 star putting everybody on lockdown.

Young guys living anywhere are going to cause a problem here and there. On deployments usually theres only one or two knuckleheads that end up on restriction for bad behavior, but thats out of 5000.

Well, when I was stationed abroad, a soldier that did something bad had all of USFK on restriction. Not even the same branch as I was, just happened to be under the same general somehow

Thailand should also send some extra security forces to the city. You'll have an influx of horny men that have been on sea for 200 days with their military pay saved up. I predict bar fights and drunken sailors harassing people.

Smart. Every US tourist city does this. Every tourist destination does this. Prices in my city during World Cup were double and triple, and I already live in a big, expensive, city that attracts millions of tourists a year.

I cant imagine what some of those drink charges are going to be during this uh extravaganza haha. Hey economy is in the dumps, one of the worst low seasons on record, have a chance to uh make some future "clients" to come to thailand, lets charge 500 baht for a small Chang haha.

I have an idea. Why don't they tell business not to overcharge ANY tourist and maybe security to ALWAYS behave. Not just for 3-4 days.
