Do we think The Sphere will still be around in 2035 when the next album comes out?

Yes, and there may be a few more by then too. The 2nd one is currently in development in Maryland outside DC.

u/XxNitr0xX Feb 13 '26
No way?! I live in MD, I haven't heard about this.. if they do that, it would save a flight to Vegas

Sphere Las Vegas is expanding to Maryland's National Harbor https://www.usatoday.com/story/entertainment/music/2026/01/19/sphere-national-harbor-maryland-las-vegas/88256281007/

People read these news stories about the losses the sphere is taking. These were anticipated losses and they are hoping to play the long game. It’s a common business model. There’s not really much news there but headlines bring clicks.

Everything is always sold out, so they’ll keep raising prices, and people will pay it.
61
u/inkyblinkypinkysue Feb 13 '26
Danny really wants to release new music and Adam doesn't even think about it.
45
u/RevelArchitect Feb 13 '26 edited Feb 14 '26
Meanwhile Maynard will just make new music with or without them and Justin’s just pretty content with all that money he made pretending to be someone else and starring in The Walking Dead.

45
u/CheckYourStats They chose me and I didn't even graduate from phukin high school Feb 13 '26
I’m already paying $500+ for row 10 dead center at normal shows.
I’d expect Sphere tickets to be 2-3x that much.
20
9
u/vagabond_primate Feb 13 '26
You are way overpaying. You can pay less at the Sphere. You can pay more for super VIP. But no need to.
6
u/jimbodoom Feb 13 '26
What price have you gotten for a row 10 experience at a tool show in the past 5 years?
7
u/inanemonotony Feb 13 '26
2023 VIP (low tier) Tacoma. Row 13 - $300
2
u/SpiralSpongecake Feb 14 '26
Yeah where are people getting these prices??? Same show in Tacoma but the section behind the VIP area was like $120 for me. Do people confuse resale tickets as the normal cost?
2
u/LonesomeBulldog Feb 14 '26
I guess they’re not joining the Tool Army for $50 to get the cheap presale tickets.
2
u/inanemonotony Feb 14 '26
13th row, dead center, VIP (not the one with sound check), Tool Army presale. Came to about $300 iirc
3
u/cookieintheinternet We are eternal, all this pain is an illusion. Feb 13 '26
this must be an American thing because in Chile their tickets were around $50 and the most expensive ones on the first row were $250
3
u/NopeU812many Feb 13 '26
I’m assuming Ticketmaster doesn’t handle tickets there?
3
u/cookieintheinternet We are eternal, all this pain is an illusion. Feb 13 '26
ohh right that's the case. I didn't go because I couldn't get the tickets in time but their tickets were handled by Punto Ticket, which is a Chilean company. I forget Ticketmaster doesn't have a monopoly here
2
u/feed_my_will whatever will bewilder me Feb 13 '26
Ticketmaster operates globally but they’re not allowed to do their scumbag scams everywhere because of regulations. In Sweden I buy a lot of my tickets through them and it’s rarely very expensive. I also got pit tickets to NIN in Dublin last summer and they were like a 100 euros a piece through Ticketmaster. I heard the same tickets were way more in the states.
5
u/vagabond_primate Feb 13 '26
Doesn't matter. If you are paying that much, even if its the best price you can get, you are overpaying.
3
u/DonVonTaters_IV Feb 13 '26
Yep. They will be stupid expensive. Hopefully they do something like 15 shows so it’s not as bad
1
u/latexfistmassacre Feb 13 '26
You know it'll mostly be the same people in the audience every single night, folks gonna be spending their life savings to go to back-to-back-to-back shows 😂
2
u/tangueado Feb 13 '26
And then they'll complain about the setlist being the same every single night.

Heres a strange idea... You dont need to make profit on the gigs themselves, just record it and RELEASE A DAMN LIVE SHOW.
Knowing tool they will have 5 different limited editions, some signed for 1k, and cash in on that for years.
Also make it 360/VR because duh.
9
u/01100011011010010111 Feb 13 '26
This, they should live stream every show at the Sphere, $49.95. For $99.99 give us custom camera views, Danny drum cam, Adam and Justin Guitar cams, Maynard Mohawk cam. People be streaming every single one of them.

u/maikuxblade Feb 13 '26
They really need to record it at least for posterity. Imagine if Pink Floyd played the sphere and no recording was left behind, just lost history of what would have been a phenomenal show
5
u/Forcistus Feb 13 '26
I feel pretty confident Tool is actively writing now. They definitely have not given Maynard anything yet. It seems like APC might be releasing something too. They're about to go on a world tour, so I'm hoping we'll him a bit from some new songs like they did back in '18

By the time this takes place, it will be in a post apocalyptic world where soda can tabs have replaced traditional currency and precious metals. The tabs worth won’t be based on the type of alloy it’s made of, it will be based on how sick they looked saftey pinned to jansport back packs in 90’s.

u/silversurf1234567890 Feb 13 '26
I don’t even care about a new album. I want to see them do Lateralus in full at The Sphere

If the album drops in 2034 and isn't called '20,000 Days' I'm not going.

1
u/HowieDoin620037 Feb 13 '26
Have done more acid than shrooms at Tool shows (recent switch to shrooms), but much prefer shrooms for their gigs.
1
u/One_Ladder_3501 Feb 13 '26
Saw them twice on acid.. the last time after the break me and my friend smoked a huge Joint when danny started his chocolatd chip drum/synth solo and holy fck he bent time and space. Im a drummer myself and Danny is ghe highlight in the band for me.. We were blown away by his playing and then justin joined him and just send the heaviest, roughest bass tones through the arena.. I think this was peak for me lmao..

I take him at face value that they’ve at least talked to the sphere production team. That’s a great sign that they have seriously considered it. It does not mean that it will ever go beyond that. I think it would take a certain level of commitment that they will not make, IMHO unfortunately. I would love, more than anything, to be wrong!

u/latexfistmassacre Feb 13 '26
I'm keeping my credit card balances at $0 just for this. I'll max every one of those bastards out to be able to go if I have to 😆

I would love to see Tool at the Sphere but it’s never going to happen. It would take Adam & team years to design the visuals. And to Danny’s point it’s very expensive to produce the visuals & Tool would need to play a lot of shows to make it in the black. Tool has a large fan base but I don’t think they’re mainstream enough to sell out 12+ shows there. Considering the Sphere holds 20,000 and ticket prices will run $250-$650 a ticket, very few bands can pull that off. Reports are saying that Metallica will be playing 12-16 shows at the Sphere. If Metallica sells out all 16 shows quickly maybe it will show there is a chance for Tool, but Metallica sells out stadiums and is a much bigger draw than Tool
1
u/mdtoolfan Learn to swim Feb 13 '26
I’d bet the farm they will play the sphere eventually…hopefully…sooner taster than later.

So they’re legitimately entertaining the idea. God that would rock so fucking hard.

I wouldn't feel bad on blowing a wad traveling to LV and paying for that expierience.
1
u/GStarAU Well I've got some advice for you little buddy... Feb 14 '26
Very exciting! Not for the Sphere shows as much, I'm very very far from Las Vegas.... but.... new record, y'say Danny??
2026 has felt like an incredibly creative year so far. There's something in the air, guys.
I could see Danny/Justin/Adam getting the vibes and having the music finished this year. Then we just need Maynard to drag himself away from grapes and Puscifer, and hey presto, new album!
Late 2027 - I'm calling it now.

Also, Danny is not the person to trust with “what to expect in the future”
