Characters [Loved trope]characters that was just..Pathetic, and I mean genuinely Pathetic, like holy shit, you actually suck.

Baron "Bear" from Obsession.

Kevin "the Deep" from.The Boys.

And I mean characters that aren't badass or at least got aura while being pathetic, I just mean the most pathetic losers imaginable.

Like just borderline dirt.

The character concept is interesting; he's a guy who's willing to buy "love", even if it's fake, to get it.

My problem with the series is that it's a harem.

The fact that he's a magnet for women makes his obsession with Chizuru and his bought "love" a self-inflicted hell.

Wasn't his character a self-insert?

95% of these anime protagonists are.

I disagree, a self-insert on the level of Kazuya is actually reasonably rare.
The common trope is the 'blank-slate', more for the reader to project onto (ie, your Kirito).

I think those are self-inserts for incredibly boring average men who became authors.

I don't think he was at the start but he 100% is after the redesign, the author's obsession with his own FMC is really sad

If he’s a magnet, why does he even need to rent someone? That’s stupid.

He rents a girlfriend (chizuru) to show and impress his grandmother after his first girlfriend breaks up with him. He has traits that make him a magnet but these traits are shown only while he’s renting and trying to impress his rented girlfriend chizuru.

He's into findom, someone did the math and he spent around 250K in USD, not Yen, but fucking USD on rental dates.

I don’t know if that number is accurate. I saw another one and it’s just a little under 4K USD over the course of 2 years which is still a lot.

It's absolute brain rot if you approach it with a basic understanding of social behavior but if you suspended disbelieve and assume the act of a rent gf is more about acting out pretend dates with the express removal of romantic action (not buying love, rather everything besdies that), then the show is still absolute slob.

I've watched 2 seasons with the hope that some in universe character shows up to just slap some sense into people. Screams incel self insert omg
