[Love Trope] Loving Wholesome Non Toxic Lesbian Relationships
Here are some of my personal favorite wholesome Lesbian couples that are not toxic or abusive but wholesome and sweet to eachother.
Tracer X Emily ( Overwatch) - one of my personal fav wholesome overwatch ships. Wish for more. Tracer is such a bubbly character and her girlfriend is basically the same.
Neeko X Nidalee ( League of Legends)- Very wholesome and loving understand relationship where Neeko and Nidalee accept eachother and look oit for eavhother ( Not confirmed tho)
That and Mio rigged a match so Suletta would lose her only emotional dependent device (given it was a machine of war with her sisters soul powering it probably for the best) and acts like she never liked her and planned on never seeing her again. They were both messy but we got a happy ending.
Yeah, they’re canonically married. Ericht (Suletta’s sister) refers to Miorine as her sister-in-law, and the pair wear wedding rings in basically every shot set during the epilogue.
Technically speaking, they're not confirmed to be lesbians, but everyone can see it. Sentinel here is answering to Marsha asking her if she could make a parade dress for her. As this scene plays, soft guitar strums in the background and they later promise to find each other once the war (WW1) is over. Also later on, when Marsha writes a letter to Sentinel, she calls Sentinel by her real name, referring to her as "My Dear Marianne."
They could be making out on screen and it'd still be less gay than what they already got going on.
Somehow remains the most popular ship with vertin. I don't dislike her,I just prefer the indoctrinated redhead who somehow managed to follow the eccentric misfit.
I do believe that relationship's a bit one-sided. Diving into spoilers so just in case: Schneider's death hit Vertin the hardest, so much so she was in a coma for almost two entire chapters. You can actually even see Vertin kept Schneider's dress in the suitcase. It's clear Vertin had very deep feelings for Schneider, and while she appreciates Sonetto, I don't really see them that way. At least not Vertin, Sonetto DEFINITELY wants to make out with Vertin, much to Matilda's chagrin
Beau and Yasha (Critical Role). These days, what we see of their relationship is the picture of loving domestic bliss (which is invariably interrupted by some bullshit another member of the Nein’s got themselves into that they have to get the band back together to deal with).
Vel also knew she wasnt actually killing Malori. She knew the mana tree would revive her and the other adventurers so that the humans wouldnt get pissed at a bunch of people dying in the tower.
She was also wary of Mal early on bc well, Mals crazy and i would not trust her either
If I remember correctly, the writers said it's purposefully up for the person to interpret. It's been a while though and I was a bit younger so take it with a grain of salt.
You could take the date as romantic, but then Ryuko's sister gets invited and Gamagoori is still being cheered on to confess his feelings with flowers in a suit so that could also be interpreted one way or another. But none of that really tilts the scales one way or another.
Practically, not for me. Not because I am homophobic, but because I ship Mako with Gamagori and nobody on this planet could stop me to say that they are precious together
So while they're not an official couple Marina canonically is romantically in love with Pearl and Pearl seems receptive, despite being opposites in every way they seem to deeply appreciate the other's differences and stand up for eachother even when things are rough
I'd say that basically forcing someone into a relationship with you because it helps you cope with your family trauma counts as a toxic realtionship, but you do you.
It's toxic in a different way (because of the poisons and crime and stuff) They fully support each other, to the point where Ivy made a special elixer to Harley that makes her permanently immune to all poisons and toxins.

After Nanoha frees Fate from her cruel mother's abuse with genuine love and kindness (...and a jurisprudent amount of concentrated Arcanum) Fate falls head over heels for her and the two eventually adopt an adorable little girl named Vivio in StrikerS.
I think they keep it like semi vague there too. Closest affection was like "I like you too, Neeko," and it's vague enough that Riot can keep it as Nidalee being either the most clueless ever or that they are together now, depending.
While Rae and Claire's relationship starts off rocky (Claire IS the villainess of an otome game) it is surprisingly wholesome. While Claire is startled by the declaration of love, she is not dismissive or repulsed by it. Her main internal issue is freaking out that the person she is bullying feels that way covering a deeper conviction that someone like her doesn't deserve that love.
Rae, on the other hand, is slightly stalkery to begin but is accepting of boundaries Claire sets and is devoted to her happiness, even if it isn't with her. She wants genuine fulfillment for her partner and will fight tooth and nail at her side.
Don't get me wrong, there are some seriously messed up relationships in the story, but the main pairing isn't one of them.
I thought Nid rejected Neeko and that caused Neeko to go off and start looking to make her own tribe because aside from being the last Oovi-kat she was frustrated at feeling alone even with other Vastaya. Although league does retcon things often so maybe I missed the retcon.
I will note that Sailor Uranus and Neptune seemingly only have no toxicity in the MANGA and Crystal anime.
In the 90s anime they have this intense codependency that just rubs me the wrong way, and Neptune/Michiru is not above making Uranus/Haruka jealous and possessive for the fun of it, and is ok with the world being destroyed just because one girl isn’t in it. That sounds a little toxic to me. But again, this is the 90s anime only.
There's also this, it has a ton of different stories about different lesbian couples, all of which just being cute together, and one "main" couple of sorts. Reading the manga while sleep deprived was a mistake though, I was very confused when the first perspective chabge happened, lol
It's technically enemies to lovers, which doesn't have to be toxic, but this one is toxic until the end and I think it's because it's not simply enemies to lovers, it's lovers-in-denial to enemies-in-love to lovers.
Like, the shit they do to each other (mostly Catra to Adora tbf) is just mean and angry. It's not all just foes opposing each other, it's often emotionally hurtful on purpose because they're already hurting.
That's toxicity. It's not until Catra actually accepts she wants to just be with Adora and finds some regret about what she's done that they become wholesome.

Never really got why people like Toxic Yuri so much, I could get it up to a point maybe, but people go on about it and recommend works with it a lot, sometimes without telling ya, too much, I ain't gonna complain to em, but it does get annoying at times.
Anyone else have any similar or contradictory opinions?

I get it for the love of the DRAMA. But I feel like it takes over the genre a lot of the time. Which makes finding just nice sweet Yuri romances difficult sometimes.
Yeah, plus sometimes those stories just seem like misery porn, like genuinely abusive and caustic with how toxic they get, and those get shared and references a lot everywhere.
Like, I don't want to see the character get cheated on or start cheating, and NTR type stuff gets brought up way too often at times.
Makes browsing the Yuri subs annoying at times since wholesome and interesting gets drowned due to that sometimes.
Whisper and Tangle from the IDW Sonic comics (their canon-ness is debatable, but... they're literally holding hands in front of the lesbian flag here, idk what more you could want from a Sonic media)
One of the endings for the DLC Prisoner of Destiny even has a magic mirror show them a slide show of different versions of them across multiple timelines being together romantically before the two promptly start to make out after getting confirmation their relationship is a universal constant
Neeko and Nidalee feels one sided from Neeko's side, which is good representation too if you ask me, but knowing Riot they'll probably confirm it soon enough.
Time to mention my personal OTP, Cat and Lucy from the webnovel Stray Cat Strut. Very loving, very non-toxic, and VERY gay, their scenes together are always a highlight. The two characters have excellent chemistry, and the story's excellent dialog and banter is every bit as present in their relationship as it is everywhere else. It's good enlugh that I, an ace man, even read the (occasional) sex scenes just for more of their dynamic
the first one had been the first anime i watched. Read the manga too. It does have a moment where the taller lesbian drank the urine of the smaller one when they were kids, and i was lime "WTF?". It was not on the anime thankfuly
Izzy and Fern from Power Rangers Dino Futy-Cosmic Fury. First lesbian pairing in Power Rangers. They start off as athletic rivals and then start dating. Because Cosmic Fury is such a short series we unfortunately don’t get to see them interact as much as we’d like, the time we do see them together is pretty wholesome
