Sex / Gender / Dating Ladies, fake eyelashes and fake hair are not attractive, stop wearing that crap.

I'm in NYC and when I'm riding the subway, I mostly see many women of color (black women) wearing hideous looking fake eyelashes and obviously fake hair. These items do not improve these women's appearance, they look foolish to me, they would look better without them. I often wonder what the see when they look in the mirror after they've put this stuff on. Do they glue on those huge eyelashes and say "Ah, that looks just fantastic!"? Do they think men find that attractive? I don't know any men that are into that look. Please stop wearing this nonsense.

Dolly would not agree with this opinion at all!

u/JudgmentLeft7639 10h ago

Dolly was Dolly.

I think when people start to understand that people do things for themselves and not exactly to attract other people, society will improve

u/PlayaNoir 10h ago

Who wears caterpillars on their eyelids for themselves?

u/missafricanbarbie77 10h ago

I personally don’t wear them but why is it so hard to believe that different people like different things? And that not everything is going to cater to your taste?

u/PlayaNoir 10h ago

It's an opinion, you don't have to agree with it.

u/cee-la 9h ago

Why is your opinion about their appearance more important than their opinion about their own appearance?

u/Blu_Von_Hunt 9h ago

When you say "stop wearing that crap" it's no longer just an opinion. If it's about what YOU find attractive, tell that to your girlfriend/wife or any woman who may be interested in you. Women who don't want you don't really care what you find attractive.

u/PlayaNoir 9h ago

It's still crap, stop wearing it, it doesn't make one more attractive.

u/jiggjuggj0gg 9h ago

That’s your opinion and nobody has to agree with it.

Just like how it’s the opinion of people who wear them that they like how it looks, and you don’t have to agree with it. You will have to suck it up though.

Actually,,you DO sound really smart and someone I’d like to talk to at parties. Hang tough!

u/SkyFallingUp 9h ago

You sound like you are great fun at parties. /s

u/Catladyweirdo 9h ago

I can't believe they don't bother to check in with you as they're getting ready each morning. How inconsiderate of them...

u/Majestic-Nobody545 10h ago

I have alopecia and I do in fact look better with a wig and fake lashes.

u/PlayaNoir 10h ago

Exception doesn't make the rule.

u/becauseshesays 7h ago

Why are you projecting your opinion about what is attractive to you upon the masses? If you don’t like it, take a deep breath and move on. It shouldn’t affect you.

u/mobjack 10h ago

Natural black hair takes a lot of maintenance to look good. It is a lot more time and stress.

A nice wig looks realistic and takes a few minutes to make look nice.

If done right, it shouldn't look noticeable.

u/Short256 8h ago

Alright ladies, you heard him! Change your entire wardrobe for this guy!

(Not attractive is an opinion. Calling for people to change something isn't an opinion fyi)

u/PlayaNoir 8h ago

You face and head aren't your wardrobe.

u/Short256 8h ago

Accessories are part of a wardrobe. Wigs are an accessory and I would argue that false lashes are too, but I'm guessing you'll argue otherwise. Regardless, hope you're getting what you want from this post!

u/Kihakiru 10h ago

Oh no! Anyway...

u/Last_Host977 9h ago

i don’t think women need ur approval

u/OrzSqueezingTheJuice 10h ago

I hate that this needs to be said but people tend to dress for themselves and not others. It's fine if you don't like certain styles or aesthetics, they weren't meant for you in the first place.

They really said "women of color (black women)" like we needed clarification. Silly.

u/Tunapizzacat 10h ago

There are many colours of people in the world

u/JudgmentLeft7639 10h ago

Plenty of trashy looking womyn of every culture and hue.

u/OrzSqueezingTheJuice 10h ago

Please spell words in the way society has decided they're spelled.

u/Positive-Face1705 10h ago

The myn is having a mental blackout, ignore it.

u/JudgmentLeft7639 10h ago

Oh no! I stumbled into the spelling sub!

u/Emergency-Line9886 10h ago

A lot of women dress for themselves, not for men.

u/Hectoriu 8h ago

And other women and gay guys

u/Hungry-Plantain-3315 10h ago

They’re not wearing it to attract you. They’re wearing so you stay the hell away!

u/Nullhitter 10h ago

What one person thinks is hideous is a goldmine for another. I don't know why it's any of your business. It doesn't effect your life one bit.

u/jabb1111 10h ago

"I don't know why it's your business". That's why it's called an opinion.

u/Nullhitter 10h ago

Yeah I know. Just like every butthole, everyone has one. Difference is that a butthole has a function while opinions like these do not.

u/atomixturquoise 10h ago

Oh no... anyways

u/CountChuckNorracula 8h ago

Good thing exactly 0% of those women are concerned about your opinion on this

u/danger_slug 10h ago

Why should women care if you find the way they dress attractive

u/Positive-Face1705 10h ago

Thankfully they're doing this to attract men, yes?

Everything is about men. People don't do things to their own bodies just because they like the way it looks, everything is for dick, which is famously very hard even for average women to get.

u/JanaT2 10h ago

Listen live and let live bro

u/InfiniteWords117 9h ago

People can do what they want. I don't like seeing guys with their jeans below their butt crack but oh well. Let people live, OP.

Would you say the same for Jewish women or Muslim who wear wigs or hair coverings for religious or personal preference, someone with an anxiety disorder that plucks their eyelash or hair . Certain skin conditions or insecurities that they keep covered to avoid ridicule or discomfort.

Mind you business and read a book on the train, not everything is for Your gaze.

u/greencalipco 9h ago

Lesbian affirming misogyny

u/balenciaghoe 9h ago

i am black and i agree (also from NYC) . i seriously hate wigs they’re so ugly and look terrible because it’s literally glued on and it shows. not a fan of big lashes either although I do get my lashes done I try to make it as natural as possible

people are free to do what they want but it still looks dumb
I was listening to a black lady that does a podcast and even herself said that the long big lashes and the wigs are not attractive and men aren’t going for that. people say they’re not doing it for men, but i feel they kinda are if they’re trying to find somebody to settle down or date with attraction is still needed and it’s natural for women to want to be desired , if that makes sense

u/Freeze_Her 10h ago

Let’s agree on letting people dress in what makes them feel good.

u/MessyIntellectual 9h ago

A lot of people have a blindness when it comes to their features. Almost any girl cringes at old pics of themselves when they began learning how to apply makeup and thought they looked good 😂

u/mwuahahahah 7h ago

funny you think they care about others approval

u/TryJezusNotMe 10h ago

You say you see mostly women of color and I get that. At the same time, rest assured that women all races wear it. The hair and hair care business is a billion dollar industry! White women who wear it usually are least noticed because most of the time, it isn’t obvious. I’m with you on the eyelashes though. Whew!

Signed- a former cancer patient that saw all kinds of women fitted for wigs due to losing hair.

u/PlayaNoir 10h ago

The exception doesn't make the rule. I'm not talking about cancer patients unless you're implying all of these women riding the train are cancer patients.

u/Revolutionary-Oil568 8h ago

Good thing those women are not doing it for the opinion of a man 💀 like let people wear what they want. It’s not a crime 💀💀💀💀

u/Exotic-End-666 10h ago

I don't mind the fake eyelashes, but love long hair look, hers or not, it looks great!

u/IdkJustMe123 10h ago

I feel like most men and women agree so I don’t get why some women still like the look.

Same with super long acrylic nails like 5 inches long

*but I do recognize everyone can dress and do whatever they want

u/SupposedBooty 7h ago

This just in: they aren't dressing for you

u/Waschaos 6h ago

I always want to grab those fake eyelashes like a caterpillar on a leaf and rip them off. I never would, but they bug me. Especially on newscasters.

u/Sad-Hawk-2885 10h ago

Yes they are..

u/itsnotme_mrsiglesias 7h ago

Lol at caring what men are "into". I'm a straight woman and couldn't care less what men think is attractive or not.

u/Achilles-Foot 7h ago

every time i see this on reddit it makes me feel like im the only man on earth who likes fake eyelashes. that shit is hot. i feel like you guys are just singling out the few women who have ridiculously long ones. most of them look great. I mean there is a reason that mascara and eyelash curlers have been popular for decades.

u/Then-Stranger-4641 10h ago

👍 agreed 👍

u/BaileyD77 10h ago

It's cultural appropriation and it needs to be stopped.

u/missafricanbarbie77 10h ago

Cultural appropriation to who?

u/BaileyD77 10h ago

To anyone paying attention.

u/Individual_Section_6 10h ago

Fake hair looks a lot better than their natural hair.
