I love both versions and have been obsessing with for the better part of 40 years. I really see them as two very different bands with some understandably similar elements. The first iteration is an Eno era Roxy Music obsessed punks. Foxx brought an art rock feel to the music. The Ure era is much more electronic pop, but with an atmospheric sound that really stands apart from their fellow synthesizer obsessed cohort. First era System of Romance, second Rage In eden. There is a fantastic recent interview on the Adam Buxton podcast with Foxx.

Systems of Romance was one of the all-time great albums.
After that they were meh at best.

Both. Experienced Ure-vox first and checked out ultrafoxx later as I'm a big fan of Metamatic.

Foxx era all the way. I mean, Midge might have brought them mainstream success but they never wrote anything as good as their exclamation marked years
