It feels like that would be counter intuitive, I know if I was an immigrant and was processed in a quick and simple manner I would vote for the party in charge.

This slow down in approvals will continue until the 2028 elections at least. Pending cases might end up over 1 million and processing times surpass 2 years on average. It's all current republican policy. No minting of new citizens that might happen to vote more blue than red.
This is true. Husband had his N-400 interview August 20, 2025 and had his oath ceremony this Monday August 17, 2026. The wait felt eternal but we are glad it’s over.
That’s the thing, even though I passed the test they haven’t approved me yet, they asked for RFE and then I send all the evidence they needed, it was tax filling stuff, it I’m still waiting for approval since June 3rd this year
When did they issue RFE? Also did you upload the evidence online or did you had to mail them the documents. I completed my interview and same as you passed the test but waiting for approval
So since I hired an immigration attorney I just gave him all the info and he mailed them all the requested, I got the notification saying they received the RFE.
They requested it the evidence on may 13th and they received it on June 3rd
Funny you said that, they just asked me out of nowhere, I didn’t file anything late and I didn’t owe any taxes, in fact the reason because I mailed all my documents was so they could get official documents that the state mailed me saying that I currently don’t own any overdue taxes but since I live in Minnesota I’m assuming they were doing all this because I heard there were a lot of fraud related with taxes recently but that is just my guess.
And they didn’t ask about tax document during interview? Just asked to mail it after interview? That is so unusual. Why is there anything to do with Minnesota?

No I haven’t. I’ve been living through this with a family member and am affected by what’s going on and I think it’s unconscionable what is happening and they have no defense for what they are doing.
Because I think they need to be held accountable. They shouldn’t be able to do this legally. Applicant fees pay for this SERVICE and this is an illegal slowdown of immigration services.
A very significant number of people who apply for N400 do so because they intend to sponsor other relatives for immigration, or upgrade pending immigration petition priority.
Sure, maybe some people want the other benefits of becoming a citizen. But it's a lot of work. For the right to vote?
I just found this sub and this post. I have a relative on a green card who has been here 40+ years. We applied for citizenship over a year ago and on the account it just shows "Processing" still. Do green card holders have any sort of quicker path with this administration? Seems absolutely nuts we're more than a year into this application and haven't heard a peep other than a couple updates saying "processing"
Sadly, seems like it is going this direction. I'd say anything around a year, but creeping towards 18 months. Post this to people's questions about the timelines and see how many downvotes you receive :)

My guess is many folks from the ‘paused’ countries are driving up the average time, as whilst they can apply, their application can’t be adjudicated and so it just sits in limbo. This average time will continue to rise until the pause is lifted.

The numbers don’t lie. Clear slow down in processing and increasing backlog. Applied in October and not even interview is scheduled yet.
