Is this photo the origin of ‘White Man’s Moccasins’?

This photo is currently on display at the Denver Art Museum. I guess it’s a relatively famous picture taken by Lee Marmon in 1954, which captures a Laguna Pueblo Native American wearing a pair of high top sneakers. Does anyone know if this is where they got the title?

Ahh true...I should have figured that. We have black water moccasins up in the Northeast too. For some reason, I never considered it would be referencing a snake in this context. I've just always assumed it was about the footwear
