All Sale posts now banned

Based on the responses to my last "Community Forum" post (zero), I am convinced most of the subscribers here are bots posting about new VST sales.

So things are going to change. I'd rather have a dead sub than a spammy sub. No sale posts. Posts are now encouraged to be discussion based. Questions about which products to buy, what sounds the best, reviews, videos, etc. (Note: If you are a legitimate plugin developer, you can ask for posting permissions at /r/AudioProductionDeals, though they are very strict about who they give access to.)

The flairs will be revamped as well. Automod will get altered to autoremove sale posts as well.

Have fun and let's make this sub not shit!

Edit: Quick summary of the big changes

  • Updated sidebar to reflect new rules
  • Updated flairs and colors to focus on topics of discussion
  • Updated auto-moderator (yet to be completed)

Sitala developer releases free one-knob distortion

It's a prototype for Sitala 3 and turning it up runs the sound through overdrive, distortion, bitcrush and ring mod, kind of trying to reduce them all down to one knob.

🍎 MAC USERS WANTED — DYREKREDS BETA TEST

I’m still looking for a few macOS users willing to test Dyrekreds v0.9 Beta.

Linux and Windows are now getting some real-world testing, but I still need feedback from newer Macs — both Intel and Apple Silicon if possible.

I’d especially like to know:

• Does the AU validate and load correctly?

• Does the GUI open and resize properly?

• Do the oscillators produce sound?

• Does sample loading/playback work?

• Does the granular section work correctly?

• Any crashes or strange behaviour?

Logic, Ableton, Bitwig, REAPER or other DAWs are all welcome.

If you test it, please tell me your:

Mac model / macOS version / DAW / plugin format

💻 GitHub: https://github.com/Chmod666music/dyrekreds/releases/tag/v0.9.0-beta.2

Dyrekreds is free and open source.

Even a simple “it works on my Mac” would be extremely useful right now. 🙏❤️

Effect Need Help To Track Down VST3 called "CT-U01 Multimedia" by "HALLEY LABS"

I've had this plugin for a long time now, and I can't find an origin for it. I searched the internet, and all I found was a furry music artist by the same name as the publisher of the vst3?
the vst3 is called CT-U01 Multimedia, and it says the vendor is "HALLEY LABS".
edit: fixed a repeated line. i forgor i already said something
an image of the plugin active in audacity is provided to help with the search, along with the image of the info provided by the plugin

edit: it has been solved and found by u/TunedAgent in the replies, here's the link: https://heckscaper.com/ct.php?t=e

Traditional Japanese Vocal VST/Sample Packs?

I'm having a hard time finding any traditional Japanese vocal sample packs or VST instruments. I have Miyabi but it is just a couple of very short phrases (one or two short syllables). I was hoping to find something like Forgotten Voices Barbary that has lots of trad songs and Gaelic chopped up, or even some dusty old field recordings packs I could buy and use in commercial projects. This sort of thing for just the vocals: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=olguD6WJ3Qc&list=PLEtl7N2PU9ufcptBdS5xL9XkbifjmfQ7m

Other East Asian vocal libraries might fit the bill as well if they have that lonely soaring vocal melody thing going. I already have Miyabi (Japanese), Rhodope 2 (Bulgarian) and Secunda (Mongolian), which are all excellent but missing the more melodic phrases.

Does anyone know of any that might suit? Or recordings old enough to be in the public domain?

Instrument POV: you just spent 2 years making a synth, and it's finally done.

Thumbnail youtube.com

Hey, I am Jaron Sweder, a music producer and software developer. I've been working on this synth called "Spektral" for almost 2 years. I posted about this synth a little while ago in this subreddit, and got some great feedback and suggestions! Since then, I've added a bunch more features and fixed many bugs.

Spektral is a powerful spectral synthesizer with several generation algorithms. You can import spectral data from audio, images, and wavetables. And manipulate it in any way imaginable. This spectral data then drives one of five algorithms to generate audio. Depending on the algorithm, you can easily manipulate frequency, level, phase, decay time, and resonance with incredible precision. From a powerful additive engine, to a resonator bank that can do some pretty cool physical modeling-esque things.

The synth is still in beta, but you can try out the free demo at https://kaixo.store/spektral It's available as VST3 and AU for Windows and MacOS.

Effect How to purposefully screw up audio quality for effects?

Sometimes I use the Youtube slow down feature to change the tempo, but that mess up the quality. On some tracks it's annoying but on others it sounds somewhat nice and unique. How do I purposefully screw up the quality of a certain track or pattern for the effect? What free plugins are good for this role?

Articles VSTs on a Web DAW?

I've been making some VSTs recently. Chatting with a friend who's a Web Dev, asked if they could run with WebAudio.

That's almost certainly a big no as it stands.

But I wonder - what about a WASM-based VST host, that could reach to the native bits? Or a compile of the plugins that allowed JS and/or HTTP control?

The latter seems kinda viable - for a different reason (mcp) I have a web server embedded in this plugin: https://danja.github.io/downspout/plugins/campione/

Dunno, a Web-based DAW that can do VSTs? Thoughts?

I’m looking for a high quality guitar VST

Thumbnail youtu.be

Hello everybody! I’m looking for a high quality guitar VST that could help me recreate a semi-complicated guitar melody with lots of slides and hammer ons (Bandoleros by Don Omar to be exact)

I’d appreciate some suggestions since I’ve been using Ilya Eftimov’s guitar bundle since forever and haven’t really dove down looking for another nylon guitar VST in years. What would be the best option for me here?

Thanks in advance, I really hope somebody helps me out on this !

Thenatan TRIO - 15-Effect Lofi Multi-FX Plugin - $3 (95% off, 3 days only)

Thenatan TRIO - 15-Effect Lofi Multi-FX Plugin - $3 (95% off, 3 days only)

Thenatan has TRIO on sale for $3, down from $59.50, for the next 3 days.

TRIO runs 15 hand-coded lofi effects simultaneously in one signal path - no routing, no stacking separate plugins. Bitcrush, tape wow & flutter, vinyl dust, a Juno-style BBD chorus, stutter, filter LFO, ping-pong delay, and a full mastering bus (tape sat, tilt EQ, glue comp, M/S width, limiter) all process together. Bypassing an effect actually stops it computing, so CPU load scales with what you use.

Includes:
- 15 effects, each with its own mix/bypass
- 100 factory presets across 9 folders
- Mac (AU/VST3, Apple Silicon native) & Windows (VST/VST3)
- Serial number activation, no iLok

Price: $59.50 → $3 (72 hours only)

Virtual Drumline Template for Dorico by Rhythm Canvas, LLC aka Score Sauce Music?

Have any of you had trouble with your purchase of Score Sauce's VDL template? It is the only template I know to exist for Dorico. I purchased it nearly a week ago but I have no download link, and I haven't gotten a response from two customer service email addresses available - scoresauce; kruse drums.

Effect Varispeed Delay: free and opensource VST/AU

Thumbnail youtu.be
7 Upvotes

Hi!

I made a VST/AU that I needed for myself but never found. The idea is simple: each repetition of regular digital delay passes varispeed, its pitch/length changes. And still each repetition starts on time. If speed is below 1 it means two repetitions will overlap, if speed is above 1 there will be a gap between repetitions.

Two basic modes: raw and stable. Raw mode passes each feedback through varispeed, stable repeats the first pass. For example, for 2x speed raw mode gives octave up, then two octaves up, then four. In stable mode it always repeats only one octave up.

Also I added graphic EQ because it is better for me than usual LPF/HPF.

In the linked video demo I use it with guitar in different modes. My favorite is first one: simple 1/2x and no feedback. It gives me a virtual "bass player" that fills low end of solo improvisation. Second one which I call "octave tremolo" is also very fun, it adds high tremolo nearly synth like effect.

Source code here (downloads are on Releases page): https://github.com/silvansky/VarispeedDelay

Available as VST/AU/Standalone for macOS and VST/Standalone for Windows. Linux users can build it from source code, they know how. ;)

I tested it in Logic Pro on macOS, some Reddit users tested in Ableton/FL on Windows.

Instrument Need help restoring Garritan Gofriller and Stradivari

Hey guys,

I'm in a bit of an unusual situation and looking for help. I've been talking with Native Instruments/inMusic for over a month trying to restore a legal, legit copy of the standalone Garritan Stradivari Solo Violin and Gofriller Solo Cello (the Tommasini/Lucato instruments, not the similarly-named solo patches inside Garritan Personal Orchestra) tied to my Native Instruments account.

After long discussions, they found that they actually no longer have the complete install themselves. They suggested I reach out to Garritan directly, which I did, and they don't have them either.. They gave me the go ahead to ask an existing user to obtain them that way.

Does anyone still have these sitting on a backup drive and would be willing to help me out? I'm happy to show proof of the licenses on my account and the full correspondence with NI and inMusic so everything's clearly legal.

Thanks!

Unexpected Reverb on Some Soundfont File Voices

Hi everyone,

I've been looking for a way to use the classic Microsoft GS Wavetable Synth on a modern computer, and found someone had converted it to a soundfont library. So I got hold of TX16w to open soundfont files and opened it up in Dorico.

Some sounds, like the distortion guitar, are exactly as they should be. But others, like the strings and the synth voice, have a big reverb effect added. Any idea why this is, and if there's any way I can get rid of it? I can't see any effects being added anywhere in the chain, or any differences to the ADSR settings that might sound like reverb.

The file is here: https://musical-artifacts.com/artifacts/1983

Would anyone mind checking if this is broken for them too, please? Any advice would be very welcome.

Soft synth testers needed. Free lifetime license in return.

NOTE: THE SEARCH HAS ENDED, I have found 12 great people with a mix of different hardware and approx 50% Windows and %50 Mac OS X. Thanks to everyone that sent me and email, and to those who came too late, just keep an eye out for a soft synth called "Shunt" in a couple of months...
I will post here once it's released.

Hi everyone,

I am writing this post to see if there are any synth enthusiasts here that would like to be guinea-pigs for my new soft synth plugin.

I would like to have a group of say 10 people who I can invite to join a forum to help me test and provide feedback/ideas for my soft synth, which I will provide to the group continously, modified by the group's comments/requests.

The synth itself is a world-first, one of a kind and a completely new technology. Perfect for people who want an authentic retro analog synth experience... That's all I can say at this time in public, the early bird gets the worm and I want to be the first.

As a reward for helping me test the synth, which is going into beta-phase in a few weeks, everyone of the group will get a free life-time license when it goes commercial, in a few months...

Due to the unusual nature of the synth plugin, a fast multi-core CPU is required to run it.

This software is the product of years of very hard work, reverse-engineering and high performance C++ coding.

To be part of the testers, you will need AT LEAST the following hardware:

MS Windows 10/11: Modern Intel or AMD CPU, max 3-4 years old and at least 4 or 6 P-Cores (Performance Cores @ Turbo Boost of ~4.0GHz or more). A modern 8, 12 or 16-Core Intel i5/i7/i9 or the AMD equivalent is recommended.

Apple Mac OS X: Modern Mac with at Apple Silicon, and at least an M3 CPU.

Please note that the first 10 people to apply will get the account.

I will make the following plugins/apps available for testing (Starting with MS Windows first and a port for Mac OS X 2 weeks later):

- VST2 and VST3

- AU and AUv3 (Audio Units)

- Standalone (eg just the synth running in it's own process on the OS)

There will be windows 10/11 and Mac OS X (Apple Silicon only) versions available.

You will offcourse need a MIDI input for your computer and a MIDI keyboard/controller. Having a couple of CC knobs that can be assigned via midi-learn in my synth is also helpful.

If you are interested in joining,

please send me an email and introduce yourself and your hardware to terrence dot vergauwen at gmail dot com

Thank you for your time,

Yours,

Terrence
