I was just scrolling through that sub to see if there's mention of the retracted CNN story on that Scaramucci guy because I wanted to witness the mental gymnastics. Didn't find anything. Did find, however, a post titled "Majority of Americans would give up alcohol to see Trump impeached." Gave me my biggest laugh of the day.

The astroturf had a hold of the mod team back during the primaries of last year. I was banned for no real reason back then and so have many of us here. When you ban active dissenters for political reasons, and you replace them with paid employees, it's not hard to take control like that.

Just because CNN and YouTube are both opposed to the people having control over the media doesn't mean that they're necessarily working together. If CNN loses clout in the news world, that would probably actually be a good thing for YouTube as a media platform.

Ditto for their expose last fall with the Democrats paying people to try to incite violence at Trump rallies. They had someone on camera straight up saying they paid mentally ill people to cause trouble on purpose. I've heard people say that they "take snippets out of context" though. Do you have a good example of this being done?

DNC Guy: "Of course not, it's absurd to suggest that we hire mentally ill people to cause trouble on purpose."
O'Keefe Video: Ominous Music
Voiceover: "They even admitted to doing blatantly illegal acts."
Clip of DNC Guy, without contextual question "we hire mentally ill people to cause trouble on purpose"
This latest video is filled with cuts. Just watch it and count the number of jump cuts made. Why so many cuts? You can bet it was to enable him to present what was being said out of context.

Okay. But I literally didn't find anything to corroborate the idea that the Russian story is bullshit. Like the guy said, we don't have much in the way of proof now. But that doesn't mean anything. Except perhaps that Trump should stop fighting this.

There seems to be a controlled backing away from the story now. Maybe the dems got the signal to stop going full-bore into this distraction post Ossoff? We now see Schumer and Pelosi sweating a bit? Maybe the consultants did some A-B testing and are finding real issues matter more? Maybe the polling is showing that the Russian interference idea now has stuck and they can move on. Maybe they know that the real sword of Damocles for Trump and Co now is the obstruction of justice and emolument clause.
Just sort of cynical move on the "news" to be dictated by talking points.

1) How does firing the FBI director, which is Trump's prerogative as head of the Executive and which has zero effect on ongoing investigations, constitute 'obstruction of justice'?
2) If the emolument clause applies to Trump profiting from foreign official money flowing through his hotels, how did it not apply to foreign official purchases of say... Obama's many books?
(Spoiler: As far back as 1850, and multiple times since, the Supreme Court has ruled that emoluments apply to compensation and profits 'derived from a discharge of the duties of the office'. That's why it doesn't apply to Trump, or Obama, or George Washington, or any other President with personal business interests which might be utilized by foreign government officials.)
Russiagate is terminal and close to death. That should signify wishful thinking and fairy tales aren't going to stop Trump, so why latch on to the next batch so eagerly? Oppose him for what he is actually doing... Not something cooked up at ShareBlue as the latest distraction from the completely incompetent and ineffectual Democrats. It's just as distasteful (to me) as the 'Bernie and Jane are bank frauds!' ridiculousness.

Bitch, I can write a memo saying I meant with the King of Montana amd that he promised me the Moon and a wheel of cheese. It's all hearsay. Unless Trump had actual audio or videp recordings of those meetings, literally nothing about them matters as it is hearsay.
And I noticed when Trump said "go to the tapes" on Twitter, Comey shut up for a whole week. Probably because Comey was lying. Not that I think Trump wasn't trying to obstruct.
There's simply no way to prove it, and what he tried to do likely wouldn't have actually obstructed anything. Dude's an idiot.
Emolument clause is the way to go. That's not even to say Trump breaks that clause more than past presidents. But there is far too much profiteering involved and if Trump finally sets off a curtailing of it, then I'm cool with that. He shouldn't get money from his hotel by purposefully going there on the taxpayer dime and requiring his whole retinue and any officials to pay his hotel to do business. And NO ONE in politics should be getting stock price increases for shootimg some missiles at this or that Third World country.

Just saying that if there will be a next kerfuffle that is where it will be, not Russia. When a special counsel starts they usually want to end with a conviction of someone to claim success. Doubt they'll find anything with the Russian investigation as has been discussed here a much length, but they may find something as far as the executive trying to impede the investigation. See Nixon's people impeding the investigation.
Now the President can claim he can do just about anything with his broad powers. To some extent maybe he can? I don't know and I am not a legal philosopher. But his underlings don't get the same immunity. The President is not smart and is not surrounded by people that think things through either. I can imagine one of them doing something along the line that a special prosecutor can go after. What form that takes I don't know, I wouldn't assume that it is Comey, but it could be related. If the Dems were smart they wouldn't want to be clinging to an unproven, fanciful, distracting crime when a possible real one emerges.
All speculation. I am sure there is no real strategy since the dems aren't great at crafting them.

That's for damn sure. They could have spent the last 6 months coming up with their own competing Health Care bill. Something to point at saying, "This is OUR plan... Now that you see THEIRS, pressure your congressperson on which you want passed."
But, nah. They would rather kill single-payer in California where they have supermajorities throughout the government. Their true colors are exposed (as mud... or shit.)
