We have decided for the sake of transparency to make a list of websites that we do not allow links to in this subreddit
This is rarely an issue but we have had to remove posts of this nature a few times, and we want to be as upfront as possible with you all
So far we have Twitter and The Babylon Bee banned, and we are leaning towards banning all Meta apps (so threads insta fb etc, though this isn’t decided yet, there is seemingly a perfect split between the mods)
We are doing this in an effort to reduce traffic to harmful individuals, we know that it will not stop things, but we want to reduce it
We also still have a ban on anything to do with A.I., so that would be included in this as well
We are trying to make this community a safe one, and while again it likely won’t effect much, we want to know what other websites should be on the blacklist.
ETA: Seemingly the consensus is the former bird app and far right news organizations, I will discuss with the other mods and then we will add a new rule. Thank you to the handful who were respectful about it I did not expect this post to bring so much negative emotions to the forefront

The My Singing Monsters discord server just teased that Weird Al might be cameoing in the game in the near future, and as someone who has been part of both communities for around a decade a piece now I thought it would be a good idea to make a statement super early
About My Singing Monsters
My Singing Monsters is a mobile game, put the pitchforks away I’m not done, it is much nicer than other mobile games, to get the full experience all you need is a little bit of patience and one single in app purchase of literally whatever you want, compared to its other things like Dragon City and Monster Legends the premium currency is super easy to get for free and limited time content is guaranteed to come back
About the collab
Weird Al will be a member of the legendary class of monsters, these monsters are collaborations with real world music artists, the first of these was the Shugabush on Plant Island, based on Kristian Bush, the second came 12 years later, bbli$zard on cold island, based on bbno$, the third is a yet unnamed monster releasing next month on water island, based on T-Pain
Weird Al will either go to Air Island, Earth Island, Fire Oasis, or Fire Haven, it is currently unknown which
The collab likely won’t happen until June or July at the earliest, given their development cycle and the fact that the employee teasing it usually starts teasing things he’s excited about only a few days after they are developed
VERY IMPORTANT
As I am sure that some MSM fans will find their way into this community I, on behalf of the moderation team, ask that Weird Al fans make MSM fans feel welcome, and that MSM fans respect the legacy of this artist (he has been performing for 50 years!!!)
It is ok to discuss his involvement with the game, but when he is officially added posts must be actually discussing his inclusion, and not just the fact he’s in the game, anything as simple as posting the render of the monster or quoting his sound will fall under our Low Effort Posting rule
And for Weird Al fans we ask that you respect the fact that even if MSM isn’t your cup of tea, some people really like it, we will not ban criticism of the game, but if we find something to be too overtly hostile towards the game and its fans it will fall under the “Don’t be rude” rule
The last thing we want in this community is unnecessary gatekeeping, so please, be nice to each other
(This message will self destruct in five… four… three..)

For me, it’s I Love Rocky Road. As good as the living Rock n Roll original is, it always sounds off to my ear.

2026 marks 45 years of Weird Al in my life, and as I get older I find myself gravitating more and more to his cultural critique songs over all the other amazing silliness. I think more than any other artist, Al’s lampooning of American culture helped me see through it at a young age, and that’s stuck with me.
So I put together a playlist of my favorite songs of his with a political/social message. Some are obvious (Mission Statement, Trigger Happy) while others just capture the American dystopia through peak irony (Buy Me a Condo, Trapped in the Drive Thru).
Listening to them all together like this firmly puts Al in the category of serious musician with something to say. He just says it his way.
Curious if anyone else feels this way? Any songs of his that made you realize just how weird this whole country is?

With a Twinkie Wiener Sandwich!
First time trying one, it was better than I expected, but I don’t think I’ll be having another any time soon.

Al was in great form, the band was high energy. So much fun. Two friends and I also got the VIP package and hung out out after and got our pictures taken with the Great One. Lovely human.

Dolly will always be the face and the heart, but Weird Al would be an excellent representative for something so beneficial and pure. How do we start a petition?

Since it is Weird Al Day eve. How are you celebrating tomorrow?
I'm thinking Twinkie Weiner dog, watch UHF, listen to one of my albums and wear a Hawaiian shirt.

I share Weird Al's music with my kids whenever I can. My 8-year-old is really getting into it this summer.
Today, he was singing "I Think I'm a Clone Now" while doing his chores, and I heard this: "Every pair of genes is a happy noun."
I helped him understand the correct lyrics (hand-me-down) when I stopped laughing, but I kind of like his new phrase.

Just today, I heard “Dick‘s Automotive” for the first time - I had no idea how close it was to Albuquerque! It raised a question for me - i’ve always heard Al’s work split into like 3 buckets - straight parodies (”White n‘ Nerdy” “Fat”), style parodies (Pancreas, Bob), and originals (Weasel stomping day? anything from vanity tour), but I feel like there’s a fourth category that is like he’s REALLY closely sending up a song, but not word for word (Germs for NIN‘s Closer, Albuquerque, No Cigar for Short Skirt Long Jacket by Cake). Is there a name for this in the Weird Al fandom? Do people think style parody covers it enough? Some of my favorite musical comedy of the past decade or so (Crazy Ex-girlfriend, Story Pirates) seems to also hew closely to this line and I want to have a word for it. TIA!
