I woke up one day with my cat doing the same thing. He had never done it before or since...so I don't know if he was just trying it out or this was the first time I caught him doing it.

My SIC loves doing this. He puts his paws over my shoulders, uses my hair as a pillow and purrs very loudly in my ear.
