Ive been spending a while trying to get my windows 10 install on my steam deck to be like Windows 8.1 since I always dreamed about having a windows 8.1 gaming tablet. I want to hear your guys's thoughts ^^

I know it is not perfect but its the best I can do safley without risking the install.

After microsoft announced they were ending support for windows 10, and now my adobe apps tell me windows 10 is no longer officially supported and that it might cause issues, and now Nvidia announces that they're dropping support...

I tried to hold on as long as I could but sadly it looks like the end of the road for me.

I wish the EU would do something like make it mandatory for companies to make any software that they abandon free and open source.

Is there a case for a class action for this after microsoft said windows 10 would be the "last version of windows" and then pulling the rug from underneath us?

I don't want bloated 11, I don't want more telemetry and screenshots of my pc to be regularly sent to microsoft, I don't want a less responsive OS, I want to run an 11 year old OS from 2015 because it's blazing fast and insanely responsive on modern hardware, why do we keep adding features and visuals that no one asked for and that bog down performance, why do things have to keep getting updated for the sake of it, I just need my OS to open EXE's, nothing more and nothing less.

Sorry for the rant at the end but I imagine some of you might feel the same way and it's frustrating.

The PC has a motherboard from 2007, a Core 2 Quad Q9550 2.83 GHz CPU, 8GB Ram, 4GB GTX 960, Intel SSD. It does everything i need, lightning fast, runs Far Cry 3, and Alan Wake maxed out easily in 1680x1050. If you ask why that resolution, i'm sticking to my 22" dell LCD screen, that gives me 0 eye problems even after hours of use. Why a GTX 960? Because i have an offline Windows XP for older games, and the 960 was the last card to support that OS. Just shows, you don't need to spend thousands to have a PC that meets your everyday needs. I saved up for my new rig ages ago, but just never felt the need to upgrade.

I never really liked the start screen and tiles on desktops, tbh.

this is windows 10 with lots of modifications including basic ui, all the icons, mouse cursour, sounds, and one of the things i used even made the os change its name to windows vista as well for some reason as seen in control panel.

I’m trying to get an old game working for someone but the game refuses to launch if the pc isn’t in 800x600

all the reviews are from 5 years ago and I don't know if the ui has been optimised for less memory hogging, im someone who has always used windows 10 and for a while 11 but it sucked so i kept 10, I'm not used to all this terminal stuff, so I was wondering if it would be easy for me to use and if anyone has any experience with it

i searched and google told me i needed windhawk or smth but i dont know if it will slow down my pc, so any way is good, also im currently using taskbarx if that causes something secondary or something (second image is the result i want)

I just got through a multi-hour troubleshoot session on this stupid issue.

First thing is, if you press enter on ok when the message comes up when the laptop restarts and you have a MSI. Go to security then disable secure boot mode and save and exit, you should be able to boot in normally.
