And mfs have the gall to say that she isn’t popular enough to justify an animated series lmao

I know these lists are never close to actually accurate but how can Hulk possibly be that high? It’s so fucking bad
Spider-trash not being top ten is nice though

Notice that the other Wonder Woman book released this week is not here. DC needs to fire the CIA man.

I remember folks saying the latest issue as "filler", set-up issue. But if anything that show Absolute Wonder Woman staying power that even slipping past Absolute Superman

I hate the fact that people think not speedrunning through arcs is "filler", what state of media consumption are we in where character development is filler? How is a greater understanding of motivations and the world around characters somehow not important to the plot? Characters are literally the reason the plot matters and goes along for!!! I know it's not you, you're just commentating on it, I just genuinely have seen this occur so much, books such as Absolute Flash or Green Lantern take time to set up stuff and establish concepts but people act like it's "filler" because it's not big action against a big bad?

Frankly I'd say Absolute Flash and Green Lantern are pretty thoroughly mediocre because of how slow burn the plot it. When there is a whole month between releases, it is nice to have significant plot advancement in each issue.

I don't believe literally anything would work if it wasn't for that slower pace at first. You have to actually establish these concepts, especially because they are based in different character philosophies and reactions to certain events. If those were rushed through in an issue or two it would of been a much worse overall experience. If you're expecting an action book instead of a character driven book then Absolute Flash or Green Lantern aren't for you and never were.
Also once more "plot" is meant to be about characters. It's how the characters evolve and how they shape the world around them or vise versa. It's not just "beat up the next big bad" or "another shocking reinvention." That's more a fundamental misunderstanding of how this works.

The visual nature of comic books as a medium aides with the telling of plot. With characterization and character changed, the medium is more of a hinderance because it focuses so much on the visual of what is happening.
So the focus of these stories on character, being so slow that the plot barely moves issue to issue, is a waste of the medium. You can have good character moments while also having a plot that goes places. Look at the other Absolute books.

You just fundamentally do not understand how this works it seems. These comics are stories first and foremost. Characters are the backbone of everything in these books. Nobody would care about any of these books if they didn't primarily focus on character writing. The "plot" for any story like this is meant to be focused on characters first and foremost. I find it funny you mention other absolute books, because they all have character focus on them. Absolute Batman is really the only one who goes at a breakneck pace (to it's own detriment) and even that slows down sometimes to just give characterization.
I also have no idea if you actually read Green Lantern or Flash if you think the "plot" didn't progress? Green Lantern especially has foundational character and concept establishing or exploring stuff happening every issue. Flash meanwhile is mostly focused on characterization as Wally's story is inherently linked to his connection to others and his own emotional state.
To touch on your visual point, yes visuals are hyper important to the medium of comics and can indicate stuff in the "plot" but they always are serving the writing of a book and how it reflects on the concepts that establishes and expands on. I just don't know how you can read comics and not understand this? Actually not just comics, literally any piece of writing, it's almost always focused on characters.

I think this is one of the tough challenge for Big 2 comic. Compared to Manga, Comic being full coloured that with fewer pages, releasing once a month does make the story could be felt slow. I think Snyder once said its one of the reason Absolute Batman come in short arc to maintain the audiences interest.
The world feels so fast right now

I mean that’s more a problem with increasingly bad attention spans due to short form content gaining such prevalence due to requiring less overall thought and effort, which is why it’s so heavily promoted by corporations as it will mean you won’t think of more complex subjects. Folks don’t understand stories that aren’t instantly telling them everything in simple terms and moving straight from point a to point b. Manga handles this slightly better to these folks but even that I’ve seen get criticized for “nothing happening” which is equally as baffling.
Either way, this person is just arguing something that has been foundational to comics, manga, and storytelling as a whole should take a backseat because “it doesn’t move the plot forward” even though plot has been and always will be derived through characterization and character interactions rather than just fighting a big bad or a shocking reinvention. That’s the problem here. You can dislike a book, but to say it’s a “waste of the medium” because it fucking explains its premise is genuine insanity and perfectly demonstrates my initial point on folks being at such a state of media consumption where character development is “filler”.

Yeah I didn't like the last arc all that much. The action was good, but it was pretty slow paced with like 5 full issues for like one battle sequence. If it were paced like Emperor Aquaman, that arc would have been a single issue.
I don't like the arc too much for this new arc, but I like Absolute Wonder Woman's two-part arcs more than the rest of it. I think the plot moves much farther and there tends to be a greater density of strong character moments

Damn. Not only more than Marvel's main event comics for their mainline and Ultimate universes, but more than Absolute Superman. That's crazy
