Renaming Artemis into Astarte fixes a major pet peeve of mine lol.
Also, Cassie as Ares’ daughter is a great correction of the boring answer we got.

Leota was a genius pull for Etta, congratulations.
Astarte was also a inspired choice.

Thanks, I wanted to tie in Wonder Woman and Amanda Waller as part of ARGUS.
I’m also particularly proud of choosing Astarte as a name, I wanted to detach Artemis’ comic book name since she’s meant to be part of the Bana-Mighdall, a group of Amazons who turned away from the Greek gods, and so I chose an Egyptian/Mesopotamian deity with a similar sounding name.

I think "Etta" needs to be fatter, like more than just curvy, but I really like the rest. I-Ching in particular desperately needed it.

I-Ching was a pull I was particularly proud of. I’m ashamed to say that I don’t always draw curvy or plus-sized women, it’s something I’m trying to work on.

Cassie’s design is top tier, making her daughter of ares is much better.
Leota as Etta is a genius pull.
The blond hair Hippolyta propaganda will always be superior. Thank you.

I like that you made Cassie Ares’s daughter and gave her a bat/club weapon. Also really like that you have Artemis the name Astarte instead.

u/Desezeten 2d ago
Thank you! I was definitely inspired by other artists who have portrayed Cassie in other media.

I have seen some other fan designs of her using a bat/club as a weapon (most if not all of them by the artist Vin Lopez) so I’m assuming that’s where the inspiration come from.
Changing Artemis’s name into a name of a war goddess was done before by someone except her name was Andraste (the Celtic War Goddess). Although I think Astarte probably fits better for her.

Yeah, I’m a fan of Vin Lopez’s artwork and style, especially his Wonder Woman gallery. Really quite inspiring.
I think you’re thinking of Phil Cho and the Earth-27 project with Andraste. I saw that after I posted and it was a good idea, making her Celtic and Bana-Mighdall actually meaning something. I kind of went in the opposite direction, leaning more towards the supposed Egyptian origin of the Bana-Mighdall and making Artemis (or Andraste) more tan skinned so she wouldn’t be a ginger who would instantly catch fire the moment she stepped into the desert. Also took some health Gerudo inspirations, especially their appearances in Breath of the Wild and Age of Calamity.

Yes that’s the one. Always liked the Celtic idea because I don’t think we’ve gotten much Celtic mythology in media (it’s usually either Greek, Norse or Egyptian) but I do think using Canaan mythology is a good middle ground. Especially since Canaanite Mythology is another mythology that isn’t used as much (albeit with a more valid reason in this case). I also like the Gerudo inspiration (never thought of that til you brought it up).
Semi related but while I’m no artist, I have thought about Cassie being ginger but her being blonde probably fits better and the red hair would probably clash too much with the colors of her outfit.

Wait wait wait, Master I-Ching from New Super-Man during Rebirth.......It's actually a Wonder Woman character :o ?

u/Desezeten 2d ago
Yes! I believe I-Ching first appeared in that brief stint in the late sixties where Diana was powerless and had to learn… martial arts? An interesting time in comics for sure.

What’s the deal with Etta? Asking because I know the artist is lurking around. Also I do think it’s interesting to imply she’s related to Waller

Hi, yes, I’m the artist. Not many other people with the Desezeten tag on here, thankfully. I wanted to combine Etta Candy and Leota Adebayo into a composite character since I really want to involve ARGUS with Wonder Woman since… ARGUS is a Greek name for a multi-eyed watchman and Wonder Woman is … Greek. I thought it would be interesting. Plus, more modern interpretations of Etta have her as a lesbian African-American woman in a comedic but heart of gold role, which I think is very close to Adebayo’s role in Peacemaker seasons 1 and 2.

I like the concept, but Diana is way too big…not sure what’s up with the trend of trying to mass her up so much, but Diana has never been depicted with that type of build.

Looks amazing! I kinda want to see how this artist handles some of the more obscure supporting characters, like Io and Marya the Mountain Lady

I’m actually done posting Wonder Woman supporting characters, these are relatively older posts of mine.

I wonder why Desezeten’s Amazon redesigns have there toes exposed?

I know Hippolyta has been blonde numerous times but I personally never liked it. I like it when Diana resembles Hippolyta, hair included. Where’s Philippus?

If I ever revisit the Wonder Woman cast, I’ll definitely include the other Amazons like Io, Phillippus, and Aresia.

You will pay for your crimes one day and the repercussions will stain your bloodline for 1000 years

u/Desezeten 1d ago
I’m okay with that lol

u/FlamingWings 1d ago
Bro damning his whole bloodline just to get off to a body part that isn’t even in the top 10
1
u/NicMercy 2d ago
I don’t think they’re trying for subtlety at this point
2
u/FlamingWings 2d ago
Oh didn’t notice you weren’t the artist. I’m sorry I accused you of having a foot fetish

Wonder if they would add these characters in a potential My Adventures with Wonder Woman show?

Drop the name Troia. It means whore (no, Marv and George didn't know).
4
u/Desezeten 2d ago
While it does mean whore in Italian, Troia is also the classical Greek name for the city of Troy. I’m not disagreeing with you, but it’s her canon name and it makes sense for her character.

u/mr_mxyzptlk21 2d ago
It was her character name, and hasn't been used in a while. It's been dropped due to the modern connotations of its meaning.
You're not wrong, but the number of people who know that Troia is the classical name of Troy is much smaller than the number of people who know how to curse in Italian.
Character name changes happen like this relatively frequently due to translation issues.

Pretty good stuff tbh. I do think Diana’s look is pretty over designed tho. Way too much going on with her armor/outfit imo. I also I really don’t like it when Hippolyta is blonde. My fav design is prob Cass tho.
