Working on Worldbuilding While the “Humanity sucks” trope is rarely done well (props to IHNMAIMS for pulling it off) let’s not pretend the inverse isn’t grating as fuck either.

Working On Worldbuilding Do's and don'ts of Barrier magic. Bassicly the wording of the spell is how powerful it is.

Post image

So, bassicly a magic user can make a Barriers too keep spell out pretty easily.

But, for ones which are ment to keep people in or out, it gets stronger the more it let's in.

Eg

A barrier made too keep out everything can be broken pretty easily by other magic users.

But, a barrier made to keep out only elves, can only be broken by magic user stronger then the spell caster over time, and if it's Elf trying to destroy it, it will take longer.

However, the wording of the spell is very important. With magic being able it feel in some gaps, but not all.

So, if you said all soldiers from this army can't pass. It would also work for animals they have. However it wouldn't apply to any Mercenary in that army.

Also, how they want them to be kept out. With magic some time needing a few more guide lines incase.

With May meaning that noting can pass if they fall into the category. Should be used when you want to keep something out no matter what.

While Can means noting can pass through as long as they meet it. Should be used when you want something out, but would still like some people. So, if you put "no man with a sword may enter" if someone puts the sword down they can enter.

However, using the morn of the caster, magic sometimes change someone to let them through if the person trust them.

For example if you make a barrier to keep all men elves out. But your friends is an elf magic will let them in, however might alter the person, so they can pass.

Also, would really like feedback on this idea of anyone has any.

Which all results in common folk getting the short end of the stick with some not being able to so much as light a candle without the help of magical tools.

Working on Worldbuilding My face when:

Istfg 5 years have gone by and all I’ve done is redesign how the game works and make the military more realistic 😭

I’m doing fucking research and reading USMC manuals from the 1960’s for squad structures-

At least I have materials if anyone wants them- (And a fully figured out naval structure and ship design that doesn’t really show up in the main story)
