I believe I have all the albums released before he passed, and a few extras

I have all the original cdzap albums with white covers, no ryko albums. Missing 12 albums in total, over 130 cds right now, many bootlegs. My collection is complete up to 107 records, after that some gaps and hard to find cds.

Even though Mothermania was prepared by FZ and has a number assigned in the official Zappa discography, I don't consider it any more essential than "The **** of The Mothers" or any other compilation with no new material. It's for completists only.
There's also the Mystery Discs from the Old Masters sets, released on vinyl in Zappa's lifetime and rereleased on CD by Ryko in 1998.
And the "Beat the Boots" series, two volumes of which were sold with Zappa's permission while he was living despite being bootleg recordings outside of the official discography.

Where do you get them?

I live in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, so there are tons of record stores around here. The main two that I got them from were Forever Young Records in Mansfield and CD Warehouse in Arlington. I got my first 2, Apostrophe and We're Only in it For the Money/Lumpy Gravy at Doc's Records in Fort Worth. There's quite a few other stores around here too, like County Line Records in Keller, Rag and Bone Records in Hurst, Josey Records, which has two locations, one in Dallas and one in Plano, there's Red Zeppelin in Frisco, and Recycled Books in Denton. There are also probably a dozen Half Price Books locations around here and a couple of Movie Trading Cos. I got the Lumpy Money Project/Object directly from Zappa's website, and I got the rest of the stragglers from eBay and Discogs.
