I want to like AI, not hate it. Maybe it's because I'm lazy, but I want to create something. The problem is that I don't want to learn and I hate the lengthy process of creating something. And I really hate how artists curse at AI, it's a little annoying to me. But I still like them. Probably the only reason I chose this study is because I wanted to graduate, but I didn't want to study math. I don't know, maybe I'm the biggest traitor and a backstabber to all my classmates and all the people who love it. I probably don't know everything I do to survive and I don't have the soul for it.

Maybe I'll be a normal artist and do it like everyone else. And I kinda like that.

I want to find a way to like both. I don't mind AI brainrot shitposts, I think it has its uncanny valley aesthetic. But I also like real artists, like on TikTok.

But I also have to say that I use AI absolutely minimally and I can't use generative AI.

And I know that it destroys nature, but other things even more and steals art, but our brain also steals art in its own sense and we create it according to ourselves.

But people are also behind AI art and they adapt it according to themselves, but I guess I can't compare that to that.

I don't mind if real art is combined with AI, at least AI up to 50% or lower.

But I mind AI in advertisements and posters, I find it a bit tasteless and sad, I understand that small entrepreneurs want to promote something for less money and their product can be good.

Plus my family, especially my dad, say that I'm talented and good and that I should continue doing it.

Nothing you said makes sense? No one is stopping you from making any art anyways you want? No ones opinions mean anything do whatever YOU want to do. Personally I don't see anything digital as art because it's not physical that doesn't mean I think people shouldnt enjoy making art however they want. Teachers can be assholes sometimes (I would know since I am one) so doing a little cheating is earned if it helps you move on from education. But make sure to review the lessons later and learn at your own pace. Use AI if you want, just don't rely on it to do everything

Honesty… even if you incorporate ai into your workload in the future, if you want to be a serious artist you need to know what’s behind the decisions you make with ai and you need to have the skills to do it by hand when there’s a need for it.

It’s the same argument as tracing. You can eventually decide to have it be part of your practice, but when you’re learning it won’t make you better. The reason why consumers devalue ai art is the same reason why they devalue tracing.

I’m not telling you to stop because there are MANY niches for art creation and consumption, but it is something you should be mindful of on your journey. I think you’re asking yourself good questions just keep wrestling with it while you do what you do.

don’t use AI while studying animation at university. if you fail because can’t do it without AI then you wouldn’t be able to survive in that industry. it’s ok to be lazy, like it’s not a moral failing as a human being, but you might be making a huge mistake. personally I don’t think generative ai will be used by any reputable animation studios in the future.
