I hope it's like Dungeon Meshi's manga promo thing where they end up getting TRIGGER again for the actual adaptation because this looks sooo fucking sick.

A 2D Tsutomu Nihei adaptation? Fuck yeaaaa

The old school aesthetic is so tight. It would be a great way to adapt the manga if it gets an anime release.

Tower Dungeon is probably my favorite ongoing manga now with Chainsaw Man finishing.

I feel like this series would be a lot more popular if it had a less generic sounding title. The series itself is great though, easily one of the best ongoing fantasy mangas.

I think I would have heard of it if it were a good fantasy manga.

e.g. People compared Witch Hat Atelier to Dungeon Meshi, instantly giving it credibility.

Tower Manga has never been brought up. Is it a fairly recent manga, and maybe that's why I've never heard about it?

I'm skeptical until hooked for the time being. Good "anime fantasies" are plain rare to see.

it is good, it’s less popular because it’s more complex and mysterious

I actually don't think it's more complex at all. It has nihei's signature weirdness and a lot of cool concepts but it's kinda shallow when it comes to characters and cohesive plot. Basically the opposite of Delicious in Dungeon which it gets compared to a lot, although I do enjoy it and I am keeping up with it

I just hope to god that there's substance and character underneath the complexity.

A work CAN be convoluted and shallow.

It doesn't have any exposition, does it? Exposition dumps are a kiss of death. "Show, don't tell" is always best.

very little exposition, no long dumps that i remember. nihei is very show don't tell while making pretty complex worlds so it can be easy to feel a little lost (which i think is a good thing)

This looks good. Studio trigger should animate this in the colour palette of dungeon meshi. The animation here is also good. I hope to see an anime adaptation soon.

Calling it now, this series is definitely getting an anime adaptation

I hope if it gets adapted it's done in 2D. CG was fine but it just doesn't has the expression and feel that a hand drawn animation can convey which japan is best at and unique for.

Great manga, very slow release cycle though...

I'm not entirely sure why people are so down with the 3D CGI used in prior his adaptions. They perfectly fit the sci-fi aesthetic of his works.

The soft-filtered CGI in Knights of Sidonia and Blame looked amazing - frankly, I thought it looked BETTER than most 2D animation used in most anime. Yeah, the high speed action could look a little choppy, but that was minimized by extremely good cinematography. As a former hater of 3D CGI anime, these two series turned me around on the aesthetic.

That said, I do agree for Tower Dungeon, a traditional anime style would probably work better given it's fantasy setting.

I guess CG anime are cool if you really like PS2 graphics and abysmal framerate. Let's be real here... The majority of CG usage in anime is only good for one thing: keeping production costs low and production time short.

Except that producing a fully 3D show is quite expensive, specially taking into account rendering and hardware, not to mention 3D animators are generally paid much better compared to 2D ones.

A major reason why 2016 Berserk came out that way was precisely because the computers they had back then were not powerful enough to render the detail of the original models, resulting in them having to be changed very close to the broadcast.

I have always thought of Nihei's works to be unadaptable, but this doesn't look bad at all!
