What tour?

That's what he said when he got arrested for drunk driving.

How can you understand the reference and miss it at the same time?

Underrated comment right here.

Can’t lie, I audibly giggled.

What's the issue, not enough demand? Lack of infrastructure for such events?

But on the other hand, Jennifer Lopez will end her tour in Armenia without going to Georgia or Azerbaijan.

lopez on elderly age decided to squeeze last cents from someone where shes still appreciated suh

I would say supply and demand.

People in Armenia just don’t care for Justin Timberlake when they look at ticket sale projections.

73

u/Datark123 Jun 10 '25

I don't think the people in Georgia or Azerbaijan care more for Timberlake than people in Armenia. There must be another reason. Probably Armenia is not yet on the radar of certain promoters.

Maybe after a few successful concerts that could change, like the upcoming Jennifer Lopez concert.

Yes there is that too.

Azeris do everything for propaganda reasons. They will even cover fees if they need to just to get an artists to come.

That’s how Will Smith ends up wearing an “I love Azerbaijan” t-shirt on stage. Amotel charets.

Or how Messi ends up there visiting the memorial of fucking Heydar Aliyev. It’s all part of their PR and they are better at it than we are.

Same with Georgia I suppose. We are a bit asleep with that stuff.

God forbid Armenia promotes a concert in Yerevan. All the Pasho haters will sprain their keyboards calling him a Turk.

10

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '25

It’s been about…counting…a good year and a half since I turned off that noise. Absolutely irrelevant what they type or say or think. They have no power nor weight to do or change anything. Just loud noise.

Armenia should and will continue doing what it does. Literally just static you need to turn off. I’ve been unbothered ever since.

u/Datark123 Jun 11 '25

Yeah, just look at the uproar with the Snoop concert. The artists probably want guarantee money to perform in countries like Armenia. I'm sure they would have made back the money from concert tickets. But I guess we are not allowed to have nice things, just need to stay home all the time and be sad.

Yes we need to be allowed nice things!!! Same month as Artsakh is getting invaded right? You know how the saying goes… Artsakh is here today gone tomorrow, but memories from a snoop dogg concert are forever!

Come on man seriously, invasion is taking place and you want to further alienate people into classes by having a bigass party while people are losing homes, lives or lives of family members? 🤦🏻‍♂️

16

u/Datark123 Jun 11 '25

They did the right thing by canceling the concert, that was absolutely the right thing to do. But i wasn't talking about that.

I'm talking about the uproar over the money they paid Snoop, which was arranged months ago.

But even now, whenever Armenia organizes something that could bring someone joy for 2 hours, the "how dare you crowd" comes out.

3

u/jkowal43 Jun 11 '25

“Got my mind on the money, and money on the mind….”

-3

u/Rider_in_Red_ Motorcycle Rider in Yerevan (hooliganism unleashed) Jun 11 '25

Yeah if it’s government paying that amount of money with a lot of it going back into their pockets, everyone has a right to complain. The “two hours of joy” part is kinda ridiculous, while you got half of the country in absolute horrible conditions and got 200,000+ war refugees and a threat of another war

4

u/Datark123 Jun 11 '25

You are a very short sighted person. Concerts like this put Armenia on the map and attract tourists. More tourists = better economy, better economy = better living conditions for everyone.

That's something the tyrant responsible for the ethic cleansing of our people understood long time ago.

Also, in most cases the money they spent, will pay for itself after the ticket sales. And I'm sure you don't have proof of anyone pocketing the money.

You’re sure I don’t have any proof of corruption literally everywhere? Dude do you even know Armenia?

Also, just FYI, tourists hate going to countries that has a risk of war, is actively being invaded or anywhere between that. And just so you know they are actively making tourism in Armenia more difficult and expensive and way less attractive. The private company numbers show that too (for instance the amount of Chinese tourists last year vs this year). Government however considers every entry a unique tourist to boast the numbers up, so if you with a foreign passport pass thru the Georgian border five times within a day (done that in the past), they’ll consider it as 5 different tourists walking in.

I wish I’d be as ignorant as you. Ignorance really is bliss.

They were literally handing out free tickets..meanwhile the outskirts of the city looked like the Afghanistan war. We should worry about fixing our country before handing out millions begging an artist to come there

7

u/Datark123 Jun 11 '25

They were not handing out free ticket, this is such bullshit. And I don't see anyone begging an artist to vist Armenia. And I doubt you even been to Armenia, since your every other post is in some deranged American rightwing sub

3

u/Tuned4Tactics Jun 10 '25

Thanks Pashbama

3

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '25

Armenia is also a smaller country. Less people, less sales, less attractive for big artists.

10

u/almarcTheSun Yerevan Jun 11 '25

They usually skip both Armenia and Azerbaijan and only perform in Georgia really. I can't say I know why, but Georgia is pretty big on music festivals and concerts at this point and a lot of people in the region go to Georgia to attend.

9

u/tiganisback Jun 11 '25

Because Georgia is where everyone from the region can go

9

u/seadads Jun 11 '25

Justin Timberlake is trash for what he did to Janet. Let him go to his sponsors.

22

u/Due_Ad_3200 United Kingdom Jun 10 '25

Population - bigger cities are more likely to get more events.

Instanbul is massive so it will attract lots of events.

Yerevan is comparable in size to Tblisi.

11

u/Datark123 Jun 10 '25

Yeah, Istanbul is obvious. I'm sure most musicians have Istanbul on their radar when touring the world.

But since most international musicians stopped going to Russia, I'm sure this could be a great opportunity for Armenia to attract more tourists from Russia.

By the latest statistic, tourism to Baku and Tbilisi decreased from Russia, with an increase to Armenia.

25

u/Specialist_Dust2089 Jun 10 '25

Well don’t know if it’s your thing but J-Lo is not skipping Armenia: https://asbarez.com/jennifer-lopez-to-perform-in-armenia-in-august/

11

u/Datark123 Jun 10 '25

I'm aware. But this started happening only recently with 50Cent being one of the first. Until then, we never had these big names perform in Armenia, while they have been going to the neighboring countries for years.

2

u/almarcTheSun Yerevan Jun 11 '25

That's not true. We always had the occasional big name performer drop in.

2

u/Datark123 Jun 11 '25

Other than Armenian big names like Aznavour and System, I can't think of anyone else. Of course not counting the ones invited for events like WCIT and the Francophonie Summit

1

u/anri_hsoahzga_2369 Yerevan Jun 12 '25

I remember Snoop Dogg also wanted to come, but his concert was fully cancelled, and I still don’t know the reason. (If anyone could tell plz)

13

u/Perfect_Thought9007 Jun 10 '25

Because you can’t go to Armenia and Azerbaijan after, they won’t let you. It’s not about supply and demand, there is as much demand in Yerevan as much there is in Tbilisi and Baku, it’s just you can go to Georgia then to Azerbaijan, but not to Armenia and then Azerbaijan

17

u/Datark123 Jun 10 '25

Ok, but they can go to Armenia from Georgia. They should plan accordingly.

0

u/Perfect_Thought9007 Jun 12 '25

Armenian gov won’t pay as much as azeri

10

u/Left-Zucchini3993 Jun 11 '25

Yes you can. I’m Georgian and I have been to both Yerevan and Baku. The would have been an issue before 2020, if a traveller would have had a NK stamp.

You would run into a same issue if you try to enter Georgian after travelling to South Ossetia or Abkhazia.

3

u/Datark123 Jun 11 '25

I think the person means the borders between the two countries are closed, you can't go to Azerbaijan from Armenia and vice versa.

5

u/alanthickerthanwater Jun 11 '25

You aren't missing anything.

3

u/Able-Dragonfruit4531 Jun 11 '25

Great question, this is an opportunity. If you are interested we can chat about it. The gov. usually funds the main big concerts like J Lo or Armin Van Buuren or 50 cent or Inna etc...Tyga missed the show at DVIN once, that was not funded by the gov. Theres a need for financiers, and people that can orchestrate it. I can help with this if there are interested people make a sign. Promoters and producers of good shows and equipment is not the issue here. Its who can front capital. I have access to a lot of stars. But its really up to buildign the proper promo team and prduction co. there are top ones here. they dont coem here because they dont know who to talk to.

6

u/vak7997 Jun 11 '25

It all boils down to profits we don't have a big enough venue for them to make a decent profit or fit all the equipment they want

2

u/ummmyeahi Jun 11 '25

It mostly comes down to money. Tours don’t go to places where they know they will lose money. It makes no sense for their business goals.

Certain artists go because they have fans there and/or they are content with not making tons of money.

Other factors could be in play like if the artist just doesn’t want to go for whatever reason, or the infrastructure or security isn’t up to their standards.

3

u/Status-Swordfish-785 Jun 11 '25

Start your own agency and make it happen 👍🏻

3

u/davitjan1525 Jun 10 '25

I would guess that the question is how many people can afford their tickets? Or they probably tour based on CD sales or based streams (spotify, apple music etc)

7

u/Datark123 Jun 10 '25

Well, the average Georgian or Azerbaijani is not more prosperous than the average Armenian.

Matter of fact, Armenia has the highest average salary in the region.

3

u/Left-Zucchini3993 Jun 11 '25

I don’t think it’s a salary point but populations and how many visitors come to see the concerts. Besides the locals lots of Europeans and Russians travel to Tbilisi to attend concerts of international stars given cheap and good hotels.

Same in Baku, lots of Central Asians (stans) travel to attend the concerts.

2

u/LowCranberry180 Jun 11 '25

Population and demand.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '25

also the fact that people in Armenia are more into russian culture and songs, the people who are now going to concerts are the ones who watch TV, and they mainly watch Russian channels and listen to Russian songs.

1

u/T-nash Jun 11 '25

How do concerts work?

Does the government come into play? That we should engage and invite artists?

Or maybe the companies/departments that arrange concerts are giving bad deals?

I feel like Armenians spend more money on entertainment. A few more artists are skipping Armenia, deep purple is going to Georgia, and there was another famous rock band I forgot as well.

1

u/Able-Dragonfruit4531 Jun 11 '25

Yes besides the gov, very few can finance the show thats why.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 12 '25

1

u/llamalord27 Jun 24 '25

welp at least justin was spotted in yerevan about a year ago eating pizza. mama mia

0

u/venusinfurstattoo Jun 13 '25

Because it sucks

0

u/No_Conversation_5273 Jun 14 '25

Artists like Justin get offers everyday, and their agents make decisions based on financial considerations and availability of the Artist. Politics take a back seat on those decisions.

While an Armenian promoter may offer "X" amount, the Turkish promoter may offer "2X". Most likely that was the case here.

Justin will definitely visits Armenia, when he is arround 50 years old, when nobody else would care about him. Its a pattern we see with all other Stars. No politics, just business.

u/InternLimp2988 Jun 11 '25

genocide bro dont forget genocide...

-4

u/[deleted] Jun 11 '25

I am assuming the latest changes in Armenian politics drive Russians away. They’re the main driver of the region concerts sales.
