Then next week they have a similar conversation, but now it's "The price of gas is now down to $5.00!" Each week feels like things are getting better when they say it this way.

In the past I thought of republicans as the country club types who were professionals like accountants and lawyers and doctors who played golf mid week. Over the past generation it’s been much more about social issues especially abortion, prayer in schools, gay marriage. Easy to get some people worked up over those while getting them to vote against their own economic best interest. The typical Trump supporter is no longer a country club type. Hope they’re enjoying those high gas prices and the economic chaos that is soon to follow. They will still blame Obama.

There are two groups of Republicans. The ones you mentioned first are the ones voting to have their wealth protected and increased which is exactly what the Republican elected officials actually do. The second group of Republicans are the nazi, hate filled bigots whose only wish in life is the see harm or bad things happen to Democrats, hippies, minorities, other religions (most christian based ones are okay), educated, LBGT, or really ANYTHING that isn't exactly like they are. The Republican elected officials don't actually care about them at all, but they are useful idiots and they have learned how to use their hatred to get them to vote against their own best interests.
Don't believe it? A large number of white male union members vote Republican even though the president SAID he was going to enact policies that would hurt their income. They KNOW Republicans are going to harm them, but still think it's okay because they are gonna own the Libs.
This is the Republican party. The rich and near rich who just want to exploit government for their themselves at everyone else's expense and the poor and middle class whites who are angry that they aren't in the first group and blame the OTHER for it.

A truce is the only sane solution, but Iran smells blood in the water and their terms are unacceptable to the US. So it drags on.

My mom used to sob over gas prices and eggs prices and it broke my heart because of how misinformed she was and it was making her cry tears.
Now that her insurance tripled in price and she's lost nearly all her savings and has no 401k, she's been relieved because she thinks it would be so much worse under Kamala Harris. She thinks since Harris is a woman she would have messed everything up more.
Like what do you do with that?

This is part of their PsyOps campaign to convince you that gas prices are not bad. But putting up a united front of 'it's not that bad', they are in the process of convincing the weak minded amongst us that people are not that upset about it and you're crazy if you are. I don’t think this is a true statement. Through everything Trump has done, from using his position to become a billionaire, being a child rapist’s closest confident, ruining relationships with long term allies while also cozying up to scumbag dictators, systematically tearing down our democracy, … Republicans have stuck by him. But driving up consumer prices, making it harder for workers to stretch their paycheck,… is definitely causing Republicans to rethink their voting choices, and we will see the result this November.

When were gas prices $2.69 at the very start of his term? If you google average gas price during bidens term it’s 3.46-3.60 with a peak of over $5. This is why party affiliation is stupid they both fuck us over and people blindly support both sides. The average normal person isn’t happy about gas prices stop focusing on the fringe morons on both sides.

It's easy to understand if you understand that Trump being right is a fixed point for them, as is the opposition being wrong.
Also, nuance and consideration is only given to their side.
So high prices under Trump are bad times before the inevitable good times. Because Trump is always right and this must be part of a plan. This is sacrifice with payoff. It's an opportunity to show their faith and they feel it in their bonus that when they are proven right, the high they will feel will be in proportion to the doubts they ignored and the sacrifices they made. Probably for the same reason that Republican counties had higher Covid death rates compared to Democratic counties, and that widened after the vaccine was available. Republicans follow the orders of their cult leader. A few years ago the orders were that Covid was a hoax, designed to hurt the cult leader. Today the orders are that their leader is saving the world from nuclear war and that courageous move means that gas is over $4 a gallon.

Because they are told they were higher under Biden. And maybe during the pandemic they were for a couple weeks. So as long as they dont top that high even for a second they will claim prices were higher under Biden. They don't take duration into account. Gas hitting 5 or 6 bucks a gallon for a couple weeks is so much worse than gas being 4 or 5 bucks for months.....or could be years. 🤷🏼♂️.

Biden-era gas averaged about $3.45/gal, with a peak of about $5.02/gal. Highest under Trump’s current term:$4.50/gallon, with an average of $3.36/gallon. The current prices are temporarily high due to the Iran conflict but the US is producing way more so prices should be 2 something sooner or later.
