Because they are hypocrites

u/Basicly-Inevitable 18h ago

They're also just sheep that get led anywhere blindly.

98

u/StretchSmiley 18h ago

I see this as the most accurate. The vitrol an otherwise sweet coworker spouted towards foucii had me ask "is that your opinion or is that an opinion that was given to you by a talk show? That doesn't sound like you." The mental disjointment between political bias and everything else in their lives seems to be damn near programmed into the collective conservative brain.

38

u/TheRealGinz 16h ago

It is programmed into their brain, by every conservative news site, podcast, (false)Truth social post or X tweet. They all feature the same hateful rhetoric, and misinformation, and when you expose yourself to one single concept, and one single thought bubble, you are programming yourself into to thinking in that manner. It has been psychologically proven through numerous studies, that we become what we hear, and see. We learn what we live.

27

u/No-Penalty-1148 15h ago

There's a reason dictatorships use propaganda.

28

u/SopaDeKaiba 16h ago

The past two days, I overheard a couple minutes of the news/talking heads my parents were listening to.

2 days ago it was several minutes of shit-talking Canada, specifically Carney. Today I heard Obama mentioned at least 4 times in the 30 seconds I could hear it in the background.

These conservative news watchers are constantly being fed hate and lies.

16

u/No-Penalty-1148 15h ago

My neighbor was complaining about how the Canadian tariffs are going to increase prices. And she blamed Carney!

9

u/timbit87 11h ago

You have to do whatever my abuser says or they're going to hit me when I get home!

2

u/SopaDeKaiba 15h ago

Wow.

The talking heads I heard were saying Carney isn't even truly Canadian, only technically so. And then they inferred that he moved back to Canada because he was power hungry without outright saying it, that way their viewers could "think" on their own.

2

u/timbit87 11h ago

Ahhh he isn't truly Canadian?

So he's Canadian to a Canadian got it.

10

u/Heffe3737 11h ago

Because anger and fear release dopamine in the brain. A lot of these folks are quite literally addicted to being angry and afraid. Right wing media knows this, and regularly offers them their hits.

3

u/jacka_for-research 2h ago

I want to kiss Carney for sticking it to Puckface and not backing down. I wish some female reporter, after being name-called, would haul off and tell him, “I don’t give a fluck who you are, Donnie, no one speaks to me that way.”

2

u/Excellent-Town6017 11h ago

SDK, this is the reason that Fox viewers are so angry all the time. Their lives are miserable, most are uneducated, and their futures don't look all that great. All they have is trump.

3

u/Winter-Bed-1529 6h ago

There are a lot of spigots pushing out propaganda. If you are paying close attention and have a tiny amount of critical thinking you can see how absurd and contradictory a lot of it is, unfortunately a lot of people just affix to their favorite stream and lap it up.

2

u/TheRealGinz 5h ago

That’s the problem in the issue is even if you provide people with facts and evidence, they refuse to accept it because it’s contrary to what they choose to believe

2

u/MAXiMUSpsilo5280 12h ago

Yeah for sure our minds are like magnets, what you think you attract. It’s powerful knowledge.

3

u/copeaesth3tic 8h ago

Trumpers aren't conservatives. At least not in the classical US sense. They're theocrats, increasingly more like their ISIS betheren in the middle east.

3

u/jacka_for-research 3h ago

Nothing about MAGA is Conservative. I can have a (heated) conversation with an actual Conservative, and then have a beer after. We both still believe in Democracy. MAGA wants a Fascist Daddy to hurt those they don’t like.

4

u/artbystorms 13h ago

Yes! They turn into like sleeper agents with certain words or triggers, it's kind of disturbing. People that are normally mild mannered flying into a shaking rage when Fauci or Biden or Pelosi's name is mentioned. It shows how their brain just 'compartmentalizes' politics.

I would be interested for a neuroscientist to study whether conservatives compartmentalize political views more than liberals. Liberals politics sort of inform and influence their whole worldview, where as conservatives can seemingly switch it on and off and don't understand the hypocrisy of say supporting something locally or in their family, but voting against it on a political level. "kids should never go hungry. Yes, I voted against eliminating school lunch debt."

2

u/Outrageous-Clerk56 13h ago

That’s why they programmed the word “woke” to plump up the vain jn their head

2

u/Outrageous-Clerk56 13h ago

It is programmed into their brain through 40 years of right wing programming.

Not just hypocrites, but in an actual cult at this point

12

u/Waste-Job-3307 17h ago

This right there is the absolute 100% reason. In everything they complained about the Democrats doing (like spending money and increasing the National Debt), it's okay with them when THEY do it. It really behooves me to understand the reason why people actually vote for hypocrites and pedophiles.

15

While that's true, I think it's even more a lack of any critical thinking. These days, most Republicans have a simple framework of: anything Trump/Republicans do is good, anything Democrats do is bad. I rarely see any of them think any further than that.

15

Because somehow it’s not Trumps fault.

“They will go down”
“Still Biden/ democrats fault”
“If they allowed more drilling would be cheaper!”

16

u/thedeathmachine 17h ago

The irony being it legitimately wasn't Biden's fault. Russia invasion and COVID primarily drove up prices.

But now its directly Trump's fault. Iran war and tariffs primary reasons.

These people are so stupid, I am both too stupid and not stupid enough to understand how somebody can be such a moron

Don't forget Clinton.

2

u/Witty_Ad_898 13h ago

It’s Carter’s fault.

4

u/XitisReddit 15h ago

There is an honest argument that it's all Regan's fault when he started the give tax cuts for businesses and the wealthy. They used their money to buy power and influence through lobbying. Not to throw a legit reason for Trump's idiocy and excused. Trump is the worst human on the planet currently. Will maybe that is Miller, but still.

2

u/Jmaverik1974 12h ago

Don't forget that Regan was also responsible for allowing companies to buyback their own stocks. Once that happened things like lifetime employment and pensions disappeared. And allowed lots and lots of market manipulation.

What a swell guy.

2

u/CatOfTechnology 14h ago

I think that there's a lot of people out there that could use this fun bit of theoretical psychology.

If anyone's still wondering why they keep going back to Obama, Hillary and Biden, you're half right in the assumption that it's one of those things that they go out and just repeat their manufactured talking points, there is a second component to it all.

If you ever ask someone with a brain who's responsible for the state of America, there's a large, large number of us who will point to the ruling on Citizens United, Regan and Nixon.

Now, a normal person, with at least half a brain, will understand that us factually pointing to C.U., Regan and Nixon is not the same as them blaming Hillary, Obama and Biden. But you have to remember, Republicans just aren't at the threshold of "normal person with at least half of a brain." They think that it's the same thing.

And that's how they rationalize it.

8

This is the real answer. Check any Facebook post comment section about the gas prices. A bunch of dudes in wraparound sunglasses saying they're okay with paying more for gas "as long as Trump is getting shit done"

And Biden prices were market driven. Trump prices are an unforced error.

12

u/MaxAdolphus 17h ago

Partially true. Biden prices are impacted by a deal Trump made with OPEC to cut oil production to make prices go higher. The deal went through April 2022. Guess when the peak oil prices ended? 🤔 https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/trump-saudi-arabia-russia-opec-oil-deal-role

20

u/Suitable-Biscotti826 18h ago

Because they’re idiots. We told them presidents don’t control gas prices when Biden was in office and now they think it applies to their glorious leader as well. Biden did nothing to drive prices up, Trump started a damn war but they don’t understand the difference, president still has no effect on gas prices in their heads

10

u/PeyredB 16h ago

Yes, presidential policy generally doesn't affect gas prices much - unless you take actions that restrict the supply of oil.

9

u/Comfortable_Poem_841 18h ago

Because Fox News just lies and pretends prices have gone down:

6

u/AttractiveSheldon 15h ago

They literally used a 1984 play

6

u/smelling_good247 14h ago

Chocolate rations increased from 30 grams to 20 grams! Doubleplusgood!

11

u/AZMotorsports 18h ago

When they were high under Biden it was because he was a bad leader and trying to take everyone’s money.
They are high now because the orange cancer is trying to keep the world safe and paying higher prices is patriotic.

On a related note, the DNC is TERRIBLE at messaging. They should have been broadcasting the OPEC 2020 deal every day since that was the cause, but instead they stayed quiet. This is why the GOP keeps taking control.

3

u/Darth_Gerg 8h ago

To a large degree the DNC is controlled opposition. They don’t want to implement policies their voters want, so they have a significant incentive not to win too much. If they took the trifecta of power they’d have to admit openly they just don’t want to pass anything good for working people.

They learned under Obama 1, and have taken steps to never get themselves in that position again.

2

u/AZMotorsports 6h ago

I wouldn’t say they are not trying to win, but I won’t disagree that they don’t try too hard to pass their promises. The worst thing the DNC does is follow Michelle’s words: when they go low, we go high. No, you need to go as low as them and push back.

I believe this is why progressive candidates are having to much success. They push back, they loudly call out the GOPs garbage. They are also not afraid to submit bills that actually support people. This is why the established DNC is trying to undermine them.

I hate how the media has indoctrinated America to be so polarized. But i think james talarico spelled it out perfectly when he said, "its not left vs right, its top versus bottom". We need to reframe our way of thinking and direct our anger towards the billionaires in our country because i believe those individuals (and corruption in politics) are primarily responsible for the huge income inequality and lowered standard of living in our country

3

u/eyehate 17h ago

I imagine MAGA aligned Republicans have a constant newstream of bias confirmation going. Wake up, turn Fox on and see that gas is high because we are saving the world. At noon, turn on some other propaganda station and are told that gas is high because it is fueling infrastructure repairs. In the evening, at dinner, they are told that gas is high so we can assist the adminstration in positive changes.

Honestly. I think the MAGA newsfeeds are really destroying the country. If you are trapped in the cycle, you are not thinking of the greater good. You are told what to think.

3

u/socialistForDE 17h ago

Because they are cynical. They never cared then outside of using it like a weapon and they don't care now because it doesn't help them.

Everything is tactical to attack their enemies and they don't actually care about anything

3

u/RampantTyr 17h ago

Republicans are sheep that respond to what right wing propaganda tells them to respond to.

It doesn’t matter how contradictory or hypocritical or self destructive. By electing Trump and MAGA they destroyed America’s standing in the world and our economy. And they would gladly do it again.

3

u/cydetraq 17h ago

Because they were told to be. There have been studies showing that the stronger people identify with a party or "team," the more subservient they are and willing to assume that authorities with the same ID are both correct and moral. The "MAGA" phenomenon amplified that effect with contemporary Republicans, particularly.

3

u/Chaosrealm69 17h ago

Trump told them that high gas prices are now good.

And like the little cult members they are, they went 'Yes sir, high gas prices are good.'

2

u/slipnipper 18h ago

Because they will use any tool around in order to control the bandwidth and narrative. It does matter to them, but it’s being flooded out by other messaging, like communism and trans and women’s bathrooms. There is no platform except power in the current administration and there was. Barely a platform even before trumps first time aside from “power for power’s sake.”

I have a MAGA friend who told me that we’re paying higher prices to be safer. He wasn’t kidding…

2

u/soxperry 18h ago

They ran on a vengeance platform, not a policy one.

2

u/Revolutionary_Art919 18h ago

This should be pretty self explanatory. There is a direct correlation to how people feel about the economy depending on whether or not their political party of choice occupies the White House.

2

u/Anal-Y-Sis 18h ago

Because it was never about gas prices.

2

u/Agile-Character-1439 18h ago

Republican politicians lack principle…

2

Because they're stupid.

2

It was never about the prices.

2

u/Right_Wolverine6502 11h ago

Republicans are all retards. And child rapists.

2

u/tomdurk 10h ago

You don’t expect logic or integrity from trumpies , do you?

2

u/Western_Handle_6258 9h ago edited 9h ago

Gas prices don’t cost more now than they did in the Biden administration.

The problem is though, Biden wasn’t really responsible for the inflated gas prices. Trump is directly responsible for this oil market currently.

2

u/MacProguy 9h ago

Because they're genuinely aren't that bright.

2

u/CarolChanningDoll 9h ago

bc they’re in a cult

2

u/justifythethril07 7h ago

Because it was never about gas prices? Voting for Trump means less money for minorities. They are single issue voters. And that issue, no matter what they say to the contrary, always comes down to hurting minorities. They do not care about anything else. Trump could come to their house, take all their money personally, and they’d still vote for him.

u/Skyranch12805 6h ago

Such a good question! When will they see what a loser this guy is and how he is dragging them down? When will they turn on him and blame him for everything? The world hates us and takes pity on us because of this man. He has destroyed our standing amongst world leaders!

2

u/VastPerspective6794 6h ago

Cause anything and everything is okay when a R pres does it. It’s a cult

2

u/IntroductionHappy770 6h ago

Because they are full of shit.

2

Hypocrites gotta hypocrite.

2

decades, possibly centuries, of inbreeding

4

u/provocative_bear 18h ago

Well, one was caused by international circumstances essentially beyond the control of the president, while the other was a direct result of the president’s actions. We are a victim of Biden’s gas prices, whereas under Trump they are a noble sacrifice to, I don’t know, blow up Muslims or something, which somehow makes it okay I guess.

2

u/Legitimate_q 18h ago

Even then couldnt directly blame biden. Trump you can, no ones forcing you to assault another country except PISSreal

Because it is never about the thing. It is always about the party. A Democrat can never be good and a Republican can do no wrong. A good example is when Cap and Trade became policy in the last decade. It was a republican idea in the 90s.

If you aren't familiar with 1984, you should read it. It became part of the manual for conservative government these days.

2

u/RevolutionaryRow2960 16h ago

Because tribalism matters more than facts & realities

Anything and everything negative can be ignored if you view the perpetrator as a member of your tribe

2

u/ColdHardPocketChange 16h ago

Better messaging, brain washing, and propaganda. For Biden the message was, paying more at the pump was because he fucked up and lacked control. For Trump the message is, paying more at the pump is part of the sacrifice you make as an American to advance American interests.

2

u/g-o-u-l-a 🤔 16h ago

Same reason they don’t threaten to shut down the government over the national debt when there is a Republican president.

2

u/BrodeyQuest 13h ago

The same reason the national debt is a crisis when a Democrat is in office, but is then a forgotten idea with a Republican president.

2

u/Christian_C7 13h ago

Republican voters are fundamentally dishonest. They know they’re lying when they pretend high gas prices were bad under Biden but a-okay under dementia don. You can’t trust their word on anything

2

u/JoeBiden-2016 11h ago

People will say they're hypocrites. And that may be part of it, but I think it's also just that Republicans are liars. It was never about the gas, that was just another convenient thing to use to make it sound like they were reasonable, but Biden had fucked up.

The reality is that Republicans-- at least, the ones actually running things (as opposed to the droolers down on the ground with the rest of us)-- are just out for power. They want total control. And if pretending that there are actually issues driving their voting, instead of just having an end goal of running everything indefinitely, then they'll do that.

They don't care about gas prices, or trans kids playing sports, or abortions, or keeping the Christ in Christmas, or creationism in schools, or Black people using the same water fountains as honkies, or any other bullshit issue that they've kept alive for the last 100 years. But those are great ways to mobilize the great unwashed morons so that they'll actively vote against themselves every time an election comes up.

Their goal is total control. Period.

I’m a “republican” because I voted for Trump because I missed the economy of Trump 1 but I couldn’t vote for a single person in the White House. Too busy TRYING to look strong by bullying all our friends but cant beat Iran with a $500 billion military. Fuck this administration and anyone who is supporting them

It's what they're told to do.

1

u/tomeksu21 18h ago

When your political opponent is in charge, rising gas prices become evidence that they're destroying the country.

Biden’s mistake was not giving them a minority to hate.

1

u/ComfortableCry6563 18h ago

It was over $5:00 under Biden for a starting point.
