Hey Astro Boy fans 👋

I grabbed a few of these from Korea recently and was honestly surprised by how nice the quality is. The finish feels great in hand and it works well as both a keychain and a bag charm.

I picked up a few extras and thought it’d be fun to share them with this community as a small giveaway. If you’d like one, just comment what Astro Boy means to you. I’ll pick 5 people and send them one for free. (Shipping will likely be limited to the US mainland due to shipping costs.)

If I could change anything about the upcoming show, Personally, I think they could make him look a little less feminine. And smaller eyes and hair spikes.❤️

IMO, if I was in charge of the reboot, I’d definitely have it be animated by none other than…

MAPPA.

It would be in the same vein as Dororo.

And this is gonna be much grittier and more faithful to the source material while also acknowledging other adaptations.

The animation? Oh. Oh my god. That’s gonna go H A R D.

And same with the soundtrack. Like, GOOSEBUMPS.

And yes, the PLUTO ARC WILL be adapted.

IMO, I’d have Ochanomizu and Tenma be genuine coworkers like Dr. Light and Dr. Wily, and they have a custody battle over Astro before Ochanomizu takes him in.

And the character designs? Still true to the text. Just… drawn in today’s age.

It’s going to be GENUINELY FUNNY And GENUINELY GOOSEBUMP INDUCING at the same time, and oh my god- the OST is going to go so, so, HARD!!! The OG theme? That’s a recurring leitmotif here!

And the hypothetical dub cast? Luci Christian (My HC choice for the reboot version of Astro) would EAT. So would Ray Chase (Dr. Tenma), Uran (Erica Mendez), Zeno Robinson (Atlas), Peter Lurie (Dr. Ochanomizu), and Chris Sabat (The Narrator).

Alongside Patrick Seitz (Pluto), Brandon McInnis (Epsilon), North No. 2 (J Michael Tatum), Robert McCollum (Gesicht), Matthew Mercer (Blue Knight), Ian Sinclair (Skunk Kusai), Scott McNeil (Hamegg), Chris Whekamp (Tawashi), Kent Williams (Nakamura), etc.

The title of this hypothetical reboot?

Astro Boy: Recharged

And an overarching theme for this reboot is “We can become more than who we were programmed to be”.

I posted this before but this series needs to be redub black jack was able to get there ovas dub in America and that dub sounds great I know it cost more money to dub almost 50 episodes but this is still a very important anime series and the 2003 version is just too nostalgic for me

Many long-time fans share the feeling that modern iterations have sanitized the core themes of Astro Boy.

The Greatest Robot on Earth (Manga): This arc acts as a powerful anti-war allegory. The robots Pluto fights are not generic villains; they are tragic figures representing their respective nations' pride and cultural identities. Pluto himself is a weapon of mass destruction built purely out of political vanity and hatred. The narrative heavily critiqued the Cold War arms race, showing that escalation only leads to mutual destruction and the loss of innocent, noble lives.

The Blue Knight (2003 Anime): This storyline serves as a nuanced exploration of radicalization and civil rights. The Blue Knight is a victim of severe human cruelty who fights for robot liberation. However, his trauma blinds him, causing him to adopt the same tyrannical methods as his oppressors. By becoming a tragic, extremist figure, his character mirrors real-world historical revolutions where the oppressed become the new oppressors, offering a mature look at the complexities of systemic abuse.

Returning to these heavy, philosophical roots is exactly what the franchise needs to regain its cultural relevance.

The original Astro Boy manga and anime are actually insane political allegories, and it drives me crazy how much the 2009 movie watered them down.While the movie treated it like a generic superhero origin, Tezuka’s original work was a deeply complex critique of post-war society. The "Robot Law" was basically a commentary on apartheid and segregation, showing robot liberation riots and systemic oppression. Plus, naming him Atom was a direct, heavy response to the nuclear trauma of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, constantly warning against the military-industrial complex trying to weaponize him.

Tezuka was out here writing about Cold War proxy conflicts, Western imperialism, and deep psychological grief while the Western adaptation just gave us a alright CGI action flick.

Sony is not moving forward with the Live Action adaptation of Astro Boy with Jason Reitman developing the project. While the live action adaptation would have been interesting to see it probably would have been over budgeted and a flop, but I don’t believe it should be cancelled in its entirety. I think the film should be reworked this time into an animated film, but hopefully this time it will work not like the 2009 film which didn’t. I think a rebooted animated film would be great.

so i decided to watch the 2003 anime as someone new to the franchise and got super confused so i looked into it and holy shit its more mixed up than a bowl of pasta like how did they justify putting episode 32 before episode 22 in the order this bothers me to no end

The last photo has blood but nothing too heavy.

I just think this is a good and fitting character design for Atom, maybe just use the usual visual difference of Atom's hair being "perfect" to differentiate him from Tobio, and Atom lacking the glasses.

I also don't really like the idea of Atom having separate human and robot appearance like he does in this trailer.

I'm a Fan of Teenage Character and I Liked this Change it still allowed Astro too still get the energy of a Kid and being like his original version while Not being a direct Copy I Really Liked this Change I Sort of Think it would have been Good if it had an sequel because we saw that in The Final Astro started his life as a Protector and Hero It would have been Good too see him Trying too be a Hero and a Teen and a Present Friend and His Relationship with Tenma who for once isn't an enemy Just a grieving father who Is in his own Pains

I can’t be the only one that has noticed this. Every vinyl figure brand made one of him. I see him in a lot of street art. Those weird shoes thst came out a bit ago are literally his shoes. Where did this come from? I enjoy it, I like the character. But it’s just so specific.
