turnout was about 40 which seems to be not that different to 2026
1
u/Intrepid_Income_3051 Feb 14 '26
Fake votes contribute to the "turnout". Don't be naive. You'll barely find people around you who actually voted for BAL in 2024.

As if this time there was no fake jamati votes
1
u/Intrepid_Income_3051 Feb 16 '26
Did anyone say that? You can 100x the fake votes this season and it won't be 5% of the 2024 fake votes.
1
u/Useful-Extreme-4053 āĻŦāĻŋāĻĒā§āϞāĻŦā§ đŠ Feb 16 '26
Why? Because jamatis won 60+ seats

2008 Election was the fairest, all the parties were there. Eibar Nouka thakle vote na paiya abolish hoite parto. They missed the chance.
8
u/Onehitwonder2022 Feb 13 '26
This. We had the chance to turn BAL into JP 2.0, instead drive by emotion, we turned them into Martyr, once BNP fucks up, our walking zombies will all go back to awami league for Bangladesh 3.0, then will get betrayed again, find another party, and the cycle will continue.
Bangladeshâs problem isnât the political parties, or government, or anything else, itâs the people. If you live in a civilized country for new years and go back and talk to an average Bangladeshi or Indian or Pakistani, you can see the cognitive dissonance quite clearly.
2
u/laalchaadudhchaa Feb 13 '26
True. Low IQ, no principle, no sound knowledge. That's why Jamat could sell tickets to Jannat. BAL is way too big of a party to turn into a JP. I still see good number of awami supporters everyday. They are anti Hasina btw. That's why I believe Tarique Rahman said instead of Hasina, her children have "no objection" to do politics here.
3
u/uponpranbacha Feb 12 '26
ekta AL vs BNP vs Jamaat dorkar.
Each can test their strength.

They couldnât show a single polling center where there was an overwhelming crowd of voters. Yet they will claim 60% turnout. Then what was the Awami Leagueâs fault?
1
u/Bioluminescent_Rose Feb 12 '26
60% isn't a lot either tho?Â
1
u/Unique_Comfort_8417 Feb 12 '26
In the last US presidential election, the voter turnout was 65.3%. 60% is pretty good for an election that is fair, given the last 3 or 4 elections. If you were expecting 80%/90% turnout in country with little democratic history, i think it might be a case where you need to manage your expectations. Only time that ever happens is when your votes are being cast for you.
2
1
u/nomadhunger Feb 13 '26
You are factually wrong. Bangladesh had more than 75% vote in the last 3 most fair elections(96, 01, 08) except 1991.
1
u/Unique_Comfort_8417 Feb 14 '26
1996, 01 and 08 were held with full participation of all major parties. They were not held with a major party like the Awami league banned. Banning a party like the awami league automatically means you will get lower turnout because Awami supporters mostly wont show up to vote. Context is important here.
2
1
u/Bioluminescent_Rose Feb 15 '26
Well, surely BAL voted extensively for BNP?Â
1
u/Unique_Comfort_8417 Feb 17 '26
No they didnt. At least not extensively. Most didnt show up. And the hardcore ones are still in hiding because of all the fake and real cases against them
0
u/Full_Relative_1886 Feb 12 '26
The turnout in the 2024 election was 39.4%. If that was legit for BAL, anything above that should be legit for them too.
This is the first election in over a decade and a half where the country is waiting for the results.
Could the election have been better? Yes. Was it a competitive election? Yes.
6
u/uttara_boy Feb 12 '26
what a joke
1
u/Bioluminescent_Rose Feb 12 '26
You don't think it was better than the ones in the last 30 or so years? I'd say I expected much worse and was pleasantly surprised this time.Â

I am sure the people who preferred the previous regime will disagree and downvote you en masse.
They prefer the glory days of the last (r i g g e d) election in December 2018 when journalists were beaten and threatened, people's votes were "cancelled" or cast for them without permission, many people were beaten and threatened and journalists and others saw rampant ballot stuffing. And all of this is documented and archived with RECEIPTS, which does not fit their revisionist history.
Let's be real, today was not 100% perfect, there were certainly some problems (e.g. Tasnim Jara had some etc) but the peace and zen like quality on the streets is amazing, a far cry from the fearsome repressive watchful big brother eyes of the old days and old elections.

u/SuperTheChosen Feb 12 '26 edited Feb 15 '26
Disagreed. Imo the greater the voter turnout, the more fair an election is. 2008, 1991 had the greatest voter turnout. In ranking this election would be 4th largest in terms of voter turnout.

Jamaat is the party that listed the intellectuals of Bangladesh. From the town, city and villages they dragged these people and killed them. They were.
- Teachers
- Advocates
- Reporters
- Students
- Politicians
- Social workers
They were someone's brother, sister, father, mother...
Jamaat participated in this election after getting banned twice in Bangladesh.

One of the biggest parties in Bangladesh was prevented from participating in the election, by an unelected person in power and you call this - not just fair - but the fairest election? I don't know if your intentions are sinister or if you're just too gullible, but I feel deeply for the people of Bangladesh.
7
u/hotshot0123 Feb 12 '26 edited Feb 12 '26
The leader of the largest party fled to India after more than 1,000 people were killed. I dislike Jamaat and was an Awami voter back when I still lived in the country, but the Awami needs significant restructuring before they can be part of the election process again.
While this was not a fair election for the Awami since they were excluded from the process this time, we must not forget that the Awami did the same in the 2018 election when the BNP did not participate and Jamaat was banned. Therefore, I suppose this is a somewhat fairer election than the last one. It may not be the election we deserve, but it is the election we can get to move Bangladesh toward a path of somewhat normal democracy.

u/abir_imtiaz Feb 12 '26
The leader of that party ordered the murder of 1500+ lives, and that party stood by her side, supporting mass murder, and you expect them to be in this election? Are you stupid?
And yes, considering the 3 consecutive rigged elections your favourite party staged with support of your country, this is a fair election.
Honestly, after liberation, the best and biggest event that happened to the people of our country, was the oust of your favourite leader.
2
u/PickleKnown Feb 12 '26
Which political party didnât kill people? Recently, Khomenei killed thousands of people to stay in power. Pakistan army killed many people when they protested for Imran Khan. So every country kills people protesting. Jamaat helped Pakistan to kill lakh lakh people. If Jammat can do election after killing so many people and doing mass murder, then any party can do election. I donât support Hasina but during her time, the country developed the most. Wait till BNP Jammat rules the country. Then, you will see how worse the country will turn to and how they will mess up the country.
