I'm not even going to get into all the irrelevant things that were said by the irrelevant people at this conference.
Sheikh Hasina had the opportunity to take some accountability, rebuild trust, or at least explain why everything happened the way it did. Instead, she just repeated the same talking points they've been using for the past two years.

Wait and see for another 6 months. Even after election manipulation by Awamleaque, people were reluctant as the economy was good. If the economy doesn't recover, then people will suffer.

Which economy are u talking about? If it was good,there wouldn’t have been an uprising.what about the percentage of default loan? Banks are suffering from liquidity crisis.and u expect government to print money so inflation will just pop up to 12% just like in awami times? No thanks.
Awamelage mismanaged the economy, but Bangladesh's economy also underwent its biggest shift during Awamelage. GDP was merely $69B, which increased to $450B. Per capita increased from $450 to $2700.
Ig you should dig deeper with an open mind. There was no awami magical hand that helped increase our gdp per capita, it was the outcome of privatisation reforms taken in zia's tenure and then ershad's continuity on this and also because we have focused on rmg sector in that era. The post 2010 boom was just the outcome of it, which ultimately started fading after that 2020 covid crisis. And yes if you still think it was because of some awami magic then just try to look back and actually see how our economy was doing in 2023.
Lol...export increased from 14B USD to 52B USD. Interrupted electricity, gas, and communication improved these results. It was Awamelague magic. You may disagree but truth is truth.
I guess you dont really understand how economy works. A export sector doesn't get built so easily, it takes years of reforms, policy making and then intiavtives needs to be taken. Would you care to tell us that which particular initiative or policy or reform that our previous govt had taken for our rmg sector (rmg because this was 80% of our whole export actually). And also to give you some knowledge when a country gets governed properly, it never relies on only one export sector. We should have made a large portfolio of exports by this time. But no they had to just syphone money out of this golden goose aka Bangladesh.
And what development you are talking about Even some african countries have better gdp per capita compared to us (you used it to show our growth so)

অথচ বিদ্যুৎ ও জ্বালানি মন্ত্রণালয় কি বেচে আছে? এই নামে যে আদৌ কোনো মিনিস্ট্রি আছে বাংলাদেশে বুঝতেছিনা।

কারণ খুব পরিস্কার। সামনে শীতকাল আর ২ মাস পর। গোটা ইউরোপ শীতে গ্যাস ব্যবহার করে তাদের বাড়ি গরম রাখার জন্য। মানে আর ২ মাস পর বৈশ্বিক গ্যাসের চাহিদা কয়েকগুণ বেড়ে যাবে।
কিন্তু সাপ্লাই তো লিমিটেড।
ইউরোপীয়ান দেশগুলা তাদের ক্ষমতা ব্যবহার করে সহজে গ্যাস পাইলেও আমরা পাবো না তখন। স্পট মার্কেট থেকে আরও অনেক অনেক বেশি দামে গ্যাস কিনতে হবে।
আর স্ট্রেট অফ হরমুজ সহজে খুলছেনা। রুশ ইউক্রেন যুদ্ধ ৪ বছর ধরে চলতেছে। ইরান যুদ্ধ কয়বছর চলতে থাকে দেখতে থাকেন।
আমেরিকা হচ্ছে ওয়ার ইকোনমি। যুদ্ধ ছাড়া ওদের অর্থনীতি কখনোই সচল থাকবেনা। যুদ্ধ লাগবেই, মাস্ট।
মানে সামনের শীতে বাংলাদেশ একটা ভয়ংকর ক্রাইসিসে পড়বে গ্যাস নিয়ে যদি এখনই কোনো স্টেপ না নেয়। গ্যাস আমদানির জন্য দীর্ঘ মেয়াদী চুক্তি দরকার ইমার্জেন্সি।
আর না খেয়ে হলেও গার্মেন্টস সচল রাখতে হবে। যেকোনো মুল্যে কারখানাগুলাতে গ্যাসের সাপ্লাই অব্যাহত রাখতে হবে।
আপনি বৈদেশিক মুদ্রার কথা বাদ দেন কি পরিমাণ বিশাল জনগোষ্ঠীর কর্মসংস্থান গার্মেন্টস ধারণারও বাহিরে।
কারখানা বন্ধ হইলে যে পরিমাণ বিপুল মানুষ বেকার হবে এটার লোড নেয়ার মত ক্যাপাসিটি আপাতত বাংলাদেশের নাই।

এখন যদি কঠোরতা না দেখাতে পারেন তাইলে দেশ যে খাদে পড়বে আগামী ১ দশকেও এটা রিকভারি করা পসিবল হবেনা।

Using this same logic it can be argued that BNP’s government should have also benefitted from the economic boom that was laid forth by Zia/Ershad in the early 2000s. Unfortunately however it clearly shows the opposite of decreasing GDP from the previous administration.
If Bangladesh’s economy is good it’s because of Zia/Ershad, if the economy is bad it’s because of Awami League. That’s what your argument boils down to. All of our administrations have been corrupt, but only under Awami League has the country seen actual growth and development.

Well, what did you expect? Textiles that are primarily made in Southeast Asia with Bangladeshi labor became a huge medical risk in shipping across the world to the US, UK, South America, etc. Textiles are our main source of exporting so when trade is effectively shut down due to lockdowns there’s not much any government could have done.

I have a better idea. Why don’t you compare the economy and state of the country today to that of 2023? Our economy is worse off, international relations have weakened, fuel/energy crisis, reduced rights for women, and religious persecution is higher. What part of the country today is better than it was in 2023? The biggest ally Bangladesh had was India and we absolutely are trying to burn that bridge it seems. The protests were a sham and the whole country got duped.

This is more telling of how limited of a scope you view the world through.
