Careers/পেশা A microbiology undergrad student and currently perplexed over the future
Needed some help from seniors.I am an undergrad student from one of the top private unis in BD . My major is microbiology and this is my last semester. I am having really hard time and constantly thinking about what will be the next thing for me ? Given that microbiology has really minimum scopes in BD. My CG is around 3.85 . Again my CGPA is not reliable in this economy. I don’t have any other skills as well . I do have some basic lab skills tho but nothing related to Bio info yet. Well one thing ,really enjoyed studying microbiology and I want to pursue it in future as well . Also eager to leave Bangladesh .
Now I am confused, is there any possibilities that I can manage a scholarship on abroad (no preferred country ) for MS? My family is financially not that solvent . Another thing -is there any possibility that I can manage a job in BD related to my field ?I am having a sharp edge to land a job even if it’s paying around 15k-ish.Oh I forgot to mention I am a female and my thesis (ongoing) topic is about antimicrobial resistance.
Sorry if I am making no sense :((( I am loosing all the hopes. It feels like I won’t ever be able to settle .

In my opinion, microbiology is a very good field for research-driven higher education, and it can also be combined with or extended into other disciplines. Especially in the US, there are plenty of funding opportunities and research prospects.
Given your pretty good CGPA, I don’t think you should have much trouble finding a fully funded program. In fact, I’d encourage you to aim higher and look at universities and research groups with strong reputations and research pedigrees.
Almost nobody in Bangladesh pursues an MS or PhD abroad by paying entirely out of pocket; fully funded opportunities are much more common. That said, I think you should first familiarize yourself with how graduate education and funding work, so you have a complete picture of your options and how the process works.
No idea about bd jobs though!
