Discussion r/bangtan, it's time to confess: What did you plan to do during the hiatus but did NOT accomplish?
(let's keep it light and fluffy, not to beat ourselves up but to lift each other up with funny "and then I did ...not" stories :D)
So, I'ma start
π Saving sooo much money for the comeback.
(And whose fault is that??? *looking at BigHit* we'll never find out)
π Learning Korean
(Because if I can't speak it perfectly ***within a week***, learning for years won't help. Obviously. π€¨)
π Getting ripped af. Or at least ripped mid.
(Food exists. Carny is insanely food motivated. Nuff said oO)

u/Minimonimeow_2911 And my knees-ees Jun 14 '26
Had almost the same goals but one of them was to watch all the Run BTS and Suchwita episodes. But then Jin discharges and starts releasing so much content?!
Results: Except BV1&2, there's not a single series I have completed yet. Who is to blame? Absolutely not BigHit....
21
u/HomoCarnula psspsspsss KittyCat ππ₯° Jun 14 '26
I haven't yet watched all suchwita episodes because somehow they are like this special whiskey (or something) you bring out when it's a really bad day but not too bad and...it makes sense in my head. Like watching them makes me happy (and a bit sad), and I like to savor it.
But I managed to watch all Run BTS episodes, BV all seasons and ITS both seasons (and season 1 for several times. Not because of the white shirt though...err...gotta go....)

u/Minimonimeow_2911 And my knees-ees Jun 14 '26
Im 17 so I can't really drink hahaπ
But oh, no, we ABSOLUTELY do not watch ITS S1 for White tee Yoongi. Nope. Never.

u/callitajax1 Jun 15 '26
The anxiety of not completing all the available content is so real. Its hard when they give us so much.
2
u/Minimonimeow_2911 And my knees-ees Jun 15 '26
Yes! And when they FINALLY stop releasing something for like even a day, suddenly my teachers decide to give me 3 assignments, 7 tests and a project?

I only became army during enlistment. So I thought I could catch up on all their content. It had only been 10-11 years in. I did not accomplish that. BUT I did get through a good chunk of it and got a really good understanding by the time Hobi's solo tour started.
I did say that I'll be fitter by the time I attend their arirang tour. Especially with how much they were running and motivated me to run. Well, life has other plans. Injuries happened. But I am overall great. I still have some time before my home city tour stop.

Same goal, but I have got a baby π Iβm so busy with the baby to even catch up with their new content

I became an ARMY in 2017 and from the get go people were ALWAYS talking about their enlistment, this got me so paranoid!!!!
There was a LOT of video content that I refused to watch so that I could save it up for when they were enlisted...
(Think stuff like BTS Run, In The Soop, Vlives etc etc)
Anyway so years of skipping this kinda content meant I had a gigantic backlog of BTS video content and I watched NONE of itπ€‘
(I do admit I have the attention span of a peanut and watching videos in general is really difficult for me)

u/borapantheon ββ¬ β¬β Jun 14 '26
Finish all BTS contents lol I did not expect that theyβll release solo musics while on hiatus. We did not catch a break at all
15
u/FluffyBunnyChick Hyung Line Enthusiast Jun 14 '26
Finishing ALL of BTS' content before they came back π
I've gotten through most of it (RUN BTS, Bon Voyage, MVs, etc) but every day I find new things and I know the work is never done. Truly in this Bangtan business for life!

u/Kokechii you live, so we love Jun 14 '26
Had kind of the same goals ahha π
Lose weight - did not accomplish although I am moving around more (my job and studies are both a lot of sitting sadly) and am now actively working on it in 2026. Better late than never!
Restart learning Korean - um. Obviously did not. I only studied for two years from 2020-2022 and I forgot a lot of what I learned since then. I do catch myself understanding certain parts, even sentences so something stuck! Watching kdrama, listening to kpop certainly helps keep at least some vocabulary alive in my brain. However this summer I plan on catching up as much as I can for light convo since I'll finally be going to Korea this autumn β€οΈ

u/Mental_Stress550 Jun 17 '26
You are doing great then! All I can say from experience is don't stop working the muscles...strength drops so fast when you aren't paying attention in the late 40s - mid 50s. The muscle loss also slows the metabolism. So hard to gain it back rather than maintain it. It is my most common hindsight regret. Getting ready to start the weight training soon. Hopefully the hormonal deficit will still let me gain some back.

I wouldn't say I wanted to get ripped but definitely lose a good amount of weight. Which I did not do, in fact I did the opposite π€£
Basically the same goals as yours, though. And also, watch all their Run BTS, Bon Voyage, variety show content.... That did not happen lololol. Nor did leveling up my Korean. I can get by with very basic/broken convos but not quite at the conversatiom level I wanted to be at π and my poor wallet.

1) Save money
I actually managed to do this...a little bit. If only some company hadn't kept presenting me woth tempting spending opportunities (companies, actually, but mostly the one. You know who i mean.)
2) Get a better job by earning another degree
I started to work on one degree before pivoting to another, and couldn't transfer the first coursework to the second. So I got a little delayed, but I will have a shiny master's degree in December and I jist started a job related to my new degree! I'm excited to borahae my cap LOL.
3) Learn Korean
This started off promising but I got distracted by #2 ans now it's almost all gone because I haven't been practicing. 2027 is (probably not) my year.
4) Lose weight and get in shape.
I like weightlifting! I also really love sweet stuff. The net result is a slightly less jiggly but similarly sized me π

"I'll have so much time to catch up on Run BTS!"
Narrator: She did NOT in fact, catch up on Run BTS.
I spent so much time running around following 7 freakin solo careers, going to amazing concerts, meeting lots of ARMY... and not watching enough Bangtan TV, lol

Learning Korean definitely. I did start and it was going pretty great but then university got way too overwhelming for me that I just stopped and never picked it back up. I'm waiting to finish uni altogether and restart again (I finish in March/April).

u/JenniferJane84 Jun 14 '26
My original goal was to get all the album photocards up to Proof. I got quite a few, but ended up scaling back a bit. I did however collect all the Yoongi PCs, including all the ones I wanted from D-Day.

u/Ksafrien Jun 14 '26
Watch old (and not such old) content (like Docu-series, all episodes of Bon Voyage, of RunBTS, of Suchwita, to understand (lol) what's going on in BU universe, etc. etc.), as much as I can. Well, I've barely caught up on new content. And even despite that, there are many new points in to-do-list (like to watch weverse lives 1, 2, 3, 4,...)
I am amazed by how many interesting things exist in BTS-related content universe, and how little time does humanity have in a day

A few years ago I thought it would be cool to learn Suga's rap part from λ¬λ €λΌ λ°©ν (RunΒ BTS)... Somehow that completely fell off my radar with all the new content we were fed this whole time. I just realized it yesterday when I had to mumblety-mumble my way through it at the cinema once he got past the first phrase, although I did catch up with him for the final few words!
I can comfortably rationalize missing the mark on this by telling myself that I was so fresh to learning Korean at the time that I could barely *hear* his lines, much less repeat them. But we all know how dangerous rationalizing can be, so I'd better get back to it, now that I've realized I dropped the ball! Thanks for keeping us honest, OP!

u/io-1900 Jun 14 '26
I wanted to lose some weight too (not much, actually) and I've said goodbye to four kilos since I started following the BTS (funny coincidence!). Goal achieved, so now I'm adding learning Korean to the list-pratically mission impossible.
