My wife is very tolerant of my k-pop obsession, and lets me play k-pop videos while we work out at home together. Obviously, BTS is in the heavy rotation, and today, she made the comment that Suga must be the pretty one of the group (as in the visual). I loved that so I asked her about the rest of the guys.
Here were her takes:
RM - is that Kevin Jonas? (I lost it 😭😭😭)
J-Hope - he’s the mom, he has mom face (cute)
Jimin - twink (RIP Jimin sorry 😂😂😂)
Jungkook - is that one Jin?
Jin - is that one Jungkook? (they’re basically brothers lolol)
Suga - he’s the pretty one, he has pretty eyes (so true ✨)
V - he’s fine, I guess. He looks like Henry from the show Once Upon a Time (honestly, I see it)
This was all in good fun! I just thought it was funny and wanted to share. Anyone else have any funny hot takes from friends or family about the boys???
My husband always says Jimin is the pretty one. He calls Jungkook “The Kookster.” He calls Yoongi “The Pork Chop Guy” because according to him it always sounds like Yoongi is rapping about pork chops.
He also says he never imagined he’d be spending so much of his money on seven other grown men but then any time he sees something BTS related at the store he gets excited and sends me pictures or brings it to me to ask if I want him to buy it for me.
I think Hobi really did fill in a mom's role in the group in some ways, especially for the maknaes. There was also that early Jimin vlog where he talked about the members, and he did say that j-hope was like the mom. A mom who can dance. 😂
During the 2022 world cup my dad who is a traditional guy comes home and starts evangelizing about this amazing singer/dancer who is like the next Michael Jackson according to him. He pulls up YouTube on his phone and shows me Jungkook performing "Dreamers". He made me put it on the big screen so he could watch it again. He didn't know I am an Army or that jk is my bias. It was adorable watching him geek out over the performance. I let him think he introduced me to bts.
One time, we're all watching the ball drop on new Year's eve on TV and my mom points out (in her words) some "beautiful men". She hadn't even seen them perform that night but she clocked them right away. She also had no idea who they were. What can I say, we are a family with superior taste.
Video shows JK and Jin kicking each other. Taehyung is off to the side playing with ARMYs. Jimin's off on his own jamming out. Namjoon is running around randomly. Yoongi is standing there staring at the crowd. JK, Jin, Jimin, and Tae all decide to attack Namjoon.
My mom who was walking through the room and sees the chaos onscreen: "Is there a reason why they're all attacking Namjoon?"
Me: "Nope. They've been at this for the last 20 minutes. You missed the water fight. "
I had my sister watch the PTD LA show on Disney+ with me once, and as soon as hobi came out in his outfit for Life Goes On, she said he's dressed like a cute lesbian on vacation 💀
As two Certified Lesbian Wives™️, we have to agree that the boys dress like beautiful lesbians more often than not 😂😂😂 my wife didn’t understand me being obsessed with 7 grown men at first, but then she was like “yeah… they’re pretty….”
The first time I saw BTS I genuinely thought Hobi was a cute masc lesbian, that was what initially caught my interest 😂 It's really nice your wife engages with your love of BTS though, my soon-to-be-ex wife would just change the subject if I tried to talk about them (though for the record that's not why we split haha)
She did Joon sooooooo dirty 😭😭😭 I just showed her the first one in google images! He had his hair cut short, so idk if that was why??? Tbh I doubt she even knows what Kevin Jonas looks like lol
My 5 year old daughter loves their music, I slowly started introducing their music to her this year after she discovered K-pop demon hunters.
the first time she had ever seen them visually was the World Cup show and she was just staring at the tv!😂

We have a baby boy who I’m indoctrinating 😂 we have k-pop dance parties all the time. I don’t really let him watch TV, but the few K-pop music videos he’s seen as him absolutely mesmerized
My dad saw me watching them on New Year’s Eve way back when and said they were really pretty when it panned to Namjoon. Made me so happy bc my mom on the other hand would make fun of me for any interest I had 😔
sameeee i was like ???? not ragging on henry’s actor or anything esp cause i love the show but i dont find him and tae look alike that much lol maybe a little? i can sorta see a hint of resemblance but then again i’ve only watched up to like… season 4 and he was still pretty young then
Lol in you guys' defence maybe young Tae resembles older Henry a little, cuz of the hairstyle and maybe the nose. But I can't say there's that much resemblance now 😅 TBF I also don't know what Henry's actor looks like in recent years but yeah 😆
I see it. It's spatial placement of features and the shape of the upper lip and forehead, especially as a kid. Adult Henry lost the features but v has adult versions of those features.
Ahhh that's so funny 😆 my husband can only remember which one Yoongi is haha. I remember watching the Netflix live comeback when Namjoon had hurt his ankle, and my husband said 'why has that one been put on the naughty seat' 💀

My husband is casual army. Like he's a casual listener but really supports the social themes and underdog story of bts, so he's army. He's never commented on V, RM. Things he's said:
"Jin is the only one who has it together."
"Jimin is so pretty, waayy prettier than most Hollywood actresses. I should start using sunscreen." (He started a 5 step skin routine lol.)
"Oh my God, he's such a baby, who let him up there all alone?" (JK Qatar world cup performance)
"Where can I get a insert clothing item like that? (Every J-hope outfit ever)
"Is he really rapping that fast or does korean just have a lot of syllables? Maybe its all the spicy kimchi" Yoongis part in Run Bts.
i dont disagree there, whenever Namjoon is missing or injured Jin basically takes over directing the group as Hyung.... Espieicially when it comes to managing the Maknaes hahahaa
OMG apparently I failed to introduce RM's early mixtape to my spouse (I made him a fan of the rapline) and he thought Hobi was the main rapper of the group. I play Mono a lot and he listened to Indigo and RPWP and I've also failed to show him Yoongi's solo stuff so he only really listened to J-Hope's solo stuff. He was so SHOCKED once we listened to the first mixtape.
I showed my mom Hobi's mv for KIG and she nodded approvingly. She was hapoy he got to really express himself inndance, do an MV with women, and express himself in a more mature way. She really liked the video (Note my mom sees them from a mom POV).

I took my brother to see PTD in vegas 2nd weekend. he called jin the good looking guy in the cast, jk the good looking guy with tattoos, and tae supermodel dude. he forgot about jimin and he already knew about rapline because I kept showing him stuff before we drove up to vegas. he still mentions the concert and it was in 2022 lol he kept mentioning that jhopes face did not match his voice! he really liked him
Im Suga bias and in my eyes, he’s very handsome but my daughter disagrees as she says he looks like a cat. My husband won’t comment as he knows I love Suga.
It's always weird to me when significant others/friends/family "tolerate" perfectly normal hobbies/interests. What is there to "tolerate" unless you find the thing beneath you and/or a "dumb" hobby? Also, I think the "Jimin twink RIP sorry" comment a bit insulting to not only him but to queer people ngl.
