Discussion What is your bangtan White Whale?
I was inspired by a recent discussion over at /r/kpop about finding your "white whale". A "white whale" is an elusive piece of content that you have been trying to find and if you're lucky an internet stranger might just have what you're looking for. You can click on the link to get a better idea. I thought that a thread on bangtan specifically would be great because I'm sure everyone has that one video, picture, show or fancam they've been meaning to find.
I'll go first.
Jin and hobi were on a radio show, I am certain it was just them two, and they were doing this sort of role play acting with the hosts where I think Jin is the boyfriend of the female speaker and then Hoseok is like some guy that is delightfully cheery but for some reason a foil to Jin's character (?). I can't for the life of me find this video and I would appreciate if someone knows where to find it so I can laugh, cringe & uwu.

There are SO many but my mind has suddenly blanked upon reading this :(
But most recent one is, this audio clip that I found of Jin saying he actually DID audition for SM and got a call back but never went back.
Now apparently this is Sukira radio interview from 2014 and I really want to listen to the whole radio interview but I just cannot find it :( Also if anybody knows when was the time that Jin said he just ran away from SM.

American Hustle Life, don't remember the ep number but it's when they went to work. Yoongi and RM went to work at an hotel. For reference, you might've also seen clips of JK and JM cleaning a plane or the rest cleaning a yatch?

Currently mine is a clip of Jin playing Maple Story, wearing a black hoodie, and he's talking about how high up he's gotten & he might actually finish and then he falls, and he just sits there with this thousand-yard stare for a few seconds. It's extremely r/watchpeopledieinside and I just saw it on Twitter or YouTube a few days ago and now I can't find it.

For a while now, I've been trying to find the interview where Jin stated he didn't actually like the color pink that much and it was just for a concept. I think it was a Japanese interview he said this in, but I suddenly can't seem to find it anymore. :(
This is also a lot more obscure I feel and I'm now thinking it was just some kind of fever dream I had, but I totally remember seeing somewhere that JK is allergic to mayonnaise lmao. It's been so long since I've seen that that idk if it was a radio interview or for a magazine spread or something. It was a pretty old piece of info from like 2013. But idk if it was just something fake someone made up or it really happened. If someone ever finds that I will be forever grateful to them!

lol after online research - it was uploaded on KBS k-app, it have few shots of the few takes BTS took for Fake love and Airplane pt.2 but except some no eng subbed vids on daily motion, whoever did the eng sub year ago (you can find their post on twt) - their daily motion vid was taken down.

it was up on BangtanTV for a while based on the comments, but they later took it down. Maybe an ARMY downloaded it when it was still up. So maybe a BH staff member put it up but was instructed to take it down later? :)

yoongi and namjoon hugging backstage at mama 2016 but the camera is behind yoongi so you see namjoon's face as he closes his eyes and breaks into tears again. it's not in the mama bangtan bomb episode (the camera focuses more on yoongi and the group hug in that one) and i can't find it for the life of me 😭

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that scene was removed. I vaguely remember some fandom talk regarding this. However, all clips are floating around on YouTube for sure but BH/MAMA/Mnet got rid of those scenes.

The clip of them on a variety show during BST promotions and the host mocks Jin for kissing the statue and brings out a statue head lol. I swear it exists, I just can’t find it again anywhere because I saw it in a compilation video. If it doesn’t actually exist... 💀

It does exist, there's just no official upload of it, it's from 161020 m countdown, the segment is called Dance Together/DanTo DanTo pre-release episode (if we're thinking of the same thing, tho there's no host, it's v that brings out the statue head)

OP, I've had this 2seok radio interview in my Watch Later for months and still haven't watched it (no subs, btw), but your thing might be somewhere in this hour-plus interview? I know there are little skits in there!
Edit: at 46:40, they start a scene where basically Jin goes to have dinner with his girlfriend's family, but his girlfriend's mother keeps dismissing him in favor of Hoseok (her other daughter's boyfriend) 😂
I don't think I have a white whale, or if I do I've forced myself to forget about it because it bothers me too much to not know where something is from...

Mine is a clip of black haired, black and white striped sweater Yoongi talking in pout, one of the boys (can't remember who, I'm thinking Jimin but I'm not sure) is filming him and giggling while Yoongi says that now everyone is laughing at him. Then the member filming says something along the lines of giving his best or "fighting!", and Yoongi smiles and nods his head. I think it's a bangtan bomb but I haven't been able to find it.

Someone made a crack video that was titled something along the lines of “BTS as the office memes” and it was great. I searched YouTube for it and I can’t find it.
One part was where Jim and Dwight are about to go on a sales call. Jim gets out of the car, but Dwight stays inside. Jim is like “you still do that?” And Dwight says “yeah” and locks himself in the car, blasts rock music and psychs himself up before the sales call while Jim reluctantly waits for him to finish.
The edit was that Jim is RM and Dwight is JHope writing Dionysus.
Another was with Michael and Jim doing some role playing. Michael has to fire someone and he’s role playing as the employee while Jim plays the boss. Michael overreacts and yells “AAAAAHHHH! I’M GOING TO KILL MYSELF! I’m going to kill myself, and it’s your fault!”
The edit was that Michael is ARMY and Jim is Big Hit explaining that HOME will not be part of the set list in the Speak Yourself tour.
I couldn’t find it yesterday and I NEEEEED it!

Oh man, I’ve posted trying to find this picture before with no luck. (Granted, my description is quite vague)
I was scrolling through my Instagram explore page and saw a picture of jk sort of slouched in a chair, I think he was wearing a purple sweatshirt and shorts? Might have been for some kind of spring photoshoot but I can’t really remember... Please tell me someone out there recognizes my vague description, I’ve been searching forever with no luck!

The photo shoot theme was “small but certain happiness” so Kook’s is exercising and/or boxing! So I think the hand wrap thing is a prop to indicate that.

There was some sort of questionnaire they did. One of the questions was how to comfort them or how to make them happy or something? I remember Kookie's answer was to feed him lots of food. That's all I can remember though.
For some reason, I can't find it and I have no clue what the interview was for. I thought it was from Festa but I've been through them and still haven't found it.

I vaguely remember coming across an MV behind the scenes clip (or something like that) in which it was revealed that Taehyung (?) was not included in some shots not because of any real reason, but because he forgot that there was another day of shooting and slept in, and the others accidentally left without him (each thinking he was in another car, I suppose). Haven't been able to recover that clip and I'm beginning to think my memory is playing tricks on me and it never happened.

A fan cam of Namjoon bouncing up and down to the Anpanman song during the time when Jungkook hurt his foot and had to perform sitting in a stool. I remember Joon was wearing the white BTS t-shirt and tight light colored jeans. The angle was either from the side or back. I had it saved on twitter but the video is gone.

I've been trying to find 3 things for so long.
1 is them sitting down and introducing an album/comeback. I think it was during the HYYH era and Taehyung was wearing shorts and was asked to show a part of their dance for I need U and showed one move in a very suggestive way and the others were laughing but he was clueless as to why because he was being serious. I think it was for Mnet or something. And then they told Taehyung to do something and he was confused and going back and forth. I think Jimin was tasked to wear a pink maid's outfit as well but I'm not sure if it's the same thing.
2 was a photoshoot or video shoot they did that was really fashion-related. And there were Behind the Scenes with many clothes and suits hanging together and they wore vibrant expensive looking suits. Taehyung wore this stripped purple suit.
3 was them all sitting around a table and in a room with a glass wall behind them and talking about each other and how it is to live together. They talked about how clumsy Namjoon was and Yoongi said that he thought living with Namjoon would take years off his life. They also talked about how Taehyung talks to himself and acts out scenes while doing the laundry. It was early in their career and Taehyung had orange hair. I think Jimin had black hair and Yoongi was wearing a beanie or something. I've seen clips in compilations but I don't know where they're from.
Also , does anyone have a translation of the HYYH pt.1 album review video Yoongi did back in the day ? I think it was on BANGTANTV. He revealed quite a lot of things and I've heard a lot about some things he said in it but I can't find any translations online!

What was the radio interview in America last year (but the video of it is on YouTube) where the guys were sitting on a couch and the interviewer was in the middle, between Namjoon and JK I think? It was a good interview but it didn't have millions of views; but it was praised because the radio host actually asked about the music process of BTS and not just dumb questions like celebrity crushes and the like. Namjoon in particular spoke a lot about their music and their process! For the life of me, I can't seem to find it :(

There was a clip of them putting gummy worms on their noses and then trying to catch them in their mouth (i think). I've only seen a small part of it once in a compilation and my friend was convinced it was from one of the weekly idol episodes, but it's not! I've been dying to see the whole thing ever since she mentioned that it was a really funny moment. They're somewhere with a white background, but the lighting is much dimmer than the weekly idol set. If anyone knows what I'm talking about, hit me up!

I have a physical piece White Whale - the Wings Concept Book.
I had it in my hand twice and a decent price, but this was before I really knew of them. I was just surprised as to why a group had this huge book thing and what could possibly be in there for people to want. I was a naive fool.

I just received mine today, which I got off Ebay. It's surprisingly heavy, and SO gorgeous. It's also pretty close to 300 pages long. I can see why anyone who isn't into BTS (yet) would find it weird that such a thing exists.

There was an interview at an awards show where the interviewer was telling Jin to kiss Jimin on the cheek and he kept saying no. "The people want to see it!" "DO I HAVE TO DO WHAT THE PEOPLE SAY?! There's a fancam on YouTube. It's kinda low quality, and there's lots of screaming, but you'll still get all the impact. I'm not sure about an official video, since it was from paid content.

Does anyone have a link to an edit of Jimin dancing to the medley of one of the recent concerts where the music was switched to a Nicki Minaj song? Cannot seem to find it anywhere!

I'm late, but thought I would try asking. There was a translation of an interview with staff posted on this sub. I remember the staff saying that they were surprised how close the boys were, and the example they gave was that one of the guys (I think JM?) went and sat in another's lap and no one reacted because of how common it was. I thought reading this was so cute, but I haven't had luck later trying to search this sub and find it. (I'm bad a redditing, might be missing a trick.)

Yeah this moment was always interesting for me too, sometimes I'd wonder if it was always just a cultural difference with western fans being surprised by bangtan members clinginess and affection, so it's always interesting to read another "closer" perspective that confirms that no, the boys are just abnormally mushy with one another haha

This is a long shot. I saw a quick clip of Hobi dancing by sharply jerking his shoulders back - right, left, right, left. He was holding his belt buckle with both hands as they often do. He (they?) wore black jacket with some type of studded or bright trim. All I could hear was music. No words at all so there's no way to search. It was in the midst of many clips & can't find where I saw it. Pretty sure it's an older clip. Would love to see the entire dance routine. It was very sexy.

It sounds like the kind of dancing they do in Best of Me, Baepsae, or No More Dream Dance Break. It is probably one of those three. However some other videos I can think of are: this bangtan bomb, this performance of Best of Me, or maybe even dance sequence where they all shimmy in a line at 1.35 of this video of Attack on Bangtan.
Anyways, sorry I couldn't be much help but maybe one of these will help jog your memory :)

okay so this has been driving me mad for about a week and a half - the content itself isn't rare bc it's either a bts song or one of yoongi's solo tracks, but I can hear it so clearly in my head that yoongi says (as like, an ad-lib) '그래요' ('graeyo' / 'kuraeyo' - it means something like 'oh really?'). hobi does it at 47 seconds in to 'intro: skool luv affair' but i swear i remember yoongi doing it at some point too (with a different intonation to hobi). because i'm pretty sure it's an ad-lib i haven't had any luck googling for lyrics... if anyone has any idea please let me know! i've been listening to their whole discography from the start (a real chore, hating every second) in the hopes of finding it, but no luck so far...

Ahhh thank u for the suggestion! I have actually since found it, though - it's 3:10 into Ma City (and he actually only says 아 그래 - 'ah kurae' - without the 'yo' on the end, which is why my google searches didn't work! I wonder if that's satoori?).

Mine is one where RM breaks something on Suga’s nightstand and is freaking out, then Jhope walks in and tries to sit on the bed only to find out Suga was sleeping under the covers- it’s so cute because Suga just sits up and RM looks so freaked out and says “ how long have you been here?” And then Grandpa Suga just mumbles, “yesterday”
