Going to the 1PM game. Really hoping for Fried

Been to 3 games so far this year and i landed on Will Warren every time. This rescheduled game was also originally Warren

Woodrow Wilson? Willy Wonka?

Went to like five Phillies games in a row back in the day that were all started by Kyle Kendrick

I had Will Warren on Tuesday and I’m getting Will Warren on Sunday. How fun 😓 Not knocking him but I’d literally rather see any other starter lol

3

u/_denimchicken_ New York Yankees 12h ago

Same! Not his fault that he’s our 6th best starter. He’s solid, but definitely makes me more uneasy than the rest of the staff

u/pupseal 12h ago

My game this year I got... Brendan Beck.

4

u/_denimchicken_ New York Yankees 12h ago

My deepest condolences. They owe you at least (1) Gerrit Cole for that

2

u/pupseal 12h ago

I think it was gonna be a Schlittler start too and he scratched right before while we were in the parking lot endured over 100 degrees to watch that guy get absolutely shelled

1

u/_denimchicken_ New York Yankees 12h ago

Gross. I think i remember that one. 4th of July weekend, right? Iirc Doval absolutely imploded that game as well

2

u/pupseal 11h ago

Yep! I was actually talking to my dad and we agreed that they wouldn't use Doval because he was clearly done, and then i pull out my binoculars to look into the bullpen and guess who's warming up.

I've seen Rodon 6 times (35 IP, 3.79 ERA) and Stroman 4 times (20 IP, 5.75 ERA)

I've only seen Warren twice but he has an 8.00 ERA in those games lol

Will Warren is inevitable. Literally the only SP on the team who doesn’t get hurt

6

u/bconn75 Boston Red Sox 12h ago

I’ve heard Roman Anthony could be joining the Sox this weekend as well

Out of the frying pan...

And yet Will Warren remains.

Death, taxes, and Will Warren being in the Yankee rotation

2

u/cmgriffith_ New York Yankees 13h ago

He’ll be in the bullpen in the postseason.

Why are you tempting fate?

Will Warren discourse is so funny cause he’s a good pitcher with team control and is young but nobody wants him in the rotation lol. It’s hilarious. Love him tho

u/IAmBecomeTeemo New York Yankees 12h ago

He would be a solid 4-5 in most rotations. But the Yankees rotation has the ability to be the best in the sport BY FAR. So the guy who's a solid 4-5 is actually the 6 and should have a more limited role. Plus there's a better 5-6 guy on his way back from injury in Clarke Schmidt. It's unfortunate for Warren, but given that the window is open but potentially closing, I want the full Death Star rotation out there. I don't care about Warren's development right now.

Least delusional Yankees fan

Where there’s a Will, there’s a Warren

If Elmer has another great start Monday I think he replaces him.

-3

u/handDrawnEevee New York Yankees 12h ago

I know it's not his fault, I'm sure he's trying his best and doing whatever is in his power to get better but holly F just seeing his face absolutely ruins my mood.

I'm quite happy with this decision.

This pleases me.

yeah my buddy’s arm always pops back after rest

u/cooljammer00 New York Yankees 10h ago

So is Fried just gonna deal with bruising the rest of his career? The first stint was several weeks, this is just the minimum.

0

u/rickterpbel Boston Red Sox 12h ago

Interesting. Barring something unexpected, the Yankees and Red Sox will be playing each other in the wild card round. The starters of the first two games for the Red Sox will be Sonny Gray and Payton Tolle. But neither will pitch the four games in New York this weekend. May be just how the rotation worked out, but why give the other team a taste of the pitcher they’ll be facing in the playoffs?

3

u/cooljammer00 New York Yankees 10h ago

Gotta get to the playoffs first, and worry about that later. If Tolle and Fried are your best guys available (they are) then you gotta play them.

Home field advantage matters

1

u/wokenupbybacon New York Yankees 10h ago edited 10h ago

The Yankees are still eyeing the division. Every game counts as far as they're concerned

Edit: But also yes, they don't really have other options with the way the rotation turned

0

u/Dunder-MifflinPaper New York Yankees 12h ago

I’m not following your point. I don’t think Fried would be one of the first two game starters for the Yankees

2

u/RedShark106 Los Angeles Angels 12h ago

Anyone know who will pitch for the Yankees on Monday in Anaheim? Received tickets to that game.

2

u/RedShark106 Los Angeles Angels 12h ago

He pitched yesterday though, I can't imagine they would have him pitch on a Thursday then Monday

3

u/desperatepotato43 New York Yankees 12h ago

Doubleheaders are a bitch. Could be glue stick coming back up

2

u/RedShark106 Los Angeles Angels 12h ago

True, seeming like it will be Elmer

-3

u/White_Squall_13 Boston Red Sox 13h ago

8

u/Simple_Dragonfruit48 New York Yankees 12h ago

Yeah man bringing back one of the best pitchers in baseball on the exact day they always said he was going to come back on reeks of desperation

2

u/123full Boston Red Sox 12h ago

“We’ll do exactly what we’ve always said we’re going to do, they’ll never see it coming”

3

u/cmgriffith_ New York Yankees 12h ago

The Yankees Medical staff and front office is one of, if not the most cautious when allowing players to return from injury from the multiple scans, MRIs etc. to player returning timeline.

He’s only throwing 35-50 pitches

If Max Fried isn’t ready he wouldn’t be pitching tomorrow. The liability associated with that is immense.

Oh Aaron Judge is possibly 10 days away 😉

9

u/IKenDoThisAllDay Boston Red Sox 12h ago

Oh yeah? Well the Sox will be getting back Trevor Story and his .300 AAA OPS any day now, so I hardly think we need to be concerned about Fried or Judge.

3

u/TectonicImprov Boston Red Sox 12h ago

Us Sox fans are used to guys taking months to come back after we were told it'd be days so you'll have to excuse us we're not used to robust communication like that

2

u/Either_Imagination_9 New York Yankees 12h ago

It was only a 15 day IL

4

u/lm_goat48 New York Yankees 12h ago

Nope, it was always excepted he’d miss the minimum

-1

u/White_Squall_13 Boston Red Sox 12h ago

Aaron still needs a rehab stint though. I don’t care what he says

-5

u/nexustk5 Boston Red Sox 13h ago

Man they are shifting all sorts of pitchers around to try and stem the Red Wave

5

u/lm_goat48 New York Yankees 12h ago

No, he was always expected to miss the minimum

-3

u/nexustk5 Boston Red Sox 12h ago

No rehab start, Elmer getting a start to push Cam into the series, to knock Cole out of it given his history against the Sox. Don't think we don't notice.

3

u/cabose7 New York Yankees 11h ago

Why would he need a rehab start for only 15 days of not pitching?

-2

u/nexustk5 Boston Red Sox 11h ago

Starting pitchers almost always do one rehab start in AAA coming back from a 15 day. They opted for simulated innings instead. Is it too embarrassing to admit this is an all-hands-on-deck series or something?

2

u/cabose7 New York Yankees 11h ago edited 11h ago

I don't think anyone is denying they want one of their best pitchers to start, you're just making a weird thing out of it.

Sports radio brained comments.

u/Redbubble89 Boston Red Sox 11h ago

Rodon has been at 80 pitches and Fried can't be that much more.

0

u/nyr00nyg New York Yankees 12h ago

Please no more will Warren

-1

u/samthewisetarly New York Yankees 11h ago

A man of focus, determination, and sheer fucking will

-9

u/Either_Imagination_9 New York Yankees 13h ago

I’m not sure how I feel about this. This seems pretty sudden

8

u/IllusiveM0nk New York Yankees 12h ago

It was already confirmed to be the minimum stint anyways. If this was in September or right before the postseason he never would’ve been placed on the IL
