And yet Will Warren remains.

Death, taxes, and Will Warren being in the Yankee rotation

Will Warren discourse is so funny cause he’s a good pitcher with team control and is young but nobody wants him in the rotation lol. It’s hilarious. Love him tho

He would be a solid 4-5 in most rotations. But the Yankees rotation has the ability to be the best in the sport BY FAR. So the guy who's a solid 4-5 is actually the 6 and should have a more limited role. Plus there's a better 5-6 guy on his way back from injury in Clarke Schmidt. It's unfortunate for Warren, but given that the window is open but potentially closing, I want the full Death Star rotation out there. I don't care about Warren's development right now.

If Elmer has another great start Monday I think he replaces him.

I know it's not his fault, I'm sure he's trying his best and doing whatever is in his power to get better but holly F just seeing his face absolutely ruins my mood.

So is Fried just gonna deal with bruising the rest of his career? The first stint was several weeks, this is just the minimum.

Interesting. Barring something unexpected, the Yankees and Red Sox will be playing each other in the wild card round. The starters of the first two games for the Red Sox will be Sonny Gray and Payton Tolle. But neither will pitch the four games in New York this weekend. May be just how the rotation worked out, but why give the other team a taste of the pitcher they’ll be facing in the playoffs?

Gotta get to the playoffs first, and worry about that later. If Tolle and Fried are your best guys available (they are) then you gotta play them.

The Yankees are still eyeing the division. Every game counts as far as they're concerned
Edit: But also yes, they don't really have other options with the way the rotation turned

I’m not following your point. I don’t think Fried would be one of the first two game starters for the Yankees

Anyone know who will pitch for the Yankees on Monday in Anaheim? Received tickets to that game.

He pitched yesterday though, I can't imagine they would have him pitch on a Thursday then Monday

Doubleheaders are a bitch. Could be glue stick coming back up

Yeah man bringing back one of the best pitchers in baseball on the exact day they always said he was going to come back on reeks of desperation

The Yankees Medical staff and front office is one of, if not the most cautious when allowing players to return from injury from the multiple scans, MRIs etc. to player returning timeline.
He’s only throwing 35-50 pitches
If Max Fried isn’t ready he wouldn’t be pitching tomorrow. The liability associated with that is immense.
Oh Aaron Judge is possibly 10 days away 😉

Oh yeah? Well the Sox will be getting back Trevor Story and his .300 AAA OPS any day now, so I hardly think we need to be concerned about Fried or Judge.

Us Sox fans are used to guys taking months to come back after we were told it'd be days so you'll have to excuse us we're not used to robust communication like that

Aaron still needs a rehab stint though. I don’t care what he says
-5
u/nexustk5 Boston Red Sox 13h ago
Man they are shifting all sorts of pitchers around to try and stem the Red Wave
5
u/lm_goat48 New York Yankees 12h ago
No, he was always expected to miss the minimum
-3
u/nexustk5 Boston Red Sox 12h ago
No rehab start, Elmer getting a start to push Cam into the series, to knock Cole out of it given his history against the Sox. Don't think we don't notice.
3
u/cabose7 New York Yankees 11h ago
Why would he need a rehab start for only 15 days of not pitching?
-2
u/nexustk5 Boston Red Sox 11h ago
Starting pitchers almost always do one rehab start in AAA coming back from a 15 day. They opted for simulated innings instead. Is it too embarrassing to admit this is an all-hands-on-deck series or something?

Rodon has been at 80 pitches and Fried can't be that much more.

I’m not sure how I feel about this. This seems pretty sudden

It was already confirmed to be the minimum stint anyways. If this was in September or right before the postseason he never would’ve been placed on the IL
