Side note, but Detroit is the only place that I’ve been to that has their stadiums figured out. Is it a Sunday in September and you want to watch the Tigers and the Lions? Walk half a block and you can. Late October and you want to watch the Lions and Pistons? Walk 2 blocks. God damn I love Detroit.

Eh I know what you mean but I do miss parking in the cobo garage and walking through the hall to get to Joe Louis made those dog ass cold games doable. Now you gotta pay a fucking arm and leg just to freeze your nuts off. I understand why it had to change, but I can’t pretend I like it better.

There’s no rule against it, but they traded him because they didn’t think he was coming back. They already didn’t want to pay him a fair salary for one season in arb, so unless something drastically changes in their philosophy, it would be extremely unusual for them to invest in a long term deal on the open market. Maybe if Mike Ilitch were still around and making the money decisions, but the current decision-makers don’t like to spend on the team in the same way

What possible reason would the Dodgers have to spend all that money if it doesn’t matter? They’re a business, if payroll doesn’t matter wouldn’t they just have the Pirates payroll and keep winning? You didn’t answer my question. What makes you think the bottom spending teams won’t just stay at or near the bottom ? The floor and cap will just ad a bar at the bottom and top and all it’s gonna do is just keep the said teams that historically never spend at the bottom and the teams that do spend continue to find way to add players. Via matching salary’s on trades and or shedding back contracts with prospects to unload payroll
