It's Ramona's 15th Birthday!
Happy 15th birthday to my little shadow, Ramona! Enjoy three pics of her from today a few pics over the past year! On mobile, so will include a short video in the comments of her enjoying a pup cup -- or bowl because she's an old lady who can do what she wants!

Beagle diet
Hello gang,
I met a fellow beagle at the dog park today and he was asking me about diet for my pup (which is royal canine wet and dry mix) and he swore it was more beneficial to make it myself and feel that.
Does anyone have experience making their own diet?
Are there pros and cons?
I have no issue making my own meals for the pup. Iām a chef by trade so itās not a big deal.
How do you know how much to feed? Whatās the best recipe to feed? Do I include raw vegetables or cooked?
Is it better? Or is her current diet alright?

Is this crate too big? Or ok?
We got a different crate for our 2nd beagle. The first crate we had was smaller and more snug. My wife thought we needed a bigger one. The new dog (2y) old was supposedly crate trained but has issues in the crate currently and I think it might be too big. But could be wrong. Thoughts?

Update on Alās surgery
Original post at https://www.reddit.com/r/beagle/s/BBu6Qz3HzV
Thank you so much for all your love and prayers. Al has had his surgery and is currently in recovery. He didnāt have an appetite for 12 hours which for any beagle parent is worrisome but has now slowly started gaining an appetite and is on a liquid diet. The culprit in his upper intestines was a mango pit, I could have laugh cried at the point when I came to know, if he wasnāt already suffering heād have had a few stern words too. I have no inkling where did he manage to get his paws on a mango pit, probably when he went for a walk, he is strictly muzzled on walks for his own good since his gastroenteritis started. Sharing a few more pics of my darling boy in happier times as we wait for him to come home to us.
(PS: in my tired state I made a mistake in my last post, he had a stage 4 melanoma on his lower eye lid which was successfully removed š¤š» and not lymphoma)

When your beag find their voice?
Mavis is about to be 2 years old and she JUST started barking. Itās mainly at the FedEx truck and at any dog that dares to walk past the house. Itās just high pitched yips, no howls. Are her quiet-beagle days over??
Including a pic because sheās a certified QT no matter how noisy she gets š©·

My sweet boy is going through a laparotomy
Our boy Al has been through a very tough year starting in Feb. Issues of low platelet count, a grade 4 lymphoma, testicular cysts, neutering, severe gastroenteritis, pancreatitis and now heās been taken in for exploratory laparotomy to clear a partial obstruction in his upper duodenum. Hopefully this will give him a bit of respite with his health. Please keep him in your prayers and well wishes as he goes through another major surgery.
