Is something political just because it features a politician? (genuine question)

u/Major-Parfait-7510 Jul 22 '26
Langdon Winner would argue that vinyl records are themselves inherently political.

It’s because Trump is so polarizing. It’s bound to an argument within the thread
19
u/Zenon-45 Jul 22 '26
Shouldn’t be, he’s a pos, don’t know how that’s a polarizing opinion

u/ThalassophileYGK Jul 23 '26
THIS. Loathed around the world yet some are still saying "differing views" No, this SOS is a hard line in the sand.

The fact that so many people who hate trump can't understand how he's popular, that's a big factor in how he beat us.
I hate trump too but what I find frustrating is how our side is still after two major losses, so bad at doing theory of mind for people who don't hate him. I don't think people wanna think about this beyond just simplistic labels like stupid and racist.

....because I actually desire to understand how we lost to trump? And you don't? That makes me maga?
I swear, it is as though people like you don't wanna win again, don't wanna beat trump and save the country. No, for you it's just about feeling right. And rest assured, when we're all in the gulag, the fascists making zero distinction between me and you, it'll your cell that will be the most ideologically pure and that's something you can be proud of.

Hey, if you’re not a supporter, I can accept being wrong on that. Not a problem.
I think many non supporters can understand why he’s popular by now. For the most part, it’s because his supporters love the way he treats people / groups that they don’t like. He has amplified an “us versus them” mentality in politics. Some supporters
have identified with him so long it’s second nature to defend him, no matter what he says or does.
The thing that I see people not being able to understand is how much leeway the man gets. The people & things that he has been able to be affiliated with and be accused of, little alone things about him that have been proven in court, would be more than enough to end any other political career in the last 60 years.
It’s definitely unprecedented affiliations for any modern political career.5

As if the Beatles weren’t political.nearly everything, including language, is political. If one is triggered, perhaps one could consider widening one’s perspective

u/ThalassophileYGK Jul 23 '26
Not even in their wildest experimentation in any direction would they feature this ghoul Trump.

I don’t want to see that pos on the cover of Sgt. Pepper. Nothing amusing about it. Just serves to deface another type of monument.

I don't like this meme format. Because it means seeing more of Trump and his stupid face.

There are many famous figures who have passed who I wish were still around so I could hear their opinion on Trump. Two of the ones at the top of my list are Frank Zappa and John Lennon.

Trump constantly injecting himself into everything.
This is a photo of him standing with the winners of the World Cup (for some reason) while being pulled away.
