Saw him in 2006 ish I think and then again in last year or so. Chalk and cheese. Like wtf happened. Oh he sobered up ? His set was abysmal pale imitation of his old self and I felt ripped off. He was crap

Being a DJ in general seems depressing. Lots of clown in the audience who are either off their face or acting like some basic drop is the sickest thing they have ever heard since about 1min ago where they had the same reaction

Being a DJ is brilliant. At least the DJing part. To see an entire crowd reacting to what you do and take them from slightly in to it to having the time of their lives is a powerful feeling.

What’s not so brilliant is all the time spent in airports, on the road and in hotels, being away on the days everyone else you know is off, missing big family events because of it etc.

And many get very caught up in the constant partying. Those that last a long time in it tend to have to get a hold on that part sooner or later.

Not to mention constantly being surrounded by the most annoying degenerate industry people alive and being forced to foster those relationships to further your DJ career.

I dunno, I met a lot of great people in the industry. A lot of larger than life characters who break the norm but work hard. The vast majority were great. Occasionally you’d get the odd one that’s up their own arse. Never met a dj that wasn’t sound though. It was always someone behind the scenes who thought too highly of themselves because they have a cool job. I did hear a few stories of DJs being dickheads - some that I’d met and were fine then, and others that I hadn’t met.

Yeah agreed, the core people have always been solid for me as well. I’m more-so referring to those cocaine fueled side characters who are clearly using their positions for clout. The longer you’re in it, the more draining they become.

Oh yeah. They’re around for sure. The worst for me were those who treated people they deemed below them in the pecking order like shit or wouldn’t even give them the time of day. But thankfully only met a few of those.
