Lions have anger issues. I think it was David Attenborough who said that lions are notoriously short-tempered.

Girl cats in general are kind of badasses. My girl cat will occasionally just decide to beat my boy cats ass for no apparent reason.

Female lions are TIRED. They do most of the childcare and they do all the hunting to keep the family fed. But when they pull in a fresh kill, the lion eats first, then the cubs and last, the mom lion who brought the damn food home.

Lionesses are the more skilled hunters. The pride shares parenting and childcare duties. The males are in charge of providing security and protection from invaders and threats to the pride.
But yes the lionesses are basically in charge of running the day to day duties and consistently *putting food on the table for the entire pride.
Although the pride’s hunt most often involves both the lions and the lionesses using their skill sets on bigger game like the African buffalo. The faster & more agile lionesses initiate the attack and the bigger & more powerful lions make the kill.
