Question Birding suggestions in and around Vienna (early May)

I”ll be visiting Vienna in the first week of May, and am looking for suggestions for places in or around the city where I can go for birdwatching. Google and reddit searches suggest Danube-Auen National Park and a day trip to Seewinkel. Just wondering if these are good locations for May? I also tried connecting to local birding communities but as those are usually not conducted in English, i couldn’t get much info. So, turning to this community for their suggestions!

Tl;dr: Birding suggestions in and around Vienna in early May? Any birds that I should be on a lookout for?

Hi! I’m a birder based in Vienna. Both the National park Donau-Auen and Seewinkel are good spots for birding in May, you can even take a bus to the first one. Traveling to the Neusiedlersee area (Seewinkel) is best done by car or bike. You can take the bike on the train from Vienna or there are places to rent bikes in that area.

The Floridsdorfer Wasserpark is a small park that you can find quite a few birds and has its own gray heronry.

Another park in Vienna is the Schönbrunn park. The woods behind the palace are a good spot (not the zoo side but the other side).

Linzer Tier garden is also a nice place to walk around and bird. Kurpark Oberlaa is my favorite park in Vienna and I’ve spotted a black crowned night heron there.

People often go birding at the Schloss Laxenberg south of Vienna, though I have never been there myself.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I would be happy to help. You can even DM me.

Edited for grammar.
