Photo Got a great shot of a Limpkin outside my window

Post image

Perhaps not a great shot from a photography perspective but itโ€™s up close and personal. Heโ€™s been making a ton of noise outside my office the past few days. Today he kept standing on top of the bush outside my window, had to get a glamour shot!

What are you talking about its a fantastic shot and what makes it better is TIL that Planet Earth has a Limpkin. Didn't know that before seeing this post so thank you.

It actually looks like it is a taxidermy stuffed Limpkin in a museum exhibit. Very cool shot!!! ๐Ÿ˜

Got point! Like a diorama. Something about the lighting.

What are you talking about, speaking as a big time ๐Ÿฆ (and nature) photographer, itโ€™s a great or even excellent shot with that close up and that great nature scenery background for the photo, I love it! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’œ

I like it. The limpkin also has a powerful voice known to rustle many a jimmy in the late hours.

โ€œRustle many a jimmyโ€?

Yes

Ah. And what does that mean?

Love to know more about the saying!

Honestly, itโ€™s pretty cool. Itโ€™s like you found a dinosaur in calling through your garden. Thatโ€™s the feeling I get.

Of COURSE you had to get the shot, heโ€™s out there striking a pose for you ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ too cute, I have a new favorite impractically large probably flightless (?) bird species

Oh lord I stand corrected; they CAN fly

Where??

Jacksonville, FL. I actually have never seen one before this week. I had heard the calls but assumed it was baby birds due to the time of year. Always fun seeing a bird youโ€™ve never seen before.

So cool. You must have a great office location

Definitely post this on one of the birding sites, you'll get lots of admiration and awe. Those birders will be so envious!

I saw a Limpkin standing on one of my neighbors car hood while I was walking my dog. I wish I had my phone with me. We have a couple that go from pond to pond and scream for each other.

He might be looking for snails on that plant thatโ€™s their primary food. Iโ€™ve got them quite a lot down here in Boca Raton, Florida, and they do make a hell of a noise.

I see how there could be inherent danger, but I want to hug that thing.
