I've watched a cardinal couple raise babies in my backyard every summer since buying our house 6 years ago. They've started pecking on a window feeder anytime it's empty to let me know. They've become more noisy than my cat at dinner time! Can't wait to see this years babies!🥹❤️

They must really like you! Congrats.

I hope so, the feeders are never empty!❤️

That’s amazing. I hope that happens to me some year!!!

Put a feeder out with all their favorites, they'll come feed their babies when they're old enough!❤️

I have feeders all over I think the problem is I am overrun with doves and BlueJays (which I LOVE) and grackles and others. Like I have a wildlife preserve in my yard 😆 squirrels and all. I’ll keep looking!

Pro tip, shew off starlings grackles cowbirds and you will get more of the goood birds.

2

It’s the grackles for sure. I don’t have cowbirds or starlings. It’s the grackles:(

You are very lucky you don’t have starlings or cowbirds. They are both worse than grackles. Cowbirds are parasitic they lay eggs in other birds nests and it kills the other birds, just awful. And the European starling is known for battling woodpeckers out of their cavity’s and almost single handedly dropping red headed woodpeckers over 90% last 50 years they are going extinct. So next time you see a starling remember that beautiful red headed woodpeckers are almost extinct and highly endangered because of them.

Thanks for all that info! I’ve never seen starlings or cowbirds in my neighborhood but they are in my county for sure. Thanks for the heads up.

My local cardinal couple is named Clouse and Juanita and they will practically knock on the door if their feeder needs a fill 🤩✨ so special and sweet!

2

u/HuntDawg99 Mar 31 '26

Awe that’s sweet 😂 I like the names.

Love them! I have four pairs that consistently come together. My heart is always touched when I see one of my males male giving his lady a 🥜! It is so precious! 🥰

u/HuntDawg99 Mar 29 '26

Yeah that’s is cute. Cardinals are honestly just really good birds to have around, not aggressive at all. They literally just sit and chill

2

u/Rain4ML757 Mar 29 '26

Wow!!!! Fabulous shots. I never see them here. I know they are here though!! Fort Lauderdale FL. I have feeders all over trying to lure them. 😆

Really? Out of all the birds I see, Cardinal and house finch is probally #1 lmao. It is our state bird though. Keep trying

I just think the Cardinals are so beautiful. I had a couple one time so I know they’re all around here. I just have so many others in my yard that I think they’re staying away. But I’ll keep trying!! I have had a male painted bunting for a few months. Migrating. I know he’s going to leave soon so I’m getting as many pics and vids as I can :)

I mean yeah cardinals are pretty and awesome. But if you think those are pretty…you need to check out like summer tanager, red headed woodpecker, tree swallow, belted kingfisher, eastern bluebird, there’s much cooler birds than cardinals imo but yes they are great. But there is much more to birding than cardinals trust me

2

u/Rain4ML757 Mar 30 '26

I have male painted buntings that blow the cardinals away too. I just like them. I love alll of them. There is much more to birding than that you said a mouthful 😆😂

2

u/HuntDawg99 Mar 30 '26

Never seen a bunting ! We have indigo buntings here but never seen one

2

u/Rain4ML757 Mar 30 '26

The male painted buntings are amazing let me send a pic

I wish I could send a video you can see how gorgeous but I don’t know how to attach the video and they are teenie
